MeghanBaltimore, MDDoesn't Snag Hair, Makes My Hair Feel Soft & Smooth!I had a CHI and it quit on me - I had it rigged so it would work but it was a hassle and I decided to try this brand because I had heard good things. I love the straightener! It works really well but it doesn't make me feel like I'm torching my hair. It makes my hair feel really soft & smooth, & the most important part for me is that it doesn't snag my hair. Overall this is a great product - I have had it for about 6 weeks and so far so good. Also, the mat/pouch that comes with it is a nice add-on. I use it when I'm traveling, both to store it when I'm packing & to use on the counter top if I'm not sure if the counter can take the heat.posted Jan 29, 2010Link to this post

LeslieNew York City, New York4/5 Simply Because Of Minor Details, But Otherwise It's Great!i bought this today and was apprehensive, because i'd never tried any FHI products, and it was a bit expensive. i opened the box and turned it on but was confused when i tried to adjust the heat. apparently, there are no adjustable heat settings! (at least not on the one i purchased). when i tested a small patch of my hair, i realized the heat level would more than suffice. my hair immediately straightened out with only one or two passes. i ended up doing my whole head of hair, and had minor trouble with my roots, which is typical as they're the curliest part of my hair anyways. when i was done, it looked great, but the rubber handle with the raised, argyle pattern really hurt the "webbing" between my thumb and index finger after a while. overall though, the best straightener i've bought in years.posted Dec 26, 2009Link to this post

Shanna VelezFhi For Fine HairFine hair doesn't even need alot of heat and the flat iron was horrible. The plates didn't grasp my hair enough to straighten it. It took me 3 to 4 strokes to even get my hair straight. I wouldn't waste your money. If it doesn't work of fine hair its not going to work on thick FYI.posted Oct 25, 2009Link to this post

CindyBest Iron By FarI've tried the CHI iron along time ago and I immediately became obsessed with flat irons, and I was determined to find the best one, considering prices and my budget of course. After looking into the CHI I figured it wasn't all that great so I began researching FHI. I've had the FHI technique for a good 2 years, and I tend to be a clumsy with expensive things. I dropped it a countless amount of times and it even started cracking just recently. It still works like a gem. The plates are hot enough but not too hot so that it damages your hair. It is a tourmaline iron with ceramic BEVELED plates. It is perfect, and has worked perfectly for all of my friends so far. I tried the solia recently and it feels so cheap and light compared to my 2 year old FHI. The folica product detail doesn't serve this baby justice. Look at the description on fhiheat.com! It is amazing! 5 stars I never realized how great my iron was until I tried the Solia. I know my views arent biased because even my little sisters can tell the difference! FHI is the way to go!!posted Oct 10, 2009Link to this post

StaceyGeorgiaHairAfrican AmericanMedium HairGreat IronHaving used a CHI and several others I feel this is a great iron. I am African American with medium length relaxed hair. In between relaxers, my FHI keeps my root straight enough to manage my hair. I use it along with CHI silk infusion or the the CHI thermal protection spray. I sometimes travel and do hair for friends and family and everyone loves when I flat iron their hair. They look as if they left the salon. The key is to protect your hair but dont weigh it down with a lot of product. Overall its pretty sturdy. Ive dropped this flat iron numerous times and it still works as good as the day I bought it. I have never had any problems or received any complaints.posted Jul 12, 2009Link to this post

Janet In FlPalm Beach County, FL - Humidity-villeVery Damaging To My Highlighted Hair...I have naturally curly, sometimes frizzy, color-treated hair, and because theres no temperature setting onn this one, the excessive heat that it comes to (I think someone here said 410 degrees. No flat iron should have a "carte blanche" heat setting!! Im sure FHI, when designing this flat iron without a temp. setting (for whatever reason Ill never hazard to guess why) they of course made it heat up ultra hot so it would straighten a mooses mane. Problem is, if your hair is more of a fragile state like mine is, youre cooked!...literally ! My hair is so broken off...too much damage was done before I figured what was going on...FHI appliances are probably fine...but only those with a heat setting. Whatever in heaven made them decide to make a flat iron with no way to alternate the heat settings, I dont know...but Ill bet there are a lot of damaged heads of hair out there...they ought to pull this one off the market without delay!!! I have actually burned my hands when going to grab the section that I just ironed through! Its a hazard...are you listening FHI???posted May 23, 2009Link to this post

MeganSeattle, WAGreat Straightener; Better Than The Chi In My ExperienceI have the new FHI technique (G2) in pink. I love this straightener! The ionic technology really helps to straighten my hair without frying it... I can also straighten my thick hair in record time. One word of advice though: do not buy this straightener if you are looking for a curling device, because it gets too hot (410 degrees) to curl and burns your hands. Otherwise, it is an excellent straightener, especially for the price. It has very similar features to its higher end counterparts (such as the platform), just without temperature control. Personally, I dont mind that it doesnt have temp control, because it hasnt fried my hair thus far.posted Mar 22, 2009Link to this post

Stefanie ParkerNot Good For Thick HairI am 25 and have been flattening my hair since I was 14. I have had 4 different flat irons. The FHI was the worst ceramic iron that I have owned so far. I have very thick, coarse, wavy hair. Its possible that this product isnt good for my hair type. I dont think it got hot enough and it didnt maintain its heat. I had to stop half way through flattening and allow it to reheat. I recomend the CHI over this one.posted Feb 27, 2009Link to this post

KayVirginiaHairCurly HairGood If Your Caucasian, Not So Much OtherwiseI bought this after having a CHI for several years to do my daughters hair-she is African American and Caucasian & has fine, very curly hair that is relaxed. The FHI didnt work well-where the CHI left it smooth, the FHI left it puffy. The CHI straightened well, the FHI not so much. I think it would work fine in Caucasian hair such as mine, but if you need more power, look elsewhere.posted Jan 23, 2009Link to this post

HilaryCanadaHairCurly HairLove It!I just bought mine today (its purple!!). I have long wavy hair and it straightened it in 5 minutes flat. My sister, who has think, coarse, frizzy, curly hair -- 15 minutes. Its amazing, and it hasnt snagged a single hair.My only gripe is that I know I dont need the full 410 degrees to straighten my hair -- I wish I could adjust the temperature to minimize the damage :(posted Dec 30, 2008Link to this post
