ArleneFloridaMaxiglideWorst iron i have ever used!!! The pins pulled on hair and pulled it out. Did NOT straighten hair like it said it would...And it took forever to get a patch of hair straight; NOt to mention it is so heavy and bulky. What a waste of money. My Sedu iron is much better.posted Nov 6, 2007Link to this post

LouNot What I Expected......It is not like the what you seen on TV. I was not happy with it at all. I bought the Maxiglide and a Sedu at the same time. I am very happy with the Sedu. The Maxiglide did not help my hair any. My hair was still frizzy and it did not straighten my hair. I would not recommend this item. It is a waste of money!!!!posted Nov 5, 2007Link to this post

GiaPhiladelphia, PAGood InvestmentI have had the maxiglide for about 6weeks and I havent experienced any problems with it at all. I read some of the other buyers horror stories but I am happy to say I do not share in their woos. I did not think it was very heavy contrary to other opinions. I was able to cut down about 30-45 min off of my styling time for my hair with the maxiglide. My hair will stay straight for about 6 days but I need to rewash my hair anyway by then so its not a problem. I dont put heat in my hair after I use the straightner so that helps with the health and condition of my hair. Good luck to any future purchasers of the maxiglide.posted Nov 4, 2007Link to this post

ChandaFort Worth, TXWow! Great Product!!!Ive owned a few flat iron over the years with Hot Tools being my first and then a Chi Turbo. The Chi did not compare to the Hot Tools flat iron and I wanted to kick myself for not bucking up sooner to buy a better flat iron. The ceramic coated plates on the Hot Tools flat iron over a couple of years had fried my hair and especially my ends. It was at that time I finally understood the difference between ceramic coated and ceramic infused infrared heat. After 3 years my Chi quit working so I was forced to buy a new flat iron. Since I bought my Chi, technology has changed quit a bit, so I wanted to see if I could purchase a better flat iron and spend less than I did for my Chi. I saw the infomercial for the Maxiglide and was amazed. I did a lot of research on the internet and everyone seemed happy with the performance of the Maxiglide. So I printed out a 20% off coupon and went to Ulta to purchase mine. The first time, I was a bit disappointed since I didnt get the slick shiny hair I was expecting. I used Lanza Straight-Line thermal defense but the Maxiglide did not glide through my hair. I went back to Ulta and purchased Biosilk Silk Therapy and decided to give the Maxiglide another try. Wow! I got the slick shiny pin straight hair I was hoping for.I know a lot of people have complained about the pulling of hair and I was expecting to experience that too. Use of a normal flat iron with no pins has always caused a great deal of hair loss for me on a daily basis. So much so, that Im surprised Im not bald after all these years. But I read and reread the directions to the Maxiglide and took to heart not to apply pressure to the plates when pulling the Maxiglide through your hair. My hair is extremely course and curly so even running a wide tooth comb through my hair still pulls out a ton of hair. But when I ran the Maxiglide through, I did not get the pulling I expected after reading the complaints by other users. From time to time I do feel the pulling but I realize that its me applying to much pressure so I back off and my hair glides through the pins with no hair loss. The one thing I do find difficult to do, is to run the Maxiglide through my hair slow, as the directions state. Im so afraid of heat damage that I want to run the Maxiglide through faster than what the directions indicate. When I dont I have to rerun the Maxiglide a second time. When I take the time as directed, I do get the pin straight hair with one run through. But its a work in progress for me.... I also noticed the slower I run the Maxiglide through my hair, my hair seems to more easily glide through the pins. So if you do feel any pulling, ease up on the pressure and take it slower. Just make sure youre using a good thermal protector on your hair.Other complaints Ive read have been the weight. I was a bit surprised for how heavy it is compared to other flat irons, but its no big deal and you get used to it almost immediately.Im a tough critic, but I would rate this iron 4.5 stars out of 5. Im concerned about the cord breaking as Ive read in other reviews and when you place the iron on the counter, it always seems to want to fall on its side so I have to pay careful attention since Im afraid of the iron breaking should it fall off the counter (which Ive also read). I think with the 20% off coupon and the end price of $63, the Maxiglide is a great buy and well worth the money!posted Oct 25, 2007Link to this post

ValerieOhioThis Is A Piece Of CrapMeet the maxiglide. (it doesnt deserve to be capitalized here)I bought the maxiglide last month. When I took it home and tried to use it, I was very very very disappointed. Yeah, it makes your hair straight. Yeah, it makes your hair shiny. Yeah, it looks good in the end. BUT, its not so much about what the end result looks like, but how you get there matters more. When I first plugged in the maxiglide and tried to adjust the temperature, a VERY bright light flashed in my eyes. The light is very very bright and it is impossible to adjust the temperature with that light flashing in your face. After a few minutes, you are ready to begin straightening your hair. When it is heated up, the iron sizzles because the water from the Steamburst compartment leaks all over the place. And then you run it through your hair. OH. MY. GOODNESS. You would not believe how hard you must yank and pull through your hair. The ceramic pins are a big pain. They The maxiglide even caused my little sister, aged 11pull out many strands as you run it through your hair., to CRY after straightening half of her head. She was very angry with me afterward, and was also upset with the way the maxiglide pulled and tugged on her hair.If you only run it through once, it isnt straight. Run it through twice, still not straight. Five more times, its pretty straight. After straightening one section or two, the maxiglide begins to smell very bad. It emits a burning odor which lasts for hours. It stinks pretty awful. You must take very little sections for the maxiglide to work well. If you take a large section, you will end up having to run it through more than 10 times. Not only is it a pain to your head, but also is a pain in my arm! The thing is very heavy and I have to run that through many times for my hair to get straight. I found myself taking many breaks, in which my head would throb after the maxiglide ripped hairs out of my scalp. Using the maxiglide, your hair will probably end up straight in about 2 or more hours. Thats how long it took with me. So, after all that pulling and tugging and burning, you have straight shiny hair. But after ONE HOUR, my hair gets curly again! ONE HOUR! Having to do so much work, youd want the results to last longer. But, no! Were talking about the maxiglide here. The crappy, awful, painful, smelly, bulky, heavy, hair-ripping waste of money, the maxiglide! So if youre in the mood for tears, headaches, and a sore arm, waste your money on this piece of crap. Go ahead. But I, for one, hate it and would not even recommend it to my worst enemies.posted Oct 25, 2007Link to this post
