Judy AnneChagrin Falls,OhioHairBlondeDry HairColor Treated HairChemically Treated HairGreat BrushI bought two of these brushes and they are very nice. They don't pull out my hair but stimulate my scalp. I love them for styling my hair in a upsweep with all the blond and brown colors showing. I have many brushes throught my life, but this brand is a modest price for a very good grooming tool.posted Jul 26, 2011Link to this post

Curly GirlHairBlackCurly HairThick or Coarse HairA Good ProductI really liked this brush. I have with non-chemically treated soft medium thick curly hair. I was looking for a quality brush that would last for years like my previous brush. I feel that this brush is a really good brush, but it doesn't quite penetrate as well as I would like it to, and the handle is a little on the small and thin side. Another issue with the handle is that because of the shiny plastic that is used, it is very slippery when you are using product on your hair, as a lot of people do. However, all in all it is a very nice quality product, and I purchased the large and medium one after returning one of the other brushes, which just didn't work at all for my hair type.

Steph R.Good BrushThis is a really great brush. I am no hair expert but for the price I got everything I wanted out of the Denman brush. I bought the medium size brush because I have fine medium length hair. It does a great job at giving my fine hair volume and keeps it shiny and tangle free. I would recommend this brush to anyone with finer hair.posted Jun 14, 2011Link to this post

LindaSanta Clara, CAHairLight BrownNormal HairFine or Thin HairLove This BrushI have long, waist-length hair that's straight and fine but I have a lot of body. This brush with the mixed nylon/boar bristles is the answer to post-styling finishing and removal of knots at the ends. It makes my hair smooth, shiny and non-static-y. The nylon bristles reach to my scalp and the bristles don't pull or break my fine hair (especially those delicate grays). I did a lot of research, looking at the various options and I think this brush is a great value.posted May 10, 2011Link to this post

LHairBlackThick or Coarse HairNot So Good For Coarse HairI've always used whatever cheap drugstore hairbrush that had the cutest color---$3 and $4 hairbrushes that you know you're not going to be keeping for a long time---and after I lost my latest sparkly purple cheapo brush, I decided to invest in a nicer one. In my opinion, dropping anything close to $100 on a hairbrush is nuts, even if you CAN afford it, and this Denman brush has good reviews from a lot of beauty websites and personal makeup/beauty blogs.
This brush simply does not work with my hair. I wish other reviewers had mentioned their ethnicity when reviewing the brush, because depending on your heritage or your genetics, your hair is going to be extremely different from my hair. I'm of Asian descent, and not only are my hairs themselves extremely thick and wiry-wavy (not the typical stick-straight, waterfall Asian hair), but I have a LOT of hair. My head kind of expands when it's humid outside... like a pufferfish.
The Denman brush cannot really penetrate my thick sheet of hair unless I put my other hand underneath the bristles to sandwich my hair as I am brushing it. With cheap drugstore brands, I could just drag the bristles through my hair a few times and then be good to go. With this Denman brush I have to work through my head in sections. It used to take me maybe 10 seconds to brush my hair; now it takes me 2 minutes. Of course 2 minutes is not a lot of time, but when you're rushed it becomes really frustrating.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the little nylon tips are quite sharp against the scalp. I think if you have finer hair and not as much of it, and if you don't have to press to get the bristles through your hair, the nylon tips will feel like a nice scalp massage. But given how hard I have to press this brush, the nylon bristles come very close to feeling like they're cutting my scalp. It's not a nice feeling.
My hair moisture is pretty normal---not too dry, not too oily---and this brush makes my hair unbelievably static-y. After I brush, I look like I've been touching one of those silver metal conductors at the science museum. I've had to get a leave-in conditioner just because of this hairbrush. Ugh.
The only good thing about this brush is that the density of the bristles will leave your hair feeling really really smooth and soft. Of course, I use conditioners and products for that... I really just want a hairbrush to 1) untangle my hair and 2) move it into place. This hairbrush fails to do that, and I'm pretty sure it's because of the type and texture of hair I have. If you have finer hair, I bet this brush would be amazing. But I think I might just go buy a cheap drugstore brush.posted Mar 31, 2011Link to this post -
MelissaUpstate NYHairBlondeNormal HairColor Treated HairFine or Thin HairWonderful BrushI am very pleased with the Denman brush that I purchased. My five year old daughter and I both use this brush on a daily basis, and since using it I have noticed a big difference in our hair. The results are excellent with less breakage, no static and unbelievable softness. Finally, a brush that does not damage our hair!posted Mar 19, 2011Link to this post

GHairDark BrownNormal HairOily HairThick or Coarse HairGreat BrushMy hair is long and fairly thick. I also get tangles on the under part of my hair near my neck. I wanted a brush that would penetrate to my scalp and get the tangles out easily. This brush does just that! If you have a tender scalp, this brush might be a little too harsh for you. Otherwise, it's awesome! I love it! It makes my hair look smooth and sleek! :)posted Jan 9, 2011Link to this post

EllieConnecticutHairLight BrownCurly HairColor Treated HairThick or Coarse HairBetter Than ImaginedI have thick curly hair and was in desperate need of a new brush. My brush of 5 years was on its way out and I was having no luck in finding a replacement brush. I purchased several from big box stores, drugstores, beauty supply stores before I found this one. It grabs the hair and really holds it tight so I can blow it out straight. Very very happy with this product and even thinking of buying an extra one for future use!!posted Dec 3, 2010Link to this post

Jennifer S.HairDark BrownOily HairFine or Thin HairGreat Brush, Should Have Got The Large Size.I love what this brush does to my hair! I have shoulder length somewhat fine, wavy hair. It gives me tons of volume! I bought this particular brush because I didn't feel like spending $150 on a Mason Pearson right now. Turns out, this is a great brush. The only negative thing about it is, that the handle is too small, and makes it hard to get a good grip. I do probably have large hands for a female I guess. I bought a medium size. Should have bought a large apparently.posted Sep 23, 2010Link to this post
