FHI Nano Weight Pro 1800 Hair Dryer
-
AmberBummed OutI am a hairdresser in a very fast working salon. So, it's neccesary that I have an awesome dryer. I use to have the FHI 2000 (my best friend). That hair dryer lasted me for almost 2 years. So because of it's light-weight, I decided to get the 1800. I ordered it in mid August. It's the end of January and I have a feeling it's not going to make it much longer... So sad that it's only lasted me this long!posted Jan 27, 2012Link to this post

SaraTexasHairLight BrownCurly HairColor Treated HairFine or Thin HairPrice Does Not Mean Good! This summer marks two years I have used this horrible blow dryer. I use it 4+ times a week and because it was so expensive (there were two and my model was the higher price of the two) I'm still using it, but have hated it from day one. I am a cosmetologist so I do have experience.
Pros: The hair dries very fast. Why? See the next "Con" below...
Con # 1: The heat is waaaaaay too hot and the heat is what makes this dry the hair so fast. The dryer comes in three settings...there is hot using the high speed setting, and hot using a low speed setting. Then there is a cold setting. For the price and for safety there should be a low temperature, medium temperature and high temperature, but it should never get as hot as it does. The heat will damage your hair if you hold the end too close to your hair and will burn your fingers and scalp. I am talking "hurt" burn, not something just a little too hot. If you have color treated hair, do not use this dryer. In fact, unless you hold the dryer 1 1/2 feet from your head, I wouldn't use it at all for any type of hair. I still use it but I use precautions and hate it with every use.
Con # 2: Of all the dryers I've had in my life, the switch on this one has been the most irritating. If I don't pay attention, I turn the unit off. It is an irritant to be sure. Because the handle is curved, the switch is protruding more than usual.
I am mad that I spent that much money on the stupid thing and will never do so again without reading the reviews. There were none when I bought mine. Hate, hate hate this dryer.

ReginaDetroit, MIHairDark BrownThick or Coarse HairExcellent For Straightening!!!This is a great blow dryer for extremely thick hair. I do not wash my own hair often as I routinely visit the salon. However, when I do wash my hair this dryer helps tremendously! It works great for straightening hair when used with the concentrator tip and a round brush/vented brush. Personally, I have never experienced hair loss or overheating. Then again, I would never fathom using this dryer so close to my scalp---it is very hot (comparable to a straightening iron). And, of course, heat infers fire. It is great for thicker textures, but I wouldn't recommend frequent use in order to over severe damage or drying out one's hair. I've had this dryer for 2 years, but then again, I only use once every couple of months.posted Jan 5, 2011Link to this post

RashmiDangerous!!The cord literally exploded into a ball of fire this morning when I was using the dryer. I had noticed some difficulty in getting the dryer going about a month ago but I didn't think much of it. We have an old house and I blamed it on our outlets. I was at my parents' house this morning and they have a brand new house. The cord blew up into a ball of fire, sparks flying everywhere. I literally had to toss my 15-month old out of the bathroom as he was about to get showered with sparks.
I called Folica who put me in touch with FHI. FHI was useless. They said that because the dryer was no longer under warranty, they can't replace it. I explained that their product should NEVER burst into a ball of flame and they should not hide behind a warranty for this. They offered to replace the dryer if I paid them $60. No thanks. I'll give my money to someone else.posted May 4, 2010Link to this post -
JoniHairThick or Coarse HairThe Truth About This Hair DryerI am on my 3rd dryer. It is without a doubt very true that this dryer last only 1year.However I love it so I will continue to buy it. I have extremely thick hair and no interest in any other setting but HOT!! It dries my hair faster than any other dryer I have ever used. I sometimes put the nozzle right on my hair and have never burned a strand. Great for super thick curly hair.posted Apr 10, 2010Link to this post

KatLike This DryerI was decided between this and Chi. Most chi's unless very expensive ones do not have ceramic tourmaline and this one does and it dries my hair very quickly. I like the heat setting on this and feel it does the job. I like where the buttons are too.posted Mar 19, 2010Link to this post

DdToo HotThis is the worst dryer I have ever owned! It burned my hair, and fried the bristles on my round brush. I had to go to the salon to get all of the dead ends and damaged sections cut.posted Mar 3, 2010Link to this post

LindsDisappointedIt does dry my hair faster... but people aren't lying it actually just BURNT MY HAIR OFF - I pulled out clumps from where it singed at the top. If you hold it away from your hair and don't get too close, it's a good dryer, but if you blow out your hair with a round brush BEWARE!!!posted Feb 4, 2010Link to this post

Can NOT believe the story about the woman whose BANGS burned off on her wedding day with this dryer. Anyone had any luck with complaining to the compnay?posted Nov 15, 2009Link to this post
