LaurieExceptionalI ordered my Solia 1" ceramic/tourmaline flat iron just two days ago, and it just arrived today! I pulled it out of the box to give it a quick try, and wow! It has been really humid the past two days, and my hair was a bit frizzy, and it just glided through my hair with ease, and it looked great! I have shoulder length hair with a medium thickness to it, and it went through it with ease. I read the many reviews before purchasing this iron, and I know it was well worth the $80.00 I just spent. If you are considering buying this flat iron, you are making the right decision.posted Jun 25, 2010Link to this post

LarisaWashington, DCYou Will Not Be DisappointedAfter my friend straightened my hair at work with HER professional flat iron, I KNEW I needed a new one. My current one has destroyed my hair and left it dry, hell, it didn't even straighten it that well. So, the hunt began. I was back and forth between the CHI and Solia reading reviews for hours. I finally decided on the Solia for a couple reasons. 1. Many have claimed that the CHI breaks too quickly 2. I preferred the 'look' of the Solia 3. Tourmaline 4. Less expensive 5. Temperature control Now, I'm sure the CHI is one the the best, but if the claims were true I'd rather not buy a new flat iron every time it decides to break. I have very thin hair and the lack of temperature control on the CHI terrified me. All in all, after using this product, my hair has never looked so straight, smooth, and silky. Just don't do anything stupid and you'll be fine. What's stupid? Don't immediately try the maximum temperature on your hair (unless you absolutely need it) I have found that 375 is PLENTY hot. Oh yeah, it doesn't like to be dropped, so don't drop it.posted Jun 1, 2010Link to this post

HeatherGood, But SmallWhen I received the 1" Solia it was too small, at least for my hair. I do have long hair though (past the middle of my back) so I probably should have known to get the 1 1/4" but didn't want it too big for my bangs. But I still exchanged it and got the 1 1/4" and am completely satisfied. It takes a little getting used to compared to my old flat iron I got I couple years ago at Sally's Beauty. The major difference I can notice right away is that the Solia does not pull little strands of my hair when pulling the flat iron through. Also, it is very light weight, and my old one was pretty heavy which is a lot better for my arm. It straigtens my hair without burning it, even on the highest setting, and I don't have thick hair. For the price and warranty is has I am satisfied.posted May 31, 2010Link to this post

BrandieGreat ValueI have thick wavy/frizzy hair. The Solia works well at removing frizz and straightening my hair. The only drawback is I have to turn it up to a very high temperature to obtain this. One small con is that it doesnt straight ends of hair very well, but overall it does its job.posted May 28, 2010Link to this post

AlFloridaNot Good At All....=(I bought this straightener after reading all the good reviews but it turned out to be not good at all. It doesn't heat up well, had to wait at least five minutes to really heat up. I have wavy hair, really manageable. I had to go over my hair more than five times to straighten that section. My sister have more thicker hair than I do. If it did not work on my hair it definitely did not work on my sister's hair. Same goes with curling and flipping the hair. It was total waste of time and money. I returned it and bought my old k-styler back. At least it worked better than Solia.posted May 23, 2010Link to this post

MariahChicagoSolia OverratedI got this flat iron as a gift a little bit over a year ago, about three months ago the thing does not turn on or heat up anymore, what a waste of money, should have went with a chi like I suggestedposted May 18, 2010Link to this post

MicheleWorks Well But Extremely FragileThis iron does work well, but I had it about 6 months when it slid from my countertop into the sink (not dropped on the floor -- it slid about 6 inches into the sink) and one of the plates popped out. Now about six months later both plates pop out all the time, sometimes catching my hair and damaging it. Solia will not stand behind the 1 year warranty as they said that it was a wear and tear issue, but I only use this iron once a week or so and it should last longer than 6 months. So after a substantial investment in a flat iron just over a year ago, I'm now back to looking for another new one. The only saving grace is that I bought this iron as a $100 bundle with a Solia hair dryer (which I recommend highly) so it's basically like I bought a $90 great hairdryer and a $10 junk flatiron. For what its worth, I've had other irons at a lower price point last much much longer than this poorly construted one.posted May 13, 2010Link to this post
