Instyler Rotating Iron "As seen on TV"

JenHairLight BrownDry HairCurly HairThick or Coarse HairDefinatley Not Going To Recommend!Well its been a year now since I got the instyler, and if anyone asked me if I would recommend it, I would most likely say no. If your someone like me who has thick long curly hair you would probably spend 40 minutes to an hour doing your hair with this product. The instyler did get my hair straight, however it left it very frizzy and feeling like straw. From what the ads said this product sounded all glamoruus and a highly used product in Hollywood, but when actually seeing the product it looks very cheap and definatley not worth $100. The ads on tv also said it would work on wet hair, well that was not exactly true for my hair, all it did was give my hair a burnt hair smell and make it very frizzy. Another thing I didn't like about this product is that it makes a very loud screeching noise when using it, and you can easily burn yourself with it. After having this product for just a short year I am most definatley looking for a new straightner, maybe a sedu or ghd, not quite sure yet.posted Jan 7, 2012Link to this post

LauraLos AngelesHairBlondeNormal HairOily HairColor Treated HairFine or Thin HairReally Like It, But Agree With Others About The Noise...My hair has a slight wave and is thinning & doesn't ever seem to keep a curl or stay straight. My mom bought me the Instyler Rotating Iron because she thought it would help me to keep my hair looking good for more than a few hours. It of course didn't work as well as the commercials say, but it did work GOOD FOR ME! My hair is shiny, but still doesn't keep the curl very much longer than with a typical flat iron/curling iron.
But I think I was holding the clamp down too hard & now it is making grinding noises as it turns. I would recommend what ever your type is, you don't hold down the clamp very hard.posted Dec 28, 2011Link to this post -

BlakeHairBlondeDry HairColor Treated HairThick or Coarse HairSo Far --- So Good!I got this item for christmas, both the larger barrel and the smaller one. Not going to lie -- I was skeptical at first when I saw it. "As Seen on Tv" items are usually entirely over-rated. Not to mention this tool isn't exactly the most attractive looking.. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The machine is pretty loud, however I found using the iron was more fun than just a regular straightening iron, something about it is addicting and I just love it so far. I have thick hair, and i've tried both medium and high settings and they both get very hot. The only thing I don't really like about it is that it's easy to burn yourself, as it is fairly big and awkward to use around your ears etc. I also think it could be a bit quieter.. however I feel there is no "perfect" hair tool out there but I haven't had trouble with this so far! I would recommend it :)posted Dec 26, 2011Link to this post

Linda D.VirginiaHairMedium BrownThick or Coarse HairDoes 50% Of A Flat Iron, 50% Of A Curling Iron--- "half-___ Job" Is How I'd Describe ItFirst off, let me say I love trying out new products. I have very think, frizzy hair, so the thought of cutting my time in half sounded amazing! .... "too good to be true"... b/c it is. This curling iron doesn't hold a curl to save your life, and it takes the same amount of time to use this product as it would to use a regular flat iron. I was pretty disappointed. "It's great at doing a half-___ job" is how I'd describe it. Does it perfect curls--- NO, not at all, but kinda, sorta... Does it give you straight, sleek hair-- NO, not at all, well kinda.... just be aware that you aren't buying a magic machine, it will save you time, but you're only getting the look of 1/2 of both.
I wish I didn't buy it for $100, I would pay like $30-$40 and be satisfied, but at $100... wish I didn't. I never use it, as it doesn't do as good of a job as either a flat iron, or a curling iron, and to get a "great" look I have to keep using both.posted Nov 3, 2011Link to this post -
NatalieNew YorkHairDark BrownDry HairCurly HairRelaxed HairLooks Are Decieving...My dad ordered this product online for me because he said he was tired of paying for my trips to the salon. During this time, the Instyler was all over TV getting amazing reviews, so naturally I was sold. When it first came, the Instyler looked so high tech and smooth that ofcourse I thought it could work wonders on my hair. The first time I used it, my hair was about 2 weeks in relaxed and not straightened (and long!), and it worked amazingly. It left my hair shiny, straight and smooth. I was completely impressed and thought I would never have to go back to the salon again. I attempted at straightening my hair after I air dried it, but failed. It didn't look as silky and soft as it did when I first tried it. So I decided to only use the iron after I did rollersets on my hair. During this period, I had decided to stop relaxing my hair and go back to natural (transitioning). So I cut a big chunk of my hair, so all the ends were gone. I kept using the Instyler every time after I did rollersets which was once a week. And as my hair was growing during the year, it became more dull and dry. At one point my hair was all ends and I couldn't figure out why. My stylist and my mom would insisting that I stop using the Instyler because it was damaging my hair. But I believed so much in the iron that I thought otherwise. So when my hair was back at it's original length, I decided to cut a big chunk once again and do the long bob cut. (I thought my ends would look the same way it did the 1st time I cut a big chunk.) But I was wrong. It looked even worse, more like an afro type. And I was still using the Instyler! Ofcourse, I didn't think it was the iron that damaged my hair, so I decided to go back to relaxing my hair. Nothing worked, it was still damaged and dry. Until finally I opened my eyes and noticed it was the iron that had been damaging my hair this whole time. So now I stopped using the iron and got into doing treatments to help my damaged dry hair.
Bottom line: DO NOT BUY THIS IRON!!! IT WILL COMPLETELY DAMAGE YOUR HAIR!!
I miss my long hair :(posted Aug 21, 2011Link to this post -

NicoleHairNormal HairOily HairCurly HairKills My Hair In Many Ways.I actually bought this for my mom, but she never used it so I just kinda took it. I was in love with it at first, it straightened my hair beautifully. My hair isn't thin, but it isn't thick. I had to put on the highest setting, so if you have thick hair then you really shouldn't get this. after about two months it started to loose it's heat when I used it. I get split ends like nothing and I'm always getting my hair cut. my hair constantly gets caught in the rotating barrel and gets ripped out. It fries my hair if I even think about curling my hair. Also the curls are really big and not as pretty as the ones you get with a regular curling iron or flat iron. My hair stays straight for maybe and hour and then its back to being wavy. >:( not impressed at all. I really regret buying it.posted Jun 18, 2011Link to this post

Kayla M.HairBlondeOily HairThick or Coarse HairIt's..alright..i Guess. This was the first straightener I really ever started using frequently. Yeah. It works, but eventually I learned that it actually that your hair is sort of puffy after wards. I used to think that volume was pretty and I didn't like bone flat to the head, but I've learned now that the InStyler barely straightens your hair, and other straighteners can still give you volume! I don't really suggest getting this product. I have to go over each strand 3 to 4 times on high just to get it basically not wavy. Also, it burns your hair very badly. You can even smell burned hair sometimes.posted May 24, 2011Link to this post

Katie M.USAHairMedium BrownDry HairCurly HairRelaxed HairSplit Ends !!!!I got this straightening iron after begging my mom for awhile . I had heard from a bunch of places that the InStyler worked really well and gave you sleek, shiny hair . Having very curly , unruly hair myself , I was desperate to try anything , Well , when I first opened up the box , everything looked great . I liked the heat protectant pad it came with , because my friend (who has very coarse hair) said it burned her floor when she left it on there to heat up . I turned it on the high setting . It heated up very fast , and was happy with this . When I started using it on my hair , I noticed that it sounded like a can opener .... but I got used to it eventually . My hair did come out very sleek and shiny , like many people had told me . After a few months of using , however , I noticed my hair looked very short in places in the back , and I had TONS of split ends , even though I deep-conditioned every day and took very good care of my hair . I went to my stylist for her opinion and she told me that the InStyler TUGS at your hair , and gives VERY BAD heat damage . It'll take awhile to to grow the short places back in . I forgot to mention , I have long hair , which may contribute to the tugging and split end factor . If you have short to medium length hair , this product may work for you . Just get LOTS of heat protectant !!!!!posted Mar 24, 2011Link to this post
