JaneGAHairBlondeOily HairThick or Coarse HairGreat Buy!!I've always had Chi straighteners, but this time I decided to do some research on straighteners just to see which ones were the best. After reading tons if reviews, I settled on this one (solia flat iron 1-3/4) . It was said to be great for thicker, longer hair, and it is! I like it a lot better than the Chi because it gets hotter, is thicker, reduces straightening time, and it keeps hair straight for a longer period of time. Even though I have to wash my hair daily due to oil, it is still straight! It also beats humidity! The pad/cover is nice too. It folds and has velcro to somewhat secure the straightener inside. It keeps it all together. To prevent the cord from detaching, I fold it like it came packaged and put a twist tie or rubber band around it. The only downside is that the plates lose some of their heat while straightening so try letting it get back to the temperature (red light will blink rapidly) between layers and even between strands. However, I totally recommend this straightener to anyone with any kind of hair!posted Feb 20, 2012Link to this post

JessicaCTHairDark BrownDry HairCurly HairYes Yes Yes And ?The solia straighteners are amazing they get any hair type straight believe me. I'm a stylist and I do any and everyone's hair with this iron. I have used just about every iron on the market and for your money this product is hands down the best thing on the market right now. Now for the downside: This specific model meaning the 1 and 3/4 inch is considerably heavier then the 1 and 1/4 inch that I Love Love Love. This one won't be able to give you the loose curls that the Solia 1 and 1/4inch will. So if you have long hair and you just wanna get it straight no flips then go for it!!!!!!!!!! Solia is by far your best bet.posted Feb 17, 2012Link to this post

VictoriaFort Lee, NJHairLight BrownNormal HairColor Treated HairToo Heavy, Too Bulky, Too Cheaply MadePros: good swivel cord for styling and curling hair, the 1 1/2 " size plates is a substantial size, temperature dial is easy to access, good for straightening only (not good for styling).
Cons: Cheap quality (made in Korea), on/off switch is hard to move (gets stuck), doesn't get super hot, is heavy, is bulky & awkward to hold especially when trying to create curls & waves, hair gets caught in plates & pulls hair out.
I used to have a Sedu 1.5" ceramic tourmaline which I loved but it doesn't have a swivel cord. I bought this Solia but I'm sending it back ASAP.
I'm going to try the Croc.

AnonymousHairMedium BrownDry HairCurly HairThick or Coarse HairThese Work Great, But...About two weeks ago I ordered the Hai and I was very disappointed because it did nothing for my hair! So, I sold those to my aunt and purchased the Solia. I was so happy that it was on sell and hoped that this would straighten my thick coarse hair - it did! These are amazing! I'm only giving it a 3 out of 5 because I have to return them because when I received them they were dented, scratched, and had uneven plates. Also, I love the fact that these go to 450F, not 400F like the description says. I think I finally found the "perfect" flat iron for my hair!posted Feb 8, 2012Link to this post

Taylor P.LA, CAHairDark BrownCurly HairColor Treated HairThick or Coarse HairJust Purchased My Second One! True Love!I got this flat iron over a year ago after spending $100 on Folica.com. This first time I used it, I fell in love. I am 1/2 black amd 1/2 italian, with medium length, thick, wavy hair. My hair holds a lot of heat and this flat iron was exactly what it needed! After styling my hair with this bad boy, the compliments kept rolling in! The flat iron broke after my friend's 2 year old son kept knocking it off the counter on to the tiled floor. Luckily for me, I now have the money to replace it AND it's the weekly deal for $59 PLUS I have a $10 off coupon code. I paid $49 and got free shipping! Truth be told.....I would have paid $100 or more for it and wouldn't have thought twice because it's that good! Get your own!posted Feb 7, 2012Link to this post

MartaQueens, NYHairDark BrownOily HairCurly HairColor Treated HairFine or Thin HairGets Me Out The Door In A Flash! My sister got me this as a Christmas present after I had directed her to the site because my original Solia 1 1/4" flat iron's plug got messed up. I inadvertently chose the 1 3/4" size when I was doing my wish list and when I received it I contemplated returning it because I was able to curl my hair withthe 1 1/4" one easily and with this one since my hair is not as long as it used to be I thought it would be a problem. Well never mind the curling because I haven't even had a chance to use it for that, I have been blow drying my hair till it's almost dry and then running this flat iront hrough it in sections to straighten and smooth it out and I cannot tell you how quickly I'm now done with sytling my hair. In addition it stays nice and straight for daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays and when I wake up all I have to do is just run a comb through it and go, I don'teally have to mess with it after I do the work the first day. So needless to say that this one is a keeper. I'll buy myself a separate clipless curling iron for days I want to change it up!posted Jan 21, 2012Link to this post

VeronicaHairMedium BrownNormal HairThis Can Be Used For Long Or Short Hair!Solia says this one is for longer than shoulder length hair... well maybe its better with longer... but I have no problem with it and I have chin length hair. It works great for my short thick hair and I'm done super quick. I had a a solia straightener previously (it passed away after 2 years) and I will not try another straightener. It doesn't pull my hair and cause split ends like so many do.posted Jan 13, 2012Link to this post

StephanieHairLight BrownThick or Coarse HairLove This!!!I got this straightner for christmas...and I love it. I debated on the solia or sedu for weeks and decided based on reviews to get the solia. My old straightner was the conair infinite steam one and it was ok it broke after a year and a half... and it broke a week before xmas- perfect timing. My boyfriend ordered this on Friday Dec. 16 and it was at our door on Monday the 19th..this was great considering it was FREE SHIPPING. I waited (anxiously) till xmas day.. and tried it that day! I did have to pass over sections a few times but my hair stays straight till the next day! My hair felt so soft, I'm very happy with this product. Fyi I noticed the red light went off after lowering the temp.. I thought maybe it was broke before I let it ruin my day (lol) I googled it and found out it was supposed to do this... I'm in love with my solia! The free gift heat proof mat is ok.. I received one with the conair and its much better..it zips up and has a divider for the cord.. so I'll use my old one for now! I saved $25 and like I said before free (super fast) shipping. I recommend this product for thick hair below the shoulders! Verrry pleased and now addicted! Glad I didn't spend extra money on the sedu. From the reviews I've read their verrry similar!posted Dec 30, 2011Link to this post

SaraHairMedium BrownCurly HairThick or Coarse HairPrefer The SeduI have been using a Sedu flatiron for about a year or so, but broke it (my fault for dropping it). I decided to try the Solia based on the price, but found that I liked the Sedu much better. It didn't glide as smoothly along my hair as the Sedu did and was much bulkier/more difficult to work with than the Sedu. I ended up returning the Solia and bought the Sedu instead. It was more expensive, but worth the higher price. Thankfully, I was able to return the Solia without a problem and got a refund within 8 days. I don't plan to buy a Solia again, but will definitely shop with Folica.com again!posted Dec 23, 2011Link to this post
