Better Than The Chi!Pretty great! Better than the CHI flat iron. Only concern is that it gets a little hot right underneath the temp. adjustment area, which is a little annoying. Great, If You Are Willing To Replace It Every MonthI bought the Solia two years ago and when I first got it, I fell in LOVE! I am an African-American female with unprocessed kinky hair and this iron gets my hair beautifully straight with a shine to match. It worked fine for about the first year, but then it broke. I thought maybe it was of some fault of mine so I sent in for my replacement under warranty. Not even a few months later, the replacement stopped working. So naturally, I sent in for another replacement. During this time, I decided to purchase a different iron because I am a hairstylist and I can't afford for my iron to keep breaking. The GHD I had prior to my Solia lasted me about 5 years before dying so I was expecting more. I received my third replacement, and approximately one month after I first used it, this one failed on me. I am at the end of my warranty period so I am going to send my iron in this one last time and hope for the best. I am extremely unhappy with how this iron lasts. I don't drop the iron or wrap my cord up so I don't know why it keeps dying. Plus every other iron I've had, GHD and FHI, have lasted me. I just like trying new things so I tried Solia, which straightens great, but I've replaced too many times for my liking.posted Jun 18, 2012Link to this post -

Best Flat Iron Ever!!I purchased the Solia after the 16 dollar Andis that I've owned for 11 years finally died. I had recently used a friends Paul Mitchel flat iron and was impressed with the results so I began the mission to find a "high end" flat iron. I had heard a lot about Chi, but after reading lots of reviews and doing my research, i was disappointed to find that the Chi isn't as great as it used to be.. after reading many a blog that said Solia was as good as it gets, i decided to buy one and just happened to see that Folica was having a deal where you get a pretty steep discount for trading in your old flat iron. I got my Solia in the mail today and I am beyond impressed with the results.. my hair has never been so straight and shiny. Flattered With The Results!I expected this flat iron to work great, because of the testimonials here on folica.com and youtube.com. So, I was eager to test this on my locks of hair. I tried it out immediately after opening the package and as expected, it worked great! My flat hair even lasted during the raining humidity my area experiences. I'm Blown Away!I have thick naturally wavy-curly hair. Notice that I didn't say one or the other. Curly hair is good, and wavy hair is good, but a combination of the two is just plain a pain in the butt. When you lay on it and wake up it's in every direction possible and the only way to control it again is to wash it....again, a pain in the butt. So, for years I simply wore it super short. My Sister, who has the same hair type as me, but wears it long, just let it dry naturally, and lived with the mess. It wasn't very attractive, but her sparkling personality balanced it well. Then, one day, she bought a flat iron and used it and told me of the great results. On a recent visit to her house, I saw the results first hand and was blown away by how great her hair looked. It was then that I had hope that I could grow my hair out and have beautiful long hair too. I bought the Solia after reading so many great reviews and couldn't wait for it to be delivered. When it arrived, I immediately went and tried it on my hair. Again, I was blown away by the results. For the first time in my life, I had straight hair. It was silky and beautiful. And, the best part of all of this is that I can go for three days straight without washing my hair, because when I sleep on it, and wake up, it's still straight! I could probably go longer, but it starts to look dirty....:) It's nice to be able to put some oils back in my hair, and I can tell that since using the Solia my hair is getting healthier and healthier. I pair it with a really nice Macadamia Healing Oil, which makes my hair smooth as silk. I couldn't be happier with the results and I am finally able to grow my hair long....something I haven't had since I was a young child. Thank you Solia!!!

Works Great... When It Works.I have been using this Solia flat iron for years now... I liked it better than other flat irons because it lasted so long and really worked great. I had gone though many flat irons that only lasted a year or so before they broke. The first one I had lasted me a good 5 years. When I got a new one, it lasted me maybe 6 months and just randomly stopped working. I sent it back in and they gave me a replacement.... which also stopped working after a few months. This morning, the replacement for my replacement (which I got a few months ago) just stopped working. No explanation, no obvious reason. I have decided that I'm finished with this flat iron. The BestThis is the best hair straightener I have ever used. I've owned over 12 different hair straighteners and none have worked this way. My hair is thick, frizzy, wavy, and unmanageable. It would take me 45 minutes everyday to straighten my hair with my old flat iron and with the Solia flat iron it now only takes me 12 minutes. I love my Solia straightener.
