On My 3rd One...I bought my 1st sedu about 6 years ago and LOVE it. I have super thick hair and it really gets my thick curly hair straight. It Was Okay At First...After my Babyliss Pro was crushed, I decided to try a Sedu. It worked well at first but I noticed that after about 6 months, even though it would be very hot, it would not straighten my hair, even on the highest setting, which I hate to use because of the split/damaged ends I'd get. I have very curly and wavy hair, not coarse and thick. I don't have very long hair either, so I figured it should be quick to straighten my hair with a Sedu. It takes me over an hour to get my hair done because of all the passing over and over to get it straight, especially up near the roots. I've gotten burnt on the scalp and on my fingers. You can't put your fingers on it when you're trying to make those neat looking curls/waves or you will get your fingers burnt. My hair ends didn't look great after using this flat iron. I don't know about you but I can tell when people have to flat iron their hairs, and when I used the Sedu, you can tell I have to flat iron. It's not the kind of look where people have to guess "Does she have naturally straight hair or is it naturally curly?" I honestly liked the Babyliss Pro better, it costs way less than this Sedu, and my hair wouldn't frizz up during the day like it does with the Sedu. I currently am looking for a new flat iron. After a little over a year and a half, this Sedu stopped working. When the cord is a certain way, it will light up and when you pick it up, it will turn off. Best Flat Iron Ever!I have been using a chi for about 3 years, and decided to try the Sedu. Boy have I been missing out the past few years! This is the best flat iron by far I have ever used, way better than my chi! The plates are smoother and better quality and therefore make my hair even smoother when I use it. Works Well With Lots Of Pros, But Some Cons.This sedu straightener looks as if it is cheap, but it works quite well. it really straightens my hair quickly, and the results last. my hair is still pin straight, even after a week of straightening my hair.
my hair is very wavy and frizzy, so it would take a lot to keep it straight. the sedu makes it easy.
the cons are that I set it on the highest temperature to achieve the fast results, and about every strand of my hair has split ends. the last time that i cut my hair was about a year ago.
it burns my hands sometimes, and my hands are very tolerant to heat due to 4 years of straightening my hair. in my engineering class, i am the only one who could handle the hot glue gun without pain. even the boys cant use it. and yet, the straightener still buns my hands when i touch my hair.
Also, if you decide to curl your hair with it, that wouldn't be wise idea because the inscriptions "Sedu Ionic Tourmaline Flat Iron" rubs off because the heat from the hair scrapes at it.posted Sep 30, 2011Link to this post -

From The Chi To The Sedu - I'll Never Go Back!I've had my Chi for years. I went from a $20 walmart straightener to a chi so I thought it was the most amazing thing every. Well after several years of the chi, I felt it was time to upgrade. I googled best straightener and the Sedu was the first to pop up. I decided to bit the $130 bullet and purchased it. SO glad I did. It exceeds my chi by so much it's unreal. My hair hasn't gotten frizzy all day, like it normally did by 2pm with the chi, and I live in a very humid state. It's silky and smooth looking. The Only Reliable StraightenerI have pretty normal, non- color treated hair. My hair is long, naturally wavy and gets really curly on the bottom layer. Because of this, my hair curls really easily and well with hair straighteners but finding a straightener that can keep my hair straight all day is really hard. I have owned the same Sudu flat iron for six years, and up until yesterday it has worked fine. I am back on this website to order another one! Seriously the best hair straightener ever. Looks The Same As SoliaI just got this flat iron for $65 thanks to Groupon. I have a Solia 1 1/4 hot pink flat iron that I've had for about a year and a half but when I saw the Groupon I jumped at the chance to get the Sedu.
First of all I'd like to mention how much I LOVE my Solia and it's the best flat iron I've ever had prior to the Sedu I got today. I flat ironed half my hair with my Solia and half with the Sedu and there really wasn't any noticeable difference in performance. I did feel like I only had to do one pass over with Sedu as opposed to my regular two passes with Solia. But I think i will probably burn myself more often with the Sedu and the swivel chord on the Solia is a big plus. I also like the heavier more balanced weight of the Solia. But both flat irons produce beautiful, shiny results.
Bottom line: if I didn't get such a great deal, I would stick to Solia because it comes in fun colors, is cheaper and produces the same result.
