Way Too Hot On Outer Casing!I purchased this flat iron after using a friend's Chi. Her's was the pink breast cancer awareness version. I purchased it not because I like pink, but because part of the proceeds went to research. When I received the flat iron, I plugged it in before getting into shower. When I got out to use it, the thing was so hot on the outer casing I couldn't even touch it. It had only been heating for 10 minutes. I tried it several other times and some of the time it would get super hot on outside, others it would not. This particular flat iron was very unpredictable and I was scared it was going to burn my hair or melt! I have since read other reviews on different sites about this product, and many people say the quality of Chi has gone was down with the increase in production. One person actually said that 25% of all of them were defective. I don't know whether the one I got was defective or if that is how it was supposed to be. None the less, I returned it in fear of it burning me. I own a Solia tourmaline as well, and liked the way the Chi made may hair feel better, but the Solia never got hot on the outer plastic. Best Iron Ive Ever HadThe iron itself makes me hair nice, silky, and flat. Not like any other iron ive had. The silk infusion is pretty nice too plus it smells great.. different but great :) I would definitely suggest other trying this out even though it's a tad pricey it's worth it.posted Apr 7, 2010Link to this post -

Buyer Beware!!NEVER GET A CHI!! They do NOT stand behind their product. I got the Breast Cancer Awareness pink straightener a few years ago (for $140!!) and it started shorting out in the past year. After checking in with the Trade Secret that I purchased it from they said that all Chi straighteners have been shorting out and they recently changed their warranty to One year. They recommended I call Farouk Systems which I did and was told there was nothing they could do for me. This Flat Iron Is Wonderful!!!I have had alot of differnt flat irons over the years. I bought this chi flat iron and I love it!! It works so well on my hair and my hair is really hard to style!
