MisleadingOk so yea it cuts the staightining time in half sure. I'ts alot better than my old one. HOWEVER, I thought The sedu was made out of 100% ceramic! I did a little test if you will, and foung metal underneath indicating its not Totally ceramic. Now i may have the metal substance underneath confused with the tourmaline but nin the less it isn't not full proof ceramic. I suppose its my fault for not understanding before i bought. Not For My Coarse, Curly African American HairI have been using a Chi for years and loved it...but it finally died on me. In the interim I bought a cheap iron to get me by, which surprisingly did a good job, however, snagged & pulled my hair. Based on Folica reviews, thought I'd try the Sedu. Upon arrival I washed and dried my hair as normal, but noticed that my hair did not have as much body, shine and bounce as with my previous flat iron. I did'n want to be judgmental so a couple days later, I attempted the process again...this time I used my fail proof products...STILL dull, lifeless hair! Still giving the Sedu the benefit of the doubt, I pulled out my "cheap" iron and suffered through the snags and pulled hair...voila ~ shiny bouncy hair. I don't, by any means discount the many great reviews for Sedu, however, if you have coarse, curly, ethnic hair, this probably isnt the iron for you. Based on Folica reviews, I'm going to try the Solia next and if this doesn't work, going back to my old faithful Chu.posted May 20, 2010Link to this post -

Ok...I had the Solia before I got this because my friend had it and when i used her's i just loved it. I have really frizzy naturally curly hair and when i got mine it was good. But Solia is way better. It straightens my hair way faster and leaves a better smoothness and shine then Sedu. I dont think its worth the money. I think you get a better value and better results getting Solia. Plus i only had Sedu for less than 2 yrs and now i have to replace it. Since i gave my friend my first solia when i got the sedu, i'm most definitely going to go back solia. Way better hands down!posted May 17, 2010Link to this post

Fell Apart Before 2 Years Of Use!!!Don't get me wrong, this iron is great at straghtening my curly hair. Doesn't pull your hair and gets them really straight and shiny in no time. My problem with it is that even though I didn't use it that often, after a year of use the plates became less aligned on top of eachother. And just yesterday, less than 2 years after purchase, it fell apart in my hands when I held it on to do a touch up!! I never dropped it and took very good care of it!!! I was sooo angry and disapointed at how little time it lasted! So all in all, great for straightening, but doesn't last long at all!!! I am sorry i even bought it now, because I had read a couple similar reviews bfore I bought it, when I was researching flat irons. The reviewers said it fell apart not long after buying it. I ignored the reviews because there weren't that many, and bought it anyway!!! I was influenced by all the good ratings it had! But now I realize that most ratings are from people who did NOT have it for that long. I wish I hadn't ignored those reviews!! SOO not worth the money. Disappointed...I purchased a Sedu last year. It worked okay. I worked good, but I didn't think that it was anything great. After a little less than a year, the ON switch became faulty and would only intermittently turn on. For over $100, it should last more than a few months.posted May 11, 2010Link to this post

Better Than ChiI got this iron about 6 months ago and previously had a CHI flat iron. The Sedu makes my hair so much more shiny and it stays straighter in the humidity. (compared to CHI) Also I've noticed my hair is a lot less damaged because the plates don't catch on my hair. Great straightner. The heat settings also are really nice. Returning And Getting SoliaJust purchased the sedu on 4/26 and recieved it today 4/28, and that is the only reason i am gave 2 stars instead of one. Folica works very fast to ship your product to you. Now for the flat iron, i must say it feels very cheap and does not work at all on my hair. I have a 30 remington flat iron and it works sooooo much better then the sedu. The sedu left my hair poofy and frizzy. I did not expect that since it cost alot more then my cheap flat iron. Unbelievable! And Not In A Good Way!So first off, I want to say that the job the product does on hair is amazing. It straightens and smooths my thick and wavy long hair. However I have purchased 2 of these within 2 years and let me explain why.. The first Sedu I purchased was in Sept of 2008. Loved it, it worked amazing.. In April of 2009 I was doing by daily routine and plugged my iron in. It didnt come on. I was thinking that possibly my breaker tripped, so I tried plugging it in in several rooms. Still no luck. I was pretty ticked off considering I was on my way to work, Had paid $120 for a flat iron and still had poofy hair!.. Tried it agian when I got home and still no luck. Waited a few weeks and still no luck. Finally I thought it was possibly just a glitch with the iron and I purchased ANOTHER of the same product. Within 4 MONTHS THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THIS IRON!!! I cant believe it! That a product so expensive is made so cheaply.
