AnonykissAtlanta,GAHairDark BrownDry HairCurly HairColor Treated HairThick or Coarse HairGets Natural 4a/b Hair Really StraightI went looking for a Titanium plate flat iron after my beautician used the Croc Infared on my hair. I have 4a/b hair and she got my hair pin straight. She explained that Titanium plates are often used with Keratin treatments because they get the hair really straight. The real test was when I left to go home in the scorching hot Atlanta heat and my hair did not get frizzy. I was waiting for a great Folica coupon code to buy the Croc 2 and I happened upon this flat iron at an off price retailer without ever having heard of it before. I recognized the Babyliss Pro name from it's Nano Titanium flat iron that has rave reviews on Folica. SInce the price was so low, I thought I'd risk it and give it try. I was impressed. The plates glide through with no friction and I can get really close to my roots because the flat iron is pretty thin and flat. It even allows me to get the edges to get my hair really straight.
What prevents this flat iron from getting 5 stars is that the comb is pretty much a joke, especially on natural african american 4a/b hair. It snagged my hair pretty bad. The good news is that the comb is easily removable. The next "flaw" is its curling ability. I prefer body curls that have lift at the roots; this flat iron does not do that well because the plate casing is so thin. That is great for getting close to the scalp, but not for curling. You can achieve a curl, just not the type I like. Lastly, this flat iron isn't big on the shine factor, like my Solia or the Sedu Revolution, without the use of a shine serum or heat protection spray (I use One n' Only Argan Oil). That really isn't a big deal since you should always use a heat protector on your hair when using any flat iron.
Overall it is a pretty good Titanium/Tourmaline flat iron however, this is not a Croc 2 substitute. It's a pretty excellent alternative if you are on budget.posted Jun 30, 2011Link to this post -
