Joanna AThe Result Is Good, The Product Is Poor2 weeks after buying this flat iron the iron exploaded in my hands. Thick greay smoke came out and the smell was terrible. I was lucky enough to unplug it on time. If you buy this iron use it with caution and make sure your feet are not wet in order to prevent electrical shock. Good luck.posted Nov 12, 2008Link to this post

ToniHot/humid SouthThe Maxiglide Is The Bomb!!I am Black with VERY COARSE AND DRY HAIR. I mean NAPPY! I got mine last month and Im very impressed. The steam straightens it IMMEDIATELY. My hair gets pin straight and swings! But still has body in it. Even in humidity, my hair stays straight, kind of like a soft press or blow drying it straight but thats with out any anti humidity product. The difference between it and other ceramics Ive used is that it DOESNT dry my hair out. Ive tested on a section of hair, overdoing it, straightening everyday for about 2 weeks and it did not burn my hair out. In order for the Maxiglide to work and give the optimal results, watch the dvd and follow the instructions. The pins will pull hair, IF you hair is not detangled or if you clamp the plates together and pull through the hair. Glide it through the hair. Do not over-steam. One or two puffs is all it takes. I recommend this for all people but especially for Black peoples hair. Wash with a good moisturizing shampoo, condition deeply, detangle, and use a thermal protectant. For those with very coarse or nappy hair, I like Aveda, Nexxus for shampoo/conditioner and Keracare Creme Press for straightening. The only downside is the pins can be aggravating to clean. Also, remember too much heat may eventually cause breakage, depending on the hair type and hair care.posted Nov 6, 2008Link to this post

DeniseWaco, TXI Will Learn....One of these days I will learn to investigate before I buy a product. I HAD extremely long hair. The breaking process occured over a period of time. Initially I would use it about once a month. Later, as I began to use it weekly, my hair became extremely damaged. I noticed hair in the detangler pins, so I removed the detangler pin and just usethe flat plate. This did not stop the breakage. I have had to trim six inches of hair(I really needed more). In their defense, the company said we might be holding the plates too tight. Now they inform us! What is too tight and how do you know since the handle is huge. I must admit I liked how it straightened but it was not worth the breakage.posted Sep 27, 2008Link to this post

Miss STXThis Is A Must Have Hair Straighter!!!A few years ago, I seen the commerial with this and thought like most that it wasnt real, but about 3 months ago...I finally got feed up with all the flat irons that werent doing the job to straighten my hair. See Im Black, White, and Native American...so my hair is curl but the only time that I get it real straight is when I go to the salon. Now that Ive bought the Maxiglide...I dont have to go to the salon to get my hair as straight as they can do in the salon. So, I would recommend this product to everyone who wants a real product that will get the job done.posted Sep 25, 2008Link to this post

Marisa R.Herndon, VAAwesome!!!I had my Maxi Glide for almost 3 years & it broke 2 nights ago. I immediately knew what I had to do...get online & order another one. I have a mix of thick, kinky, curly, long hair & there is no other product on the market that has EVER straightened my hair the way the Maxi Glide does!I dont understand why so many people have the problem of the product pulling their hair. I have to wonder if its because they are under the impression that because the item has "teeth" that it will detangle the hair as they go - this is NOT the case. You have to brush/comb out your hair prior to straightening it or you will definitely have some major hair pulling going on.The only down side I find in the Maxi Glide is the weight of it. Since my hair is so long (about waist length) it can be a bit burdensome on my arms to hold it for the amount of time it takes to finish all my hair (30-45 minutes). I really would give this product a 4 1/2 star rating, but that wasnt an option.Regardless, I love this product & would recommend it to anyone.posted Sep 24, 2008Link to this post

TjaiBronx, New YorkLong LastingI originally bought this flat iron in July of 2005 and it worked miracles not only my hair, but everybodys (my mom, my sisters, my brothers and my cousins) hair that I did. The only reason why I am buying a new flat iron is because my sister dropped it and it cracked in December of 2006 and it just recently stopped working!!!!! My hair is naturally curly (like really tight spiral curls) and whenever I used it my hair looked as if I used a chemical to straighten it.posted Sep 20, 2008Link to this post

EleniNew YorkDamages Hair And Breaks After A YearI recommended this product to my friends in the beginning, but then realized how much damage it was doing and I got rid of it. I had it for about a year and so did my friend, hers broke right after a year..mine was still good, but my hair was dry and damaged. Its a lot easier to use, since it already has the teeth and combs the hair for you, but that also means it breaks in it the process! I now use the Sedu and my hair comes out very shiny and healthy.posted Sep 16, 2008Link to this post

Mrs.brewerNew OrleansMaxiglide Waste Of Money Or What....???Back in April I put in a order for the maxiglide straightner and got it really quick after putting in a order. The first time I used it i wasnt all too satisfied with the product because then it didnt do what it claimed to do on tv. the next time i used it i put it all the way on 10 and my hair looked amazing but now when ever i use the straightner i have to go over my hair like 3 times. it isnt working good anymore and i would NOT reccomend this proud to anyone because of it.posted Sep 13, 2008Link to this post
