Emjoi EpiSlim Epilator

KarenSan Diego, CAVery Good If Your Hair Is Not Too ThickI really like the EpiSlim. I got this one because it was less expensive than the other Emjoi epilators. It does work well, sometimes you have to go over a spot to get it to pull out the hair. It does sting a little. The first time I used it on my legs it did sting and I got some little red dots. But after using it regularly the stinging is much less, and so are the red dots, probably because there is less hair to pull out. (I don't have very thick hair on my legs). It grows back much slower, and there is no stubble feeling. I also used it on my face for the sporadic dark hairs that come with age. (I'm 46). It works good on the face, it leaves the very short light hairs because they are not long enough, but that is good. I recommed this product if your hair is not too thick. If your hair is thicker, you might need one of the more expensive epilators.posted Aug 30, 2010Link to this post

Ruby J.KentuckyGreat For Chin Hair Removal!I bought this at Sally Beauty Supply after seeing the mostly great reviews here. I got it primarily for the hair on my chin - mostly long, fine, snow-white hairs with a few little coarse darker hairs thrown in for fun :) - but was also hoping to use it on my fine, snow-white mustache. I've been using it now for two months.
Here's the thing - the EpiSlim is PERFECT on my chin. MUCH better than waxing, which was difficult because evidently my hair grows in about 30 different directions, and much better than the Hair-Off Facial Buffer, which was just impossible to use on my jawline. The EpiSlim gets both the fine and coarse hairs. Occasionally, it misses one, but hey - still better than waxing. And much less painful, too. I use this once a week, sometimes every two weeks, because after just two months of use, it seems that I have fewer hairs. That may just be my imagination, but I'm still very satisfied.
That being said - I CANNOT use this thing on my upper lip. It hurts like the DEVIL, and I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. However, I'm not too upset, because I use the little Hair-Off Facial Buffer there, and it does a fine job with no pain. So I took off one star for that.posted Aug 26, 2010Link to this post -
Kel B.Long Island, NyWorks Better Than WaxingI have waxed for years and was having to do it more often instead of less - also had to deal with in-grown hairs. I feel this product works great and keeps my chin smooth for weeks with no in-grown hairs. Most of my hair is fine and was hard to get all of it with wax but with Emjoi it gets all the fine hairs as well as the course ones. Would highly recommend.posted Apr 27, 2010Link to this post

Kel B.Long Island, NyI Am So Happy!I absolutely love the Emjoi Epislim Epilator! I have had issues with facial hair for close to 20 years, starting at the age of 25. My late husband complained very loudly about it and insisted I shave my chin daily. That caused a HUGE problem for me and I even ended up with a "5 O'Clock shadow" in the afternoon. My kids used to tell their friends I was the bearded lady from the circus and they made fun of my "mustache" which horrified me. One son called me a "manly girl" for years. All this affected my self image in a negative way. Since getting the Emjoi Epislim Epilator I have been able to effectively remove both fine hairs and coarse black hairs from my face, chin, and upper lip. I am ecstatic with the results and for the first time in two decades I feel pretty and self confident! Does it hurt? Yes, at first. When I stared using it I involuntarily jumped every time it pulled a hair from my face (and I literally have hundreds of them). But, it?جø¬?s getting better, not as painful. I broke out in a red, bumpy rash the first few times, but am now rinsing my face with cool water afterward and it seems to calm the reaction. I?جø¬?m sure witch hazel would help as well. I still use tweezers on the hairs closest to my lips since the skin is so delicate there, but I use the epilator every place else on my face. I read a lot of the reviews here before buying it and have followed the advice given: I take a hot shower and exfoliate first, then epilate, rinse with cool water and pat dry. Make sure you move the epilator in small little circles and keep it at a ninety degree angle from your face; also make sure the logo is facing your face, not away from you. And, make sure you pull your skin tight. I will never shave my face again, and I?جø¬?ll never spend hours in front of the mirror tweezing each hair one at a time. I've decided to buy some make-up. I never wore it before because the hair caused application issues. I'm also considering dating again! I am so glad I bought this product and I highly recommend it to others.posted Apr 6, 2010Link to this post

Kel B.Long Island, NyGreat Facial Hair Remover! The Emjoi EpiSlim Epilator does exactly what I wanted it for and at a great price. A few months ago, due to the onset of menopause, I have had course hairs grow on both my upper lip and chin. At home waxing wasn't effective and I can't afford salon treatments. Tweezing didn't help much because I couldn't see the ones on my chin very well. So, since I had used an epilator on my legs for years, I thought this might work. Does it hurt? Yeah, a little. I exfoliate first and then apply some herbal skin balm after, the redness and stinging go away within 15 - 20 minutes and I don't have to worry that when I am speaking with someone they are focusing on my mustache or chin hairs!posted Mar 17, 2010Link to this post

Kel B.Long Island, NyWimpfor a newbie to these devices, this HURT. the angle of use is important but i found myself afraid to put it at the proper 90 degree tilt (optimum use) but when i did so (around eyebrow area) it worked, having recieved brow waxes that region was less sensitive but other face areas is still daunting to use it on. side note--ive only used it 3 times so far, but also I have alot of thick (thankfully blonde) hairposted Mar 16, 2010Link to this post

Kel B.Long Island, NyDisappointingI have the Emjoi corded Light Caress, which I love. I was hoping for an inexpensive version for face and underarms. Its design makes it almost ineffective. The Caress has tweezers and bumps flush with the tweezers to make a flat surface. I've been able to get VERY short hairs with this Caress. The EpiSlim just doesn't work as well. I scraped my chin raw, trying to get 1/4 inch hairs, the Caress handled easily. The EpiSlim couln't cope with my undersrms at all. Get it if the price is right, but be careful using it, and expect some frustration.posted Mar 6, 2010Link to this post

Kel B.Long Island, NyHairThick or Coarse HairI Love ItI have pretty thick hair and emjoi epislim actually plucked it from the root. It is slightly painful in some areas where I seem to be more sensitive like the upper lip, than oppose to my eyebrows, but after using it for months now I realized that using a fresh pack of batteries will hurt more than a pair that is at mid point level energy. I use rechargeable batteries as well. So for those who complained about pain, try not using a fresh set of batteries and see how that goes.posted Mar 3, 2010Link to this post

MonaBrooklyn, NYWorthlessDidn't cut one hair, no matter how carefully I followed the instructions. And I wasn't using it on my legs or arms, this was on my face. A waste of my money.posted Jan 4, 2010Link to this post
