Can Not Live WithoutI bought this iron nearly five years ago. In those five years the iron has been dropped more times then I can count, and I roll the cord around it when I am not using it (this action is supposed to shorten the life of the iron). But still my iron looks and works like the day I bought it! I have never had an iron last this long without plates chipping, the cord coming out of the iron, the iron shorting out and just plain dying. The results are still phenomenal! My mom has been using my iron now for over a week. She has ultra course, ridicoulsy thick, curly hair, and the Sedu leaves it smooth and shiny! 3 Years And Still Strong.I've had this flat iron for over 3 years now and I love it!! It gets hot quickly, doesn't pull/break my hair, and glides through my hair smoothly. My hair is naturally wavy so I don't need excessive heat and the sedu has just the right amount without me feeling like I'm burning my hair. The only reason I gave it four stars is because the square edges puts kinks in my hair sometimes (especially when I curl it). No Swivel Cord!!!I think this flat iron is really good! It's good for curling and starightening... I find it doesn't last throghout the day and it is hard to get those perfect curls... I can only get it so it looks like dreads. And there is no swivel cord so it will break soon! The thing gets twisted over and over again and will eventually break.. I think there are deffinetly better ones out there. Also my hair looks like it got fried! it looks really unhealthy and gets frizzy really fast!posted Oct 17, 2011Link to this post -

Cord Issues With Two That I Owned....So this is the second Sedu I have purchased in 4 years. The first one I had worked great for about a little over a year and that is where the trouble began. The cord must have been acting up, sometimes it would turn on and other times it wouldn't and if you wiggled the cord a certain way it would turn on. I really don't think I was rough with the cord or miss handled it in anyway. It was stored the same way I store my hairdryer (which I have had for 8 years and use every day) and the curling iron I have (which I have had for 10 years and use twice a week). Either way, it seemed very temperamental and then one day the on/off switch stopped working. I just couldn't understand why it stopped working.
But I loved it so much and decided to give it another chance and bought another one. Ok. This one barely got used. I would say once a week at best. I never turned the on/off switch OFF. In my mind since the last on/off switch basically stopped working, I decided to just leave it in the on position. I simply just unplugged it when I was finished with it....was even more careful with the cord and never raveled it around the product or coiled it up....just laid it in it's own drawer with the cord extended. So one day after about a two years (again only using it once a week at most, I am a SAHM and don't do my hair much anymore, just throw it back in a ponytail....or wear lots of hats, hahaha) the wiring in the product started to act up AGAIN....This time it was the RED RESET BUTTON on the plug itself. I started to have issues where it would just click off...then I would have to hit the button 5 or 6 times for it to turn on....now the button will not reset and basically won't even click anymore. I am feed up with paying over a $100 dollars for a product that is mediocre at BEST with dependability. I am very disappointed with the longevity of this product and will be considering other brands at this point.....SUGGESTIONS ANYONE?

Second Sedu Flat Iron Purchased.. 5 Yrs Later...And I only bought another one because the deal was so great at the time! My old one is working just as well as it did when I first bought it. :)
My hair is: (dark brown, slighty wavy unless flat ironed, down to the small of my back, long layers)
I liked it because: it heats up quickly, it takes me less than 10 minutes to flat iron all of my hair

Great Flat Iron!My hair is sort of straight already but this really makes it look extra smooth and shiny. I even have received compliments that my hair looked extra shiny. It heats up very fast and the plates are real smooth without snagging my hair. I have the 1" and my hair is kind of long, several inches past my shoulders and it does not take me very long. The iron itself is lightweight which is nice. I liked it so much I ordered the 1 and 1/2 inch one for my mom who prefers the wider plates. I have had this about 1 month and have used almost every day. I have previously only used the cheaper flat irons, so I can't really compare to comparable brands. My previous cheaper one used to make my hair have more static so I rarely used it. I do not have that problem with the Sedu. Great Buy-well Worth The Money.I have relaxed 4bc hair about two inches pass my shoulders. Everything I have previously used has made my hair dry out and super frizzy. It was so dry that just brushing it would leave hair all over the floor and sink. I have rarely had straight hair without totally frying the ends as a result I gave up on straight hair and started wearing two strand twist. I purchased this flat iron because the price after discount on the site was too good to pass up and the reviews were over whelming positive. This Sedu heated up very quickly and appeared to maintain constant temperature. I used the iron on 320 with Bio Silk silk therapy. After only one pass my hair was bone straight and bouncy. I didn't experience any of the usual smoke and burning smell or the need for multiple passes I associated with my Chi. My hair felt and smelled great! Usually, after only one day I begin to frizz up again. To my surprise this did not happen. In fact I was caught in a sprinkle rain without an umbrella and only experienced mild frizzing at the roots. I wanted to test how long it would last and two days later my ends are still silky straight and bouncy and my roots are only mildly frizzed. (We've had rain every day.) My hair looks like weave! While I'm not totally converted to daily flat ironing I may try it more often than bi or tri monthly. Thanks Folica for a great tool at a great price. Miracle!This is the only flat iron that has given me the results I wanted. I have coarse thick medium length hair with a slight curl or body that is very stubborn. The Sedu gives me straight, soft non-flyaway hair and it stays this way all day even on humid days. It was a total transformation. I Think Im In LoveThis is the best flat iron ever!!!!! Is def worth the money and is a great investment. Had a chi but never had results like this. I used to go to the Egyptians but never again because now i can do it myself for free since im a college student and i dont trust "stylist" with my hair.
