Maxiglide Hair Straightener XP Value Pack

Babycakes<3NEW YORK BABYYYYFreaking Amazing!!!My hair is partially curly and partially wavy/frizzy, so its really hard to get it straight and nice, and smooth and shiny. I used all kinds of products, i went and had it chemically treated and everything. And nothing worked. I even used the house iron, as in the iron you use to iron clothes, yeah...because NOTHING else worked, and everything was just damaging my hair. I used to have gorgeous, thick, full, long hair, and after i turned 16, it went downhill because of all the nonsense i did to it.I got it when it first came out, my mother saw it on HSN. She was tired of watching me go through so much to get my hair at least decent, and to have so many worthless products that didnt even work in the end, so she went and bought it. Of course it was ridiculous expensive, and i was annoyed that she spent so much on a flat iron, which by the way, came with the iron itself, and not this whole package that this site is offering, no it was just an iron, NO replacement plates, no DVD, no nothing.Anyway, i was pretty skeptical about using it because of the steam being directly on top of my hair, in addition to the heat from the ceramic plates, but after about ten minutes of styling my hair, i realized HOLY COW! this works, and it took an hour and a half job, and cut it down to 10-15 minutes at most. I was so impressed. Its been three years now, i believe, that ive had it, its been through so much, through traveling, through me throwing it in the drawer when in a rush, and me coiling the wire around the base to leave more room in the drawer. And it still held up through all that abuse...that is until now, that im buying a new one lol.I forgot the name though, so ive been searching EVERYWHERE for it, because once you use it, i swear you never go back, thankfully i figured out the techniques on my own, and anything and everything i do, works out beautifully. And i read another review saying that her hair grew, and now that i think about it, i think mine did too, because after i damaged my hair from all those other things, i had it at shoulder length, at the longest, it went from my waist to shoulder in about 2 yrs, and i was devastated. But now im trying to grow it back to my waist, and its about 10 inches or more from my shoulders because it hangs over my breasts, and when i bend down it will come under my arms, so ill pull on it by accident as im moving or picking up things. So honestly, if youre contemplating buying it, it was the best thing ive ever used. And it doesnt make your hair SUPER STRAIGHT if you dont want it to, which is great, because it can go either way, it can be PIN STRAIGHT or you can style it so itll curve at the bottom, or flair out, or whatever you want. Its so versatile, i love it. So def. buy it, and if you dont like it, then you probably just dont know how to use it.posted Sep 9, 2008Link to this post

EuniceQueens, New YorkHairCurly HairI Really Like The MaxiglideI have kinky tight curly hair and I have been doing my hair myself for years. I was working with curlers and a blow dryer for over a decade and straightened my hair so well that I fooled hairstylist into thinking my hair was straight not kinky tight fuzzy curls. I was really impressed with the Maxiglide XP my hair is beautifully straight. I did not have to use a blow dryer or curlers or anything else.It was a humid hot day today and my hair was still super straight at the end of the day.posted Sep 3, 2008Link to this post

HypatiaTorontoIt Does Work But...I have had this straightener for about a year and I am on Folica to find something new.You do have to be careful otherwise the little pins will rip your hair right out but the biggest problem for me was overall quality. In about six months the ceramic coating was coming off the plates and now the plates are actually rusting because of its steaming system.posted Sep 2, 2008Link to this post

GwendolynCharlotte, NCWhat More Could A Girl Ask For?I just ordered the Maxiglide a few days ago; I received it yesterday. Since I was 100% new to it I tried it on heat setting 2 and I didnt see much of a result. But, I wanted to test out the temperatures to see which one was right and safe for my hair. I tried it again today on heat setting 4 for my thick hair. I was so surprised at the results. I am an African American female with the kinky, thick, nappy hair that gets to the point where you cant even get a comb through it after it has been washed and dried and currently it is rebuilding from a lot of damage due to chemical relaxers and color. I DONT HAVE A CLUE ABOUT THE MAXIGLIDE RIPPING PEOPLES HAIR OUT. The maxiglide was nothing but easy to use and gentle on my hair; I could count the few strands of hair that came out with the glides. I watched the dvd and followed the directions, and if you do that you will never go back to an ordinary flat iron again. Previously, I had been using a ceramic flat iron from Hot Tools and it worked alright but, I had to add a lot of grease and oils to my hair to get the healthy shiny look. However, with Maxiglide I just added a small amount of carrot oil and I glided away. I had body and bounce when I had finished and my hair felt soft and smooth at the root just like if I had a relaxer but, I dont. Ive been all natural for over a year; I usually do my own hair (wash, air dry, blow dry, flat iron, and style). My advice for potential buyers of the Maxiglide: ----- 1. Dont pay too much attention to all the negative comments about this product that you see posted (ripping out hair, breaking off hair, burning hair etc...) Any product can rip out your hair if YOU have the temperature too high or if you squeeze or do a rush job. I have burned/broke some of my hair out before with a hot comb but, that was not because it was a bad hot comb, it was because I had the temperature too high for my hair. This is the mistake that others must be making. 2. When you get the Maxiglide watch the dvd and follow the directions and take your time until you get comfortable with this product. If you only have 15 minutes to spare then dont use the Maxiglide or if you are already frustrated with your hair then donât work on it with the maxiglide until you calm down. Again personal experienceâI have had braids before and while taking them out I have just got frustrated lost my patience and started yanking the comb through my hair trying to hurry up and get done but, hey it doesnât make that the braiderâs fault. 3. Use the steam function. I must have had to refill the blue water reserve about 5-6 times while doing my hair to get a better result. If the Maxiglide slows down while you are gliding and seems to be stuck in your hair, stop use the steam function and go back to the root and use the steam all the way down the piece of hair and it will be perfect. I did not have to run the Maxiglide through the same piece of hair more than twice at all. So, go ahead purchase the Maxiglide and if you purchase it and decide that you like less manageability from your hair then you can always return it within 30 days. I have been in the mirror since I finished using the maxiglide so you read between the lines. Glides by G.posted Aug 30, 2008Link to this post

AngelWhat A Nightmarewhen i bought this iron i loved it at first. it straightened my hair and heated up pretty quickly, my hair seemed healthy.a year later i had to cut my hair short, because this iron breaks hair, pulls hair and i ended up with split ends. my hair went from looking nice to pretty horrible, so yeah it is a nightmare. i am buying the chi.posted Aug 29, 2008Link to this post

Never MindColumbia, ScJust OkI have thick yet fine wavy hair which is also curly underneath. I have used the Chi for 2 years and saw the Maxiglide and thougt perhaps technology had gotten better than the Chi. I purchased and have used for about 5 weeks now and noticed at my scalp little short hairs popping up. The Maxiglide rips out your hair and this in new growth. It is also bulky (and I have the small one)The Chi is for me.Sorry Maxiglide..It is over rated.posted Aug 28, 2008Link to this post

KatHairCurly HairOk But Try Something ElseMy mom bought this iron after seeing it on TV. She has very curly hair and never straightened her hair. So it sat in our bathroom drawer for a few months until I decided to use it one day. I had never straightened my hair before and was stunned! It made my hair so smooth and silky and shiny. I was hooked. Right off the bat though the commercial lies when it says the sides arent hot. THEY ARE!! I never used the steam applicator (it steams without it too. WATCH OUT ITS HOT!) It was complicated and took forever to use and ended up tangling my hair. And I soon gave up on the de-tangling plate, it hurt and pulled my hair!! I thought that was the only problem. It then started to loose heat and I would have to crank it up to the highest setting and it would still not be hot enough. Then the light that blinks to let you know when its done stopped working and just flashed continuously. While all this was going on I failed to notice the cord until it was too late. After wrapping it up after each use, the base where it connected to the iron got tangled to the point where it couldnt be undone. Then the plastic covering twisted off completely and exposed the copper cords!! I was horrified and then it shocked me!! On top of all this it slowly fried my hair and my ends were so split and fried. So in the end I gave up and tossed it. So basically, its great in the beginning but doesnt live up to the hype. In the long run, dont waste your money. if you do get it, READ THE WARRANTY CAREFULLY!! NOT EVERYTHING IS COVERED!!posted Aug 25, 2008Link to this post

AnonymousDo Not Recommend For Thick, Frizzy HairMy hair is thick and frizzy, and it takes me about 45 min to 1 hr to straighten my hair with this, and my hair is shoulder length. It also makes your hair smell burnt, and damages your hair more than most other products Ive used.posted Aug 24, 2008Link to this post
