The Chi Is Awesome!This is the second CHI that I've bought and it was much less expensive than the first. My first CHI lasted for about 4 years and the only reason that I even needed another one is because my puppy chewed up the CHI cord. It is an excellent product. It doesn't get too hot to where I feel like I'm damaging my hair. I get compliments all the time on my hair. It never has those heat creases from straightening and it always looks so smooth. I live in Florida and even when its very humid out, my hair still looks great - thanks to the CHI. It takes so much less time with the CHI than regular hair straightener. Chi Over Solia (personally)Just want to say, I purchased a Solia 2 years ago based on Folica's review's & the customer review's. It did straighten my hair but never the same as when I would go to the salon & have my stylist straighten it with a Chi flat iron. I just bought a Chi & I wish I had purchased the Chi first because I would not have invested my money in the Solia iron. I am african american & I used it on my hair & my daughter's hair & the results with the Chi vs. Solia were night & day. Rip ChiI would not purchase a Chi again. I bought my CHI at a beauty supply store (I'm in Canada) for $170 CAD. First, I was disappointed with only one heat setting. I have very fine hair and I prefer to have a choice as to how hot the flat iron goes. Second, the CHI does not run as smoothly over the hair as other flat irons I have used (HAI, Paul Brown Hawaii, etc). Third, after only one year my CHI has started to spontaneously turn off before it even heats up. The red power light goes off and I can touch the plates with my finger. What a waste of money. Works Really Well, But Is Very Cheaply MadeI have owned 4 of this exact model. I keep buying it because it works sooooooooo well and makes your hair really really soft. However, it is very cheaply made. The first one i bought, just decided not to turn on one day. The second one did the same thing. The third one, this is the best, broke when i was straightening my friends hair. All of the sudden i smelt something burning, i look down at the straightener and the ceramic plate had come loose come from the tool. i gently pushed it back it with the other side and continued straightening her and set the iron down for a minute until i smelt something burning again...and i looked down and the straightener had COMPLETELY MELTED. like, the plastic melted off the plates and burnt a hole through the travel case i sometimes keep it on when im not using it. With the 4th one i bought, the on/off switch got stuck in the "on" position so i had to unplug it every time i wanted to turn it off, which wasn't a big deal, until the on off switch disappeared one day into the core of the iron and melted, which then broke the straightener, again. No doubt it works well, but it is very cheap. i would put up pictures that i took of the melted iron for proof, but they only allow before and after shots.posted Apr 14, 2010Link to this post

4 Years And Never Had A ProblemAs of only the last couple of months, it's been in and out and has now officially died but I had this CHI for 4 YEARS and I've dropped it literally at LEAST 50 times since I bought it in May 2006. If your CHI dosen't last that long, either you don't know how to take care of it or you're unlucky and got a defective CHI. I've never met anybody in my life (I've been to two different beauty schools and salons in 4 years so I'm pretty well versed with CHIs) who has EVER had a problem with a CHI. I've recommended it to at least 100 different people since I've gotten it and I've never heard of a single disappointment. I have EXTREMELY kinky African American/Dominican hair and it kjeeps my hair gorgeous, silky smooth and STRAIGHT for WEEKS without washing!! This Chi Is The Best Thing That Ever Happened To My Hair!!I was so excited when I received my chi and I thought it would take two weeks which it only took three days to come in!! I was thinking in the back of my head that this was going to be one of the dull flat irons I've tried before but it wasn't! I washed my hair the same day I got it in the mail, and I wanted to try it out and it was awesome! My hair had so much body and shine and thanks to folica, I have a Chi that I could afford and keeps my hair looking great! So if anyone is thinking about purchasing this item, its so well worth it! Love It.i bought this, ordered it on like a sunday night and received it in less than a week. i have naturally straight healthy hair, but wanted to be able to make my hair pink straight. i had an old cheap ceramic straighterner from a beauty supply store and the ceramic was srting to come off nd look brownish so i invested in the chi and i love it. i use it with the chi silk infusion and my hair looks pin straight the whole day, healthy and shiny and soft. its worth the money and i used the ebay guide to tell if its authentic, and it issss, so no worries if you're skeptical.posted Apr 12, 2010Link to this post
