AnyhooMSNot So Good For Fine HairAfter 4 yrs of use, my Chi iron died, so I was on the hunt for another flat iron. After reading all the positive reviews about the Solia, I was sold. It took 11 long days to receive it! I have long, fine hair and the first day I used it, I liked it and received compliments. Now, after a week of use, I have really bad split ends and breakage. I am using it on the 390*, which is probably too hot for fine hair, but I have to turn it up that high to get it really straight. I also use heat protector, but it is still doing damage. Also, being the picky person that I am.... when I first opened it up, I held it to a light to see if the ceramic plates pressed perfectly together, they did not. I saw light in the small gaps, which leads me to think that this is not a high quality made product. Im in the process of looking now for a higher quality flat iron that will not do the damage like the Solia.posted Apr 4, 2009Link to this post

ErinLake Charles, LAIt's Ok...not GreatIve owned my Solia for about a year and a half now. It really isnt all its cracked up to be. It does feel very cheaply made, and the plates DO NOT line up correctly. There is a gap at the bottom of the plates when you close it completely. It also snags my hair form time to time. It heats up quickly, but as far as results....I am not impressed. This is why I am researching to buy another (brand) of flat iron. My Solia straightens my hair, but there are still waves and frizz left over. I use very expensive salon products, to no avail. I live near the GUld Coast so I deal with extreme humidity all the time. The Solia does nothing to help with that. I can spend an hour carefully ironing my hair, and as soon as I walk outside...POOF! I would not recommend this flat iron.posted Mar 31, 2009Link to this post

CamiRye Brook New YorkDefinitely Not The BestPretty disappointed with this flat iron. It pulls my hair and takes quite a few strokes before it actually does anything. I wasted my money, and now I have to buy something else.posted Mar 23, 2009Link to this post

JennEven After 4 Years Of Daily Use, Better Than My ChiI got my Solia for my 14th birthday. I am now 18 and am still using the very same flat iron. It works better than my Chi or any other flat iron I have ever used at any salon. I have very thick hair and this is the only straightener that really works. To this day, I prefer to use my old beat up Solia to any other flat iron even if the others are brand new and of excellent quality. My 4 year old Solia is amazing.posted Mar 23, 2009Link to this post

RenaeI'm Returning It!!I was very excited when my Solia arrived, but much to my dismay--I am extremely disappointed! I had a FHI that I loved but only had for 3 years before it died on me. I was reading reviews and decided to try the Solia. I wish I had stuck with the FHI because it did a much better job. I like to curl my hair with the flat iron (as the waves last MUCH longer than with a curling iron!), but it was almost impossible to do this under an hours time because the cord does NOT swivel like the FHI did! I had to continually stop curling and untwist the cord. Also when I tried straightening my hair, it had this weird kink in some places. Not sure why this happened as I am pretty accustomed to straightening hair. I am going to return this product, and go back to my FHI. Stick to what works for you...its NOT the Solia.posted Mar 8, 2009Link to this post

MimiPleasedI read a lot before I selected the Solia. Im totally pleased with my purchase. Its light and well made. I have fine straight hair but wanted it for the lift, shine and curve. I can curve my hair under in seconds. Its fun.posted Mar 7, 2009Link to this post

Katherine W.VAAmazingly Amazing.I just recieved mine just two days ago and Im already in love with it. This is by far the best hair straightner, flat iron [whatever] ive used on my hair. It leaves your hair super shiny, straight, and not damaged looking like other flat irons. It also takes less time to straighten your hair. Basically its flippin sweet x].posted Mar 1, 2009Link to this post

JessicaNorth CarolinaIt Was Okay, Nothing Special!I just ordered the Solia 1" and tried it out, and honestly...I dont know what all the hype is about! I dont see it being any better than any other flat iron you buy for like 30 bucks! I mean i already have straight thin hair, so basically all I wanted it to do is make it silky soft and very shiny, which it didnt do that great! I think Ill stick to my Paul Mitchell!posted Feb 13, 2009Link to this post

D. C. SmithNorth CarolinaAwesome, For The First Month Or So.I bought this flat iron for a friend in late December. It was shipped in a timely manner, and I received the product about a week after I placed the order. My friend ADORED this straightener while he had it. It was very well taken care of (as far as I know), and it didnt have any issues. About a week ago (today is February 8th), my friend told me that the light on the iron had gone off, and then it stopped heating up. WOW, we were really upset. This kids hair has... some issues... and this straightener did amazing things for it, but its worthless when it doesnt work! Im disappointed...posted Feb 8, 2009Link to this post

NhPhiladelphia, PALike The Chi, But Better!I am a serial on-line shopper and Ive never written a review until now. I really like this iron. I have long curly/wavy mixed hair to the middle of my back and it gets really poofy when I blow dry it. Ive had the original 1 Chi for over a year now and once I figured out how to use it properly (with bio-silk silk thearpy) I loved it. It would leave my hair shiny/straight, even with bad weather The only problem was I noticed my hair which is usually pretty healthy began to have a lot more split ends! Like a whole lot more. So I finally decided to get something with an actual temp control. I researched for about 2 months, and it came down to the Sedu vs the Solia. I finally decided to go with the Solia b/c it was cheaper. Ive had it for about 2 weeks now. It works just as well as the chi for my hair, I can keep it on a lower temp and so far I dont see the same level as damage. The chi damaged my hair so much I would have to clip it every two weeks. The solia also works just as well with or without biosilk. If I used the chi without biosilk it would leave my hair really dry. I am only giving four stars b/c I havent had it long enough to see if it will last, I am a huge klutz and I already dropped it. I dropped my chi all the time and its still working, so hopefully the solia will hold up too.posted Feb 5, 2009Link to this post
