Might Be Too Much Iron For You If You Have Fine Or Thin Hair.I bought this iron to replace one that I've had for 4 years that's been gradually loosing heat. At first it seemed great but it became clear after about 4 weeks of use that it was burning my hair. I got quite heavy use out of my old iron without that sort of thing happening, but after using the solia once every several days for a month or so, I had to go get around 4 inches cut from my hair because it was crisped and frayed like old doll hair. I had been using it at lower and lower heat settings the last several times but it didn't help.
It does otherwise seem like a very nice iron. A bit ligher than my old iron and thus easy to manoeuvre. Heats up very quickly and it's easy to see when it's ready. I think it's just a bit too harsh for fine/thinner hair types. I'd return it but unfortunately I waited too long.posted Jul 18, 2011Link to this post -

Daughter Loves ItWe got this as a free gift with purchase of over $100 and so I gave it to my daughter. She loves it and felt it was better than the Sedu iron that I had for three years until it broke. It does make her natural hair straighter. Solia Vs. Chii have asian/indian hair. if you're deciding between this iron and the chi and are willing to pay for either, get the chi. i have the solia and my sister has the chi and the chi makes your hair flatter and shinier than the solia even though her iron is a few years older than mine. still, the solia is good and i would recommend it.posted Jul 18, 2011Link to this post -

So Much Better Than My CoriollisI have used Coriollis straighteners since 2005 I believe... and I used to love them. Until I went out on a limb and tried the Solia. My hair stays straighter longer, it's smoother and it doesn't have that burning smell my Coriollis would leave behing. Way Better Then A Chi!I am 15 and i recently owned the blue chi nano.I used that for about 4 years and then it slowly started to die,but i could afford to buy another one!So i purchased the hot pink solia straightener thinking it would probably not work as well as my chi.I was so wrong this worked so much better then my chi and it was about $40 dollars cheaper.I have wavy,curly,frizzy ,dirty blonde hair,and i would have to put so many products in my hair to get rid of frizz and to keep it straight!It eliminated all my frizz,showed my natural blonde hilights,gave it shine,and it keep my hair board straight in 100 degree weather and 90% humidity,without me putting in any products!I am in love with this straightener i will never buy another Chi!This is defiantly the best $90 dollars i ever spent!posted Jul 16, 2011Link to this post

Wow!Just got the Solia flat iron in the mail today broke it outta the package and started straighting my hair. I can not express in words how amazing this flat iron is! It didn't damage my hair, didn't snag my hair, didn't leave any heat creases!
