Not As Good As They Used To Be....I got one from a salon within Walmart for $92 and they now come with a 2 YEAR WARRANTY! Not kidding, I was very excited when I saw this. Anywho, my boyfriend dropkicked my Sedu by accident so now it doesn't work at all so he bought me a Chi. I have had 2 or 3 Chi's in the past. They straighten well most of the time, but this new one just seems even cheaper than the old ones. It pulls and snags my hair, it just doesn't glide through easily at all, you can just feel and hear it destroying your hair. I also use the Chi thermal spray and it makes the plates stick to my hair. Grrrrrrr. So I'am going to do what I can with this one until my replacement Sedu comes in and then return the Chi. Maybe it's just my hair type, but I'm sure im not the only one this has happened to.
Before I owned a Chi I had a Solia, did not work well with my hair. Then I got a Sedu and had it for almost 2 years without one problem (until the boyfriend of course), hands down it is way better than the Chi and I would highly recommend the Sedu to anyone!posted Dec 14, 2010Link to this post -

Great Package And Awesome Straightener !!This is a great Straightener for thick, Coarse hair!. My little Sister has thick, coarse hair and this straightener works miracles! What i do is, wash her hair with a regular shampoo & conditioner. Then put in a leave in conditioner & let it air dry. Then i detangle it. I use the Panteen or CHI hair protectant spray. Ha! What A Joke!So, I have had 4 Chi flat irons in 3 years; they were ALL warrantied out. All the flat irons they sent me were brand new, not refurbished. Each one had just stopped working. The longest one lasted 6 months. The last one I got back from Farouk, the place that handles the warranty, broke TWO months after I got it. After that, I decided I was finished with them. Well, recently I decided I would send it back and get a new one, in hopes that this one would work. It had been after my one year warranty, but in the pamphlet that comes with the iron it says you can still send it back for repairs. So, I called just to make sure and they said they don't do that and there is nothing they could do. They have TERRIBLE customer service, but it works great WHEN it's actually working. Save yourself some money and the headache and go to Wa-Mart and buy an inexpensive flat iron that does the SAME results and works ALL THE TIME. And let me add, that the majority of the people that say they love it, haven't had it over a year. When it breaks, and it will, after you warranty, your screwed and lost $110+. Great Flat Iron Â?¥I've been using this flat iron for about a year and a half, and it still works great! Since I'm Asian, I have already flat hair. But the thing is, I want to give it volume. The CHI does just that. It's perfect for styling, giving you great curls and flips, since this flat iron has rounded edges. It has a perfect non-damaging heat (360F) and gives an even amount of heat to every strand of your hair. My sister has curly hair and used this, and it straightens it without getting out the shine. Not As Good As It Used To Be...My new CHI is not as good as the old one used to be. I had an old CHI that would work great. I would slide it through my hair once and it was ready. It would stay straight all night! But that one broke because the cable would only work only if I shook it around. My new one takes at least three or four times and if I start to sweat in the least, my hair curls up again. I Had 4 Of These, And They Were All The Same!Alright. I've had 4 of these flat irons. 3 black and one light pink.
They all lasted less then a year, pulled hair out of my head every singe time i used it, they would become very undurable.
Now these things i'm going to say now, only happened with one or two, the cord wouldn't swivel anymore and it would get all tangled up and unplug while i was using it, one of the plates on one of them was hanging off, one plate on another had a chip in it and i never dropped it or anything.
I'm sure there are more cons but i cant think of them right now.

So yeah, when i would order them the first day they would be amazing but after that, lets just say, i'd prefer a walmart one. Well i mean, it does the job, like it gets your hair pin straight, but it yanks hairs out and your hair gets so damaged.
And your probably wondering why i kept buying them, its because i thought i'd come across one that was better quality, i dunno, i didnt want a walmart one and i never heard of the solias or sedus or anything.

Oh and the pink one, i must say, was the worse out of them all!

Good While It Lasted But Didn't Last Long ...When i got the CHI i LOVED it i never had a straightener that left my hair so soft and shiny (my hair is not usually shiny naturally) . I've been through a lot of straighteners about a drawer full and this one mad the difference, i used it on everyone and it was great however, it lasted me all of 4 MONTHS! i was furious one day it just didn't work and i never dropped it, so I'm guessing i got one from the bad batch but i do recommend this.

3 Chi's In 4 YearsI love how fast I can straighten it, but the warranty is only a year and they usually don't last but about 15 months...so I always have to buy another one. I have been through 3 so far. I have normal, sort of wavy, mid-length hair, but I use it almost everyday. I would recommend this product for someone who won't use it everyday. I think it would last longer. The last one I bought (the one I use currently) kind of pulls my hair (like cheap ones do), and for a product I paid $130 for I would expect it to work better.posted Dec 2, 2010Link to this post
