Bion Fine Ceramic Digital Hair Straightener

JerryBakersfield,CA,USAGood Hair StraightenerMy wife really likes hers and says it is a good hair straightener. As I have read in other reviews, hers went out- no power at all. I took it apart and found the SW-128T thermal fuse bad. I am in the process of trying to purchase one online. I do not think these cost but a few dollars. If the company could fix this problem, I would give it 5 stars, electronically speaking. The unit is well made other than the thermal fuse problem. A WORD OF CAUTION: DO NOT BYPASS THE THERMAL FUSE! They are in there for a good reason, the unit could overheat and catch on fire! Jerry KK6ACposted Dec 4, 2009Link to this post

AnnaSavannah, GAWore Out Too Quickly! This was my first straightener and i was completely satisfied with it until i used a Chi. Compared to the Chi, the Bion left my ends frazzled and dry. A year later the straightener is completely worn out. I used it maybe a few times a week but now it snags so much hair its impossible to go through the motions of straightening my hair and it leaves it looking dry and not completely flat like i like it. I would not recommend this iron to anyone looking for a high quality product. (I have barely wavy, normal, long hair)posted Nov 26, 2008Link to this post

LaurenMassPretty GoodI bought my Bion about 5 years ago and it just fried out on me last month. Its a fairly good streightener, I bought it when it was $230 and it was a good investment, but I think i want to try a GHDposted May 31, 2008Link to this post

JohnOttawa, ONThese Irons Are Inexpensive To FixI had the same problem with my daughters iron malfunctioning. Local service was not possible. I took it apart myself and found that the SW128T 10A thermal fuse had blown. This is a $2 part available from many electronic component stores. You do need to be handy to change the fuse.posted May 8, 2008Link to this post

KegsNY, NYFantastic!OK, I read a lot of those bad reviews and had to write in to say how fantastic these straighteners have been for me. I have owned mine for 4 years now and have only just started to see some problems with the temperature - for some reason it starts to cool down when actually straightening the hair, but if I just stop for 15 seconds or so between each bit, it goes back to the right temperature. Even if they did break now, I have well had my moneys worth (and they cost $200 4 years ago, so a bargain now!). Hair is left feeling smooth, shiny and it doesnt snag your hair like many cheap straighteners.I did have some initial problems with the straighteners switching itself off the first time you turn on, but just had to reset and then it was fine. This problem completely disappeared when I moved house about 8 months later, bit weird but I was happy, so it didnt seem to be a problem with the straighteners themselves. When these finally break, Ill definitely be buying the same ones again.posted Feb 19, 2008Link to this post

AlbertaNot Worth It!Like alot of others I see...mine worked great for about the first year.. now it just wount work at all, I think for the amount of money this costs it should last way longer!! ReneseFloridaRepeat ReviewerI am here again. Once more to say only good things about this product. I brought mine July 9, 2004 and it is still working like I just brought it. IT "STILL" WORKS GREAT. It works great on my fine african american hair, especially when it is nearly time for a perm, and on my step-daughters puerto-rican curls. It straigtens and shines.posted Sep 6, 2007Link to this post

SakuraBrooklyn, NYHairCurly HairAmazing While It Lasted..I bought this flat iron almost three years ago, and since then there wasnt a single day that passed when I didnt use it. This is the only iron Ive ever had (and Ive been through A LOT) that could turn my extremely thick, curly hair POKER STRAIGHT and give it a glass-like shine. Of course, there is a technique to it, but if you know how to work a flat iron I GUARANTEE you that youll get the results youre looking for.Bion is without a doubt the best designed flat iron on the market. The plates are SO smooth - theyll never snag or pull your hair, and the digital thermometer is great too. Its so compact and feather light..no crampy hands or uncomfortable bulkiness to get used to.Still.. I guess all good things come to an end. My poor Bion finally crapped out on me a couple days ago. At first it would show the error message a couple times and heat up to insane temperatures (like 250C), and then after that it would keep turning itself off - eventually not turning on at all, no matter how many times I pushed the test/reset button - which, by the way, will usually solve the problem if it doesnt turn on. Granted, I didnt take the best care of it - sometimes I would forget to turn it off and leave it on all day on the highest setting, Id drop it all the time and Id wrap the cord around it when I put it away, but still.. it had a good run.Im going to try the Sedu next because of the good reviews. Im going to miss my Bion though :( Its definitely worth a shot, I really loved it.PS - the pictures arent the best quality, and I havent worn my hair curly in so long that I dont even have any "before" pictures - but I hope they give you some kind of idea of how straight/shiny this little iron will get your hair.

AshleyOthers Are BetterI had this flat iron, and its was ok. It stopped working after a year and the cord attachment broke. I would recommend the Sedu. It works better than this iron and I had it for well over a year and it only broke because I stepped on it by mistake. I bought a new one and its great.posted Apr 25, 2007Link to this post
