Liked It Until It Stopped WorkingI purchased this flat iron in July after reading all the rave reviews. It straightens well, but I do have a hard time alleviating all the frizziness. I have tightly curled African American hair and I don't have a relaxer-going au naturel, so I thought this would do a great job of straightening, like making my hair silky straight. It doesn't. Then last week, the flat iron stopped working. I can sometimes get it to work if I move the cord a certain way, but it's not always the same way. It seems that my flat iron has a shortage in the cord somewhere. Needless to say, after 5 months of use, I'm not happy. I am returning this product under the 2 year warranty that came with it. Bottom line, this is a good product...when it works, but I think you can get the same results or even better with a cheaper flat iron, like Gold N Hot or one of the others.posted Dec 7, 2010Link to this post -

Not As "hot" As I Expected.This iron definitely does not get as hot as 410 degrees. I didn't find it to be as effective as my current flat iron and my current flat iron is over 10 years old. I have very thick and curly coarse hair and I require an iron that is pretty much a miracle worker. I have seen my hair stylist use the folica flat iron on my hair and it seemed great. But when I bought my own, perhaps there is a defect with it and it just doesn't get as hot as it should. I will be returning it shortly.posted Dec 6, 2010Link to this post -

Love This Flat Iron, But It's Lifespan Averages 1 Year.I really love this flat iron. I have really long thick hair, and it takes a lot less time to straighten it with this iron. It glides through & my hair looks so healthy, I've been getting compliments since I started using this iron a few years ago.
Only thing is that I have had to buy 2 in 3 years and my second one is not working now. It was the cord that messed up on the first one, & now again the cord is messed up on this second one.
I'm able to keep all of my other electronics for years, so I don't believe its from me abusing it. I never wrapped my cord or dropped it or anything, it always just stayed on the counter out of the way cord unwrapped hanging loosely. Now I am hunting all over to find a replacement because I can't shell out $120 every year for a new flat iron.
I didn't like the CHi because it pulled my hair, and it didn't make my hair look as healthy as this Sedu. I wish I could find a comparable flat iron to this one & buy it. I don't think Sedu is going to improve or fix the cord issue that many users seem to have, so I want to move on and find another flat iron. If anyone has suggestions, I would love to know.

Disappointed For The Second Time!Will not make the mistake and buy this a third time. Total waste of money, only lasts about a year and then it starts having cord issues. where you have to fidget with it to get it to stay on! It did give me straight hair in half the time compared to cheaper flat irons but sedu really needs to fix the issues with the cord. Died In Less Than A Year And Gave Me Breakage.Well, i love this flat iron it makes my hair sleek, smooth and soft with lots of shine. Unfortunately I have fine hair, and some of it broke off using this flat iron. The broken hair is at the very front of my head and I'lI have to tuck it behind the long hair with hairspray. It also died in less then a year. I got this on my birthday in March 2010 and it died November 2010. I barely ever dropped it, except for three times my cat knocked it over twice. But overall I would totally buy another one it was the best I've ever used! Great Flat IronI have been purchasing flat irons from folica.com for years. I loved the CHI and SOLIA but had problems with durability (all broke down or had the chord broke less than two years). I decided to purchase a Sedu this time as a result of the reviews and must say I absolutely love it. My difficult to manage think, curly, frizzy hair becomes smooth and straight in less than 10 minutes. It's lightweight, keeps it's heat and is easy to manage and store.
