YvonneCaliforniaDangerousI really liked the product until it turned into a safety hazard. It has interchangeable plates that slide on and off. I was doing my ten year olds hair and one of the plates slid off and burned her arm and it immediately blistered. I thought maybe I did not put the plate on right so when i checked it, it kept sliding off. It was defective. I returned it and because of the circumstance i was given a full refund. Now I am looking for a new straightener.posted Dec 7, 2007Link to this post

ElzVermontTerrible!I bought the Maxiglide with high hopes after seeing the commercials and whatnot. ive been straightening my hair for years and this is the worst product ive ever used, i dont even understand how its on the market. the little teeth on the plates cause major breakage which makes ur hair very frizzy and damaged. if you use the flat plate that comes with it, when you close it the plates have almost a full cm of space between them. It was a waste of time and I hope I can save someone else from wasting their time on this product as well.posted Dec 2, 2007Link to this post

AndreaUSALove & Hate Relationship!I wish i could give it a 3-1/2 star! When i first got the maxiglide it heated up less then 60sec,and straighten my hair so well! But after a couple of months start rolling in,it would take up to 3min to heat. The steamer is not the best, and he claims it does not burn you?? HAHA it burned the crap out of me! It takes me atleast 2 hours to straighten my thick hair with the iron too and YES it does pull your hair out if it is not completly combed out AND you do not start at the bottom! Once a year passed ive have to go over my hair over&over again(and thats with a relaxer) to get it straight, it started to smell like BURNT plastic & hair, the Blk paint started to chip off too! OMG i would never ever eva reccomend this for someone with thin hair!Oh and there are certain websites that offer different deals for the maxiglide too(do your research)!I have had my MaxiGlide for over 3 yrs now and i think its dead but as i said it was a Love&Hate relationship with the MaxiGlide =/posted Nov 20, 2007Link to this post

EricaMississippiThe Maxiglide Is Awesome!I just purchased the Maxiglide last week and could not wait to try it out. I read just about all the reviews here and was kinda skeptical but wanted to purchase it anyway. What I liked most about Maxiglide was the teeth. The product does exactly what it says it will do. The infomercials are true. The only reason I see this product not working is mishandling. If you try to flat iron too much hair at one time, it will be a nightmare (which is what I accidently did, twice). For my african american 4a type hair, I used setting two. I dont see why anybody would need the iron hotter than 3 or 4 to be honest. I can imagine the iron melting if you have it set higher than 5. That iron gets some kind of hot. I didnt have bottled water so I got the water from my refrigerator, which is purified, and then I boiled it, and let it cool. I also didnt fill the water chamber with a lot of water. And when I got done, I emptied the excess water from the chamber. The first time, it only took me 35 minutes. The second time, it only took probably about 20 minutes. There were times were I went over some sections twice, only because I failed to slow down toward the end of my hair. My hair is only about 7 inches long and I was able to use the steam burst on the ends of my hair without burning myself. I didnt have a problem with the weight of the Maxiglide at all. I do workout but not sure if that was it. If you use this product the way they tell you to, there is no reason for it not to work. My biggest advice is to not get too anxious, do not to try to straighten too much hair at one time, and by all means, DO NOT SQUEEZE the Maxiglide. Youre not flat ironing, youre Maxi-GLIDING. I added some photos of what my hair looks like before Maxigliding and what it did afterwards. I hope they show up. You cant tell me the product doesnt work well.

AnonymousMissouri City, TXHairCurly HairFrom A Previous Depressed Curled Hair Girl To A Fabulous Confident Straight Hair Girl.I want to share this true story to all who felt the same way as I have. From my teens to my adult life I felt guit depressed about my hair. I felt my hair wouldnt looked good unless I tamed it with ponytails, buns, braids or twists that gave me headachs after awhile. I wanted hair that complimented my personality and set it free,I am an hispanic with very thick long curly hair. Ive had my share of flat irons to try to staighten the curl and nothing worked. Ive spent so much money on flat irons that gave me a dry hair look, split ends, and frizzy hair, this made me feel that straight hair just isnt for me until I saw the advertisement of the Maxiglide on T.V. I thought why not if it doesnt work Ill return it. Now 34 years old confident and with fabulous straight hair that seems as if I was born with it. I love it! Ive been using Maxiglide now for 2 years. What really surprised me is that what usually takes me 2 and half hours to iron only took me,GET THIS 30 minutes! WOW! My hair looked amazing and it looked healthy. People believe I have natrually straight hair. Yea Right! If they only knew. I would recommend this to all who feel you havent found that flat iron for that stubborn curly hair that wont straighten. It is amazing! Sorry I couldnt provide a picture. However, I feel very strongly about this product. I wouldnt waste my time to tell you this if I didnt feel this strongly about it. Enjoy your straight hair and feel the difference with Maxiglide!posted Nov 17, 2007Link to this post

JennMiddletown, NYHairCurly HairEhhhI have frizzy, curly hair, so Im always looking for ways to straigten it. My sister and I both have the Maxiglide. She got hers first and I would always use it, until I got one of my own. Well, this may sound strange, but I noticed that my sisters worked much better than mine. Hers made my hair perfectly straight, smooth and soft. It looked amazing...so then I got mine and my hair looked no where near what it should. Now she went off to college so Im stuck with mine lol My hair also stayed nice when it was hot/humid So now Im looking into a Sedu or Solia. The first picture is when I used my sisters Maxiglide. The second is mine. (notice how terrible it looks in the rainy weather at my college graduation :( ) I blurred the face on the second one cuz its just a terrible pic lol

Curly FriesChicagoHairCurly HairLong HairA Mixed Girls Dream Come TrueI read the other peoples review and for those of you who said it took you hours, I dont know what youre talking about. Both my sister and I are biracial and I have very curly, very long, thick hair (as does she). It takes me between 20 and 30 mintues to straighten my hair, which is nothing compared to the 2 hours of pain it takes with a blowd dryer and a regular flat iron. The trick is to do it after you have washed your hair and worn it for a day. Then your hair will not be too dry or too greasy. This is the only flat iron that has ever worked on me because it has those little combs. I love MAXIGLIDE!posted Nov 9, 2007Link to this post

RobinPasadena, CaliforniaWorks Great - Short-livedI cant remember when I bought mine - probably 2 or 3 years ago. It really did the trick for me. I found, however, the accompanying products for the hair seemed to help staighten my hair better, but seemed to dry it out more too. My hair is just mildly curly and wavy, but it makes my hair sleek and smooth. I recently started using it more regularly on my teenage sons hair and just this week the light continued to blink after 15-20 minutes and does not heat up anymore. Its a great tool, but it sure didnt last long! This seems to be a common complaint. I just wonder what makes it stop working! I unplug it after every use and never abuse it. Doesnt make sense.posted Nov 9, 2007Link to this post
