Works Great For Stretching RelaxersI'm African American, and I recently went from natural back to relaxed. I've always been skeptical about straighteners, as I've had bad experiences with them. However, this straightener is positively amazing. It glides through your hair easily with no snagging, and makes it shiny shiny shiny! My only disclaimer is that it won't make your hair that soft, but it will have a lot of body. The softness can be helped with using CHI products after straightening it. One piece of Advice I have is to use heat protectant, and make sure that it's a GOOD one; nothing from the giant beauty supply down the street, because the oils and alcohol in it tend to fry your hair when it comes in contact with the heat from the straightener.posted Oct 7, 2011Link to this post -

Really Great ResultsThis flat iron works wonders on my hair. I have had a couple, my last one was a Hot Tools iron that basically just gave me static and burned my hair. I have thick, frizzy, and slightly curly hair (my mom nick named it "einstein hair") The underneath curls into spirals and the top layer is wavy and frizzy. This iron gets my hair straight in less than 10 minutes! I use Paul Mitchel, The Conditioner, after i get out of the shower, use a large flat brush to blow dry with. I use this on 450 because lower heat takes a lot longer (I dont have that kinda time for my hair....i'm running late for work often). My old straightener would take almost three times as long to get my hair somewhat straight. Honestly Not That Greatwhen i first got this i was excited, but when i first straightened my hair with the solia it was disappointing. it straightened, but didn't give me the beautiful, silky, shiny, soft hair that i wanted. i use products, intensive hair conditioners.. but when i straighten my hair in the morning, before i even leave for school, my hair is flipping outwards and waving. not to mention frizzy. i'm looking for a straightener that actually keeps my hair straight all day and that doesn't cost $80.posted Sep 28, 2011Link to this post -

Got Mixed/kinky/annoyingly Frizzy Hair??? Then This Is A Must Have!!!!!I am mixed with black,white and indian and trust me, i dont have the good hair of the bunch, it is a pain to handle. I just used this on my hair (thick, curly and really frizzy) today and it is FA-BU-LOUS!!! It usually takes at least 2 hours to straighten my hair just for it to frizz right back in an hour or so, or not even straighten completely at all...I work ALOT and don't have much free time. Within a quick break from work,I had time to shower, wash my hair which is a 15 minute process alone to condition ;) put heat/straightening serum in my hair, blowdry it AND straighten it all in 2 hours! (Just the straightening lasted 30-45minutes). I have never been able to get my hair done that quick in my life. Definitely Makes My Hair Smoother, But Not Exactly StraightI got the Solia straightener after considering Chi and Sedu...based on the reviews and the price, I thought I couldn't go wrong! I ordered the Solia in April 2009. Folica was great and I got the product quickly and immediately used it. It left my hair silky and smooth, and my friend, who owns a Chi, mentioned that her hair never looked as shiny when she used her straightener.
While I don't exactly have horror stories about the Solia, I think that performance definitely declined after 2 years. It makes my hair smoother and soft, but definitely not straight. It takes me several passes through my hair to get it to the softness stage, when generally I can use a Chi or Amika straightening iron and my hair will be straight after one pass.
It works pretty well on my sister's hair, which has never been dyed, unlike mine. Maybe that's the issue? Anyway, to make a long story short...initially, I was happy with the product (not ecstatic, which I would like to have been), but after a while, my feelings were more "meh" towards it.posted Sep 27, 2011Link to this post -

My Holy Grail Flat Iron!I got my first Solia 4 years ago and it worked amazingly! I kept it for about 2 1/2 years and then decided I wanted a Chi b/c I got bored and gave my Solia to my mom. The Chi did it's job by straightening every strand on my hair, but it also caused a lot of pulling and tons of hair in my sink when I was done. I recently purchased another PINK Solia to replace my Chi. I have rekindled my love for this baby. It works even better than my first one did, and I will never purchase another type of flat iron again. My moms Solia did finally pass on earlier this year... so It does have a pretty long life span if taken care of. Love It, Love It, Love It!!I have 2 Solia flat irons. One is about 3 yrs old but works perfectly fine,and other one is only 4 months old. I have a medium length thick wavy hair and I use it almost everyday. I always use a Sedu anti- frizz polishing treatment before ironing my hair and the results were pin straight. My hair stays straight all day although there are times I had to pony tail it or sometimes the weather is humid, foggy, drizzling or snow, my hair doesn't change. I highly recommended the Solia flat iron. Buy it and you will not regret it besides Folica.com customer service does a very good job. Any problems with the product you bought from them, Just send it back and they will take care of the rest :))
