Conair Infiniti Ionic Steam Straightener

AlexandraDon't Recommend It.This was the first hair iron I ever bought. I have fine, wavy, somewhat frizzy hair but I have a lot of it. At first, it worked fairly well. My hair was straight and it stayed for the most part but over time it started to work less and less. It got to the point where I would straighten just my bangs and about 5 minutes later it would wave again and this would happen on days it wasn't even humid. Product didn't help keep my hair straight. My hair would also get rather tangled after using this (even after combing it out before hand), by the end of the day get frizzy, snag my hair, and split all of my ends terribly.
Recently I got a Sedu and man what a difference. Instead of wasting $100+ on this, get something worth the money because this iron does not deliver at all.posted Oct 7, 2010Link to this post -
KaitlynHairBlackNormal HairFine or Thin HairIt's Like Any Other Drugstore BrandI've had this straightener for about 3 years now. When I first bought it I was like WOOOW!! it was pin straight. Oh, I forgot to mention my hair type. I hav asian hair, it's really long, wavy, and thin. In other words, it's not hard to straighten/style, but it is VERY difficult to keep the style in place. So within the first few months of this straightener (I use it everyday), my hair was pin straight. I can sleep on it and the next day it's still straight. I own a lot of straighteners and at the time, I thought that I had found my miracle. As time went on, it didn't get as hot (like I can touch the plates, but then again I can touch plates that get up to 410). Straightening time is still fast, but I have to keep going over the same spot because my hair tends to get back to being wavy after literally two minutes. So I gave up on trying to get it pin straight. It just doesn't get pin straight anymore. I find that the steam does work however, and that's probably my favorite thing about it. I don't like how this straightener is so big because it means that I can't curl it (which is something that I can do with a thinner straightener).posted Sep 25, 2010Link to this post

Bryn D.HairDark BrownCurly HairThick or Coarse HairUmm.. Toss This Sh*t In The Garbage.k well all those pretty videos about how it gets the hair SOOO straight and beautifully silky.. ? yea they are a load of bull... well at least for my hair. I have had it for a year and am forced to use it since i havent gotten a new one and i hate every second of it. The ends of my hair are curling in minutes after I just straightened it. I have to run over one piece a numerous times and its just rotten. Move on to a better one folks, nothing good to see here.posted Sep 19, 2010Link to this post

MarilynnIt Was Good!! Until It Stopped Working...I bought this flat iron via internet, and when I first tried it, I was THRILLED. It straightened my hair great with minimal damage (unlike my 2 old ones) I was 100% happy with it! But then one day I tried turning it on. Everything seemed fine but then I noticed that it wouldn't heat up. Man I was SO bummed.. Up until this day I still don't know what happened to it. It was a waste of nearly $100.. This could possibly be a defect or something.. But overall it was a great flat iron while it lasted.posted Apr 25, 2010Link to this post

MimiMiddletown, Ct. USABest Straightener I Have Ever Owned! This straightener took me months of debating until I finally decided to buy it on an impulse. After going home, and picking up a container of distilled water (because it costs next to nothing and highly recommend using it), and using on my super thick asian hair, I have to say the results are amazing! I had previously straightened my hair with a TIGI Bed Head iron which I owned for a little over a year now and I was not happy with the results. It did what it was supposed to which was straighten my naturally straightish hair to pin straight but after a few hours, my ends will start to look unsightly. My hairs been chemically treated tons of times but I've always taken care of it (heat protection spray, protein fillers after color, moisture shampoo for chemically treated hair). My TIGI would always make my ends seem that much more burnt and damaged and it was like that before I first used the steam straightener. After using it on the steam setting and passing it over my already flat ironed hair, I was amazed. My hair felt super soft and silky and I only had to pass it once. Now, I know alot of people say it takes a few passes but if you do it slow enough (which you should to let the steam condition) it should only take one pass. But regardless it takes many with any straightener. I was able to run my fingers through my hair and after completing my whole head it looked thinner than ever. And by thinner, I don't mean flatter! My hair had volume without having to use any products! It's been a week since I bought and the results still surprise me. Although I have reallllyyyy thick hair, I use the straightener on the low steam, 2nd to highest heat, and high detangeler comb position. To get my pin straight results I don't even need the highest heat or the most steam to it. What can I say? I'm glad I finally purchased this straightener and will never return to my old ones again. TIP! When filling up the cartridge with water, tilt it at an angle and slowly pour into the hole. If you pour too fast or flood the small hole, the air inside will only allow you to fill it a little bit. It took my a while to realize this and now, after filling it once it lasts enough for half my head on the steam setting. Some may find refilling annoying but its completely worth the time for this straightener. First Photo: Outdoors, Without Flash, Natural Lighting Second Photo: Indoors, With Flash, Artificial Lighting

SheevHairFine or Thin HairHard To UseI used my friends' straightener, and she happens to have this one. I used it on her younger sister's thin, straight hair. I liked that it uses the steam from the water you put in there, not making your hair as damaged. But when I actually went through it, it was pretty hard to actually get it all the way through. I noticed it kind of takes awhile to get done. You have to go through at least three times (even for thin hair) until it's actually straight. However, the ending results, which took awhile, was beautiful. I would not reccomend this for curly or thick hair.posted Nov 29, 2009Link to this post

JessicaOttawa, CanadaGets The Job Done, .. I Guess.I've own this straightener since Christmas of 2008, and boy have I been waiting to get a new one. I dont know how to describe this straightener. It's sort of bulky and heavier then others I've tried. Mine makes a rattling sound every time you pick it up, which kind of gets annoying after time. I see some people have rated this straightener 5 stars. This is not a 5 star straightener. I'm going to write the Pros and Cons of this straighter for you to see. Pros- 1/It can get you STRAIGHT hair 2/Gets fairly hot (400F) 3/Gets hot quickly (around 20 seconds for lowest setting) Cons- 1/ The prongs bend super easily 2/ The top blade gets hot, so you can't hold it down 3/ The plates DO NOT seal completely when they are closed! 4/ There is little bumps on the plates that are annoying 5/ Prepare for split ends, even using heat protection. 6/ Leaves hair more rough then silky 7/ Doesn't work with the weather 8/ Does not flip/curl very well My suggestion: This straightener isn't worth it's price for sure. Don't buy this straightener if you plan to play with it for more then a year, or you will end up in the same situation as me. This straightener was a HUGE upgrade for me from the old 20 dollar one I use to own, but as time went by, I realized that I could of done much better. This straightener will work for you if you can't order online because it is available for the same price at WalMart. If you are planning on ordering from Folica.com, then look up other brands. Search for Solia and Sedu straighteners before you decide that you MUST get this straightener.posted Oct 8, 2009Link to this post
