ChristineHairAfrican AmericanThick or Coarse HairDon't Expect Too Much..It does what it says it will do, not with out a little frustration. It will get to the roots that even the smallest irons can't, but don't expect anymore than that. It was able to straighten my type 4 Afro-textured hair.posted Dec 23, 2009Link to this post

ArletteNew YorkHairAfrican AmericanIf You Have Coarse Or Thick Roots, This Product Isn't For You!I am an African American with relaxed hair. I bought this as an alternative to frequent relaxing. This was a disappointment, it really didn't straighten my roots plus it was too hot on the scalp. I would have been off flat ironing my roots instead.posted Nov 29, 2009Link to this post

EmeraldLove It!I recently purchased the babyliss and I love it. The only thing is you HAVE to comb your hair before you use it to make sure it can get through it. I love it. It works great on my curly new growth.posted Nov 6, 2009Link to this post

CherylSan Francsico, CaHairCurly HairNot As Good As A Flat IronThis root straight iron/comb does not work as well as a flat iron. For really curly hair, it does not really get the roots straight and flat. It is easy to use, but results are just fair. If you want your hair straight, your best tool is a flat iron even for the roots. Also, you can feel the heat from the tool, when you are using it around your face and ears.posted Aug 22, 2009Link to this post

CharOhioGoodI have never tried the rsession tool iron so i cant compare the two but for the price the babyliss is worth the try. Ill try to explain what its exactly feels like.its a mix between a hot comb/ hair color brush. the iron sits in the middle of the combs on both sits. you brush thru your hair and its easily wraps around your hair. It doesnt feel hot but its certainly hot. try it by letting it sit a minute by your roots. I use it on my roots and around my hairline. It works but it doesnt burn your hair and thats the reason i like it. I keep it on the setting of 20. - 25. im mixed with blonde hair. i would say this brush is more or less for your straightened roots that want to revert back to their curly state.posted Jul 16, 2009Link to this post
