Elizabeth V.MarylandHairBlackCurly HairThick or Coarse HairAwesome!!!I've always known that investing in good hair products are a must and for years, I swore by my Chi. This Solia is much better! I didn't want to write a review until I had had it for a few months though. It's now been about 6 months and I am still loving it. People always ask where I get me hair done and I say " Me". Deep conditioner+regular trims+an awesome iron= good hair days. It's all in what you use. I am hispanic with really thick curly hair and my daughter is bi-racially mixed with african american. It works wonders in both of our hair. I like how you only have to slide it once across the section of hair you're working with to get super-sleek results. I was hesitant on getting it at first because I was about to buy a Sedu but I liked that this one was a little more affordable. Plus, I got some free gifts annnd free shipping. Folica.com is the bomb!posted Sep 29, 2010Link to this post

QuanSomewhere In The DesertHairDark BrownRelaxed HairNot Worth All The Hype! This flat iron is nothing to special. I just bought it and have been using it for less than a week and notice that this flat iron is slowly drying my hair out. Don't get me wrong it does the job of straightening but it looks dry after its straightened. I'm thinking I may try out the FHI flat iron hopefully it will do better for my hair.posted Sep 25, 2010Link to this post

SarahCTHairDark BrownNormal HairOily HairFine or Thin HairGreat Replacement For ChiI recently had to replace my CHI iron and I wasn't sure about how a Solia would compare, but I'm glad I went for it. It seems to get my hair much smoother than the CHI and works a lot better to curl my hair. There is also less drag on the plates, it slides through my hair much easier. Overall I'm very happy with it.posted Sep 22, 2010Link to this post

ShevyConnecticutHappy But Just A Bit Worriedso far seems really great. im just nervous because i read a few reviews of ppl who said they worked amazingly and then just one day stopped working. but thats with all the hair irons - ive done a lot of research and seen those comments with chis and everything.
sadly, they dont make things the way they used to. things arent meant to last.
but ill enjoy it while i can which will hopefully be a long time!
ps ive got really thick hair and it works great. i am very into hair health and lightly run my hair through with a thin layer of olive oil every time i shower. this has not hindered the straightening, waving, or curling in any way. in fact, i sometimes wonder if it helps my hair absorb the oils and lock in the moisture.
but who knows.
im no expert :)posted Sep 21, 2010Link to this post -
Melissa H.Tyler, TexasHairMedium BrownFine or Thin HairOnly Lasted 1 1/2 Years!!I have had my straightener for ONE and HALF years and it suddenly just stopped working. You would think that product at this price and quality would have years of use in it. I took very good care of it and did not use it daily. VERY DISAPPOINTED that I am now having to look for a new one!posted Sep 20, 2010Link to this post

RebeccaPoor QualityThis flat iron worked great until it broke. I received this flat iron in January and by early May (a mere 5 months later), it wasn't working properly. It seemed like there was a short in the wire because it would only work if I held it a certain way. I dealt with it for a while, but recently it stopped working altogether. I should note that I also babied this flat iron because I knew it was expensive and I should take good care of it.
Maybe you will have better results than me (although now looking through the other reviews, I see several other people who are also reporting the poor quality), but be wary. I luckily have the warranty, but it's still a huge hassle to get it replaced (not to mention I have to pay a fee in addition to shipping it--why should I have to pay when their poor manufacturing is at fault?!), and, given a choice, I would have rather have originally gone with something else.posted Sep 15, 2010Link to this post -
ErikaMontgomery, AlabamaHairDark BrownCurly HairAwesome Straightener!I love this straightener. It's honestly the best one I've ever had. It's much better than the Sedu. I am hispanic and have really really curly hair. With the previous straighteners I've had, my hair would start to curl up especially at the roots after an hour or so, especially when I went outside. I've gotten many compliments about my hair. It makes it look and feel soft and so straight! This straightener is amazing. Be sure to use heat protector of some sort though because it gets really hot!posted Sep 10, 2010Link to this post

RachelPhillyHairBlackNormal HairFormer Chi Lover, Prefer This.I was a long time user of the Jilbere Porcelain series until a friend of mine broke it while using it abroad. In the time between, I had been using my roommates' CHI (1" fixed temperature) for 2 years and swore by it. My problem with is that it didn't have variable temperature.
I am Indian and have fairly thick long hair with layers and bangs, and it's not curly just unruly at times, so I did not like the fact that the CHI could not be turned to a lower setting. I did a bit of research about tourmaline and discovered it is much better for your hair so I decided to give the Solia a try. I was really happy with the results. If you like the feeling of the plates of the CHI, you'll be happy to find that the Solia's plates feel much the same (and are apparently better on your hair). The plates do not snag at all and the Solia is quick to heat up and change temperature. I bought the 1" even though I have very long hair but like being able to easily curl my hair with it, as well as handle my bangs. Although with the 1" do not expect it to be the same size as the CHI 1", the Solia 1in is slightly smaller, which at first disappointed me, but it doesn't make a difference when straightening.
All in all I am very happy with the Solia and would recommend it to anyone.posted Sep 8, 2010Link to this post -
Perla L.San Francisco, CAHairMedium BrownColor Treated HairThick or Coarse HairHappy With My New Toy =)I am always looking for the BEST! I really liked the way this flat iron worked. I was hoping to use it the minute I got it but I was at work and then sick at home the next day.. for some reason i coundn't wait to try it (I even had a dream I did/hahahaha) and my expectations where right!! I enjoyed flat ironing my hair as soon as I started. It doesn't take much time to get my hair flat and it leaves my hair very soft as a matter of fact. This was a great choice!! I haven't had the chance to use the mini flat that was free at the time of purchase but I still think it was the best deal ever. I am so happy and very pleased with my purchase and for that matter I would recommend it to my friends to try it out. This is my 4th flat Iron and I feel that I've finally made the right choice, Woohooo for me!!!posted Sep 8, 2010Link to this post

Mary S.Valley, WAHairDark BrownColor Treated HairThick or Coarse HairI Can't Believe The Results!I was reluctant to pay the money for a high quality hair straightner. I thought it can't be that much better than the 15.99 drugstore straightner that I was using. On advice of my hairdresser and after reading reviews, I broke down and spent the money. Let me tell you it is that much better. The Solia leaves my wavy hair smooth, silky, and straight. It looks like I just left the salon and it takes half the time as my old straightner for better results. I highly recommend this product!posted Aug 30, 2010Link to this post
