Confused...I've used an old cheap Remington flat iron for years and it STILL hasn't failed on me. But it is getting old so I've decided to invest in a high end flat iron to really get a nice end result and keep my hair healthy. But now I'm reading reviews and I'm a little scared to take the plunge with the Sedu because a lot o the reviews mention the cord failing after a year. i'm one to want to spend my money and make it last, so I'm a bit chicken now on buying. Just OkI had a Hai flat iron that cracked, so I needed a new one. I ordered the Sedu Ionic Tourmaline Ceramic 1 inch and just find it ok. Every once in awhile it doesnt slide, but sticks. Amazing Product!I have been using the 1 inch Revlon hair straightener for a long time, and I finally decided to upgrade! I did a lot of research and realized that this product was the highest rated and the price is very reasonable for a product of this quality. I have curly/wavy hair and it gets super frizzy right after I take a shower. The Sedu was great! I went out right after I used it, and my hair did not react at all to the humidity and moisture in the air since it had been raining. I used a little bit of anti-frizz serum in my hair after I had straightened, but in the past, my hair would still be frizzy after. This iron is amazing! I didn't even have to retouch up my hair the day after I used it first. I know it may be hard to use a product for the first time, but everything about the Sedu is great. It is lightweight, easy to manipulate, and doesn't hurt your hand after using it. It cut my straightening time in half! I really like this product, and this is a great deal. Going Back To My Old Iron.I had been using a Solia 1'' for more than a year and in addition to the poor thing showing some wear and tear from my continuous droppage (still works fine though), I was getting kind of antsy for something new and hopefully better. So for my birthday, I asked for a FHI iron, but I was advised to look at the reviews and see that the Sedu was getting much more positive reviews, so maybe I should reconsider. I decided on a Sedu.
When I first got it, I thought that the iron looked cheap. But I remembered feeling the same way about my Solia because it was so lightweight, which I wasn't used to after using cheap clunky Conair irons in the past, so I tried to ignore it. Plus, the plates looked super smooth and shiny, not like they were painted over with a ceramic coating. I clamped it shut, and was not pleased to see space between the two plates. Without turning it on, I ran the iron through a section of hair, and it seemed like the space didn't matter, it should still straighten. I was excited to try it, so the next excuse I had to go out in public, I turned on the iron to touch up my bangs. First I noticed that the plates were sticking to my hair a little, but new irons do that sometimes. I wasn't impressed with the result, but figured it was that my hair was dirty and I needed to give the iron another chance.
So the next time I washed my hair, It was time to give the Sedu a real shot. I started ironing and the result was straight, but not bouncy, really blah. I thought maybe my ends were scraggly and I was just in desperate need of a cut, but to be sure I turned on my Solia and ironed the next section, which came out great. My hair is not the problem, the Sedu just doesn't do it for me! I returned the Sedu, and I'm getting a new Solia. I can't attest to the quality of the iron as far as the tourmaline or temperature evenness is concerned, but what I can say is that the Solia's dynamic alignment plates are way better for getting the hair super flat. Plus, the Sedu doesn't have a heat resistant tip on the end like the Solia does, so I almost burned my fingers a few times trying to guide the tip of the iron. Not good. Works Great!My daughter uses a Sedu flat iron so I thought I'd give it a try. The one I had been using did not work well on my hair, it did not really flatten it. This flat iron has different temperature settings and heats up really fast! It's light weight and easy to use. Best Flat Iron I've Ever Had!This is my first time using a professional flat iron and must I say, I can definitely tell the difference! I have thick long hair that's been through so much color treatments. I have black hair with chunks of blonde....so it usually takes me about 20-25 minutes for me to straighten my hair with my old flat iron (cost $40). It wasn't until I tried this Sedu flat iron that I noticed only took 10 minutes to straighten! And my hair was much softer and silkier. I felt as if my hair wasn't as damaged as well. I Wanted A Flat Iron That Curled And Straightened!! This One Only Straightens!I have shoulder length hair and wanted a flat iron that could curl and/or straighten my hair. If you want a flat iron that can do both, don't order this one!!! This iron didn't curl that easily. I even took it to my beautician that recommended her GHD to me because it had curved edges. This Sedu does straighten really well, however, there are evenings that I want some glamour and curls. So I ended up sending this flat iron back and ordering the Sedu Revolution which features curved edges for easier curling/waving of hair. I hated paying more money for a flat iron.
