I bought my Solia from Folica about 5 years ago and the first thing you need to know is that I have never had to replace it and have never had a problem with it. Back when I bought it there were only a few hundred reviews, not a few thousand. I had a friend who straightened my hair with her Chi iron and it looked amazing and held up well. That said, my hair always looks best when someone else does it for me, who's doesn't? But I'm a frugal girl with not a lot of money to blow. Previously I lived up North and my Kmart-bought Conair worked great, but it wasn't made to work in the humid South apparently. So being the cheapskate I am, I did a ton of research before I made my investment. And let me tell you there are many loyal Chi followers out there, but when I read the reviews of the Solia and saw the before and after pics of girls with hair like mine, plus the temp control (so I am in charge of the damage I inflict on my tresses) I was sold. Not to mention if I hated it I could send it back, because all the reviews are right...Folica is great. Now I am not saying the Solia is for everyone, my friend still swears by her Chi all these years later, but I am sold on the Solia. I have fine hair that's thick and because I haven't processes my hair in years, my curls tend to be bouncy and springy yes, but resistant to straightening. If I blow dry my hair straight, it will curl back up within minutes. With the Solia my hair stays straight until I wash it. I've even gotten caught in the rain and it stayed straight and I do not use much product. I straighten my hair a lot, not everyday, but a lot. I just wish that it came in other colors years ago. I have the basic black (always in style). I don't need a second one...mine's still going strong.

Amazing For First Timer

This flat iron was amazing. Well, for the first one I have ever got, yeah, it's great. I'm Asian so my hair is already pretty straight, but with Solia Tourmaline Ceramic Ion Flat Iron, is eliminated almost all the frizz and made it soft and silky. I am not just saying what it promises, but it really did make my hair prettier. I got plenty of comments on my hair the first day I used it. I would totally recommend this to anyone. Of course, I have not had it long so I have yet to experience a break-down like many comments say, but for straightening quality, it is amazing. Love it! It is also cheaper than others so that is another good thing. Also, Folica sent this right on time. Great service.

Pleasantly Surprised!!

I was hesitant to spend, what I considered, so much money on a flat iron. Especially since I try to only use heat tools 1-2 a week. I felt a difference immediately. It added shine, softness and the way it glided through my hair was so much easier than my old conair I paid $30 bucks for in Walmart. I never realized what a difference it would make. This is an investment I'm happy I made. I would definately recommend this to a friend and will buy more products from Solia! :)

Great Hair Straightener!!

I have long, thick, somewhat 'ethnic' hair. It gets frizzy, poofy, and wavey if I let it air-dry after a shower so I blow-dry and straighten my hair just about every single day, and it has also been color-treated. I have used a variety of flatirons throughout the years, ranging from cheap ones to expensive ones; revlon, conair, corioliss, hot tools, etc. I was debating between a Sedu or a Solia and decided to go with the Solia because it is more affordable and I'm glad I did because I LOVE it!

It doesn't snag and it straightens the first time through. My hair is almost to my waist but it only takes about 10 mins to straighten with the Solia. It heats up fairly quickly, is super lightweight, and doesn't burn my hair, even on its MAX setting. I highly recommend it!

Folica shipping is pretty fast too. I got it in exactly a week.

The Worst!!!

I was totally fooled by the reviews! i currently own a sedu but i wanted to buy a iron to curl my hair so i thought this one would be good choice. Well i thought wrong! The plates are so rough it doesn't even glide through my hair like my sedu. totally disappointed with this product!

Out of all my flat irons i have owned,
chi wet to dry hot tools and conair
This is totally the best! I have thick frizzy curly
hair for a Caucasian and solia made my hair smooth and straight!

Great Value~!

This flat iron is great and what a great value. My $100+ Chi flat iron just called it quits and I wasn't fully satisfied with its performance... it seemed like in less than a year's time it was already not getting as hot as it should. I guess time will tell but with the online discount and 2 year warranty for $65 I don't think you can go wrong!

Already Love It!

This product just came in the mail after a short couple of days. What usually takes me 45 minutes to do my hair, took me 15! I have very think, curly hair.. and lots of it!! I have found that most flat irons do not work for me, and have to return them after one use. Don't think I'll be returning this one!! My only worry was that the plates would not be large enough for my long hair, but these are just fine! I knew that after reading all these reviews, it'd be a good bye, and it deff was! (:

Best Hair Straightener For Thick & Wavy Hair!

I have used the CHI straightener for 5yrs & never liked the "burnt" smell my hair would get after using it. After months of careful research on other straightening tools, I decided to give the Solia a try. A co-worker who has thick & curly hair told me to give the Solia a try and after I noticed how shiny and beautiful her hair looked, I came to Folica and ordered the Solia for myself. BEST hair straightener I have ever used & I had used other cheap brands in the past before the CHI. The Solia not only straightens my hair with no burning smell, but it also leaves my hair soft & luxurious. I would highly recommend this to anyone with THICK & WAVY hair.
