AngieHairDark BrownNormal HairBurnt SmellI've been using this flat iron for 4 years already, I really don't have a problem with it to be honest. But the one con I can't get over is the burnt smell. Once I turn it on.. My room starts to smell as if something was burning and don't get me wrong I clean the plates on it twice a week (&no I don't use any products on my hair just heat protection). Not only that, once I'm finished flat ironing my scalp (&hair) gets a funny smell from this flat iron.posted Aug 5, 2011Link to this post

MarieTo Me Better Than ChiMy sister was in cosmetology so she was given the babyliss in her kit. I've never not liked the results. Gets my hair straighter than the CHI. For the dry statement, it all depends on what you are doing to your hair not what the flatiron is not. Anything used the right way can have great results. My sister has had it for almost two years and it has never not gotten hot. LOVE IT!posted Jan 27, 2010Link to this post

ParisBronx NYHairCurly HairBest I've Had So FarI do have to admit that if you do not know how to maneuver you hands the right way [yes] your hair will get caught up. I have to say that that is the only problem I have had with this iron; that and the blades are not completely flat. As far as the end results my hair comes out amazing every time. I have lose curly hair that smells water from a mile away. I can spend two hours in the salon and come out with beautiful flowing hair but the slightest hint of humidity can ruin that. I have used my iron and my hair last longer in humid weather. These are the kind of results that I am looking for so yes I think you should go with this product.posted Jul 10, 2009Link to this post

Rachel KrohnAlright.i owned this straighter for a year and it gets really hot and straightens quickly but leaves your hair looking fried. the only way to make it look shiny is to put a whole bunch of silk therapy in it afterwards. not great. but not horrible eitherposted Aug 30, 2008Link to this post

Hair Advisor!Good Productive been straightening my hair now for 4 years. i dont have thick hair, i just have a lot of hair. my hair type is wavy, not straight, but has a very lazy curl. ive been using the babyliss hair straightener now for a little bit over a year. i wouldnt say i straighten my hair everyday, but at least once to twice a week. like many of the positive reviews, the straightener left my hair smooth and shiny. i didnt leave the temp on high, i left it on medium heat about 320. as mentioned before, i straighten my hair once of twice a week, typically on the weekends when going out, or during the week when i feel like dressing up for my fashion retail job. ive recently purchased a chi in replacement of my babyliss because the straightener began to make my hair dry. as well, my hair began to snag between the blades. i dont use any straightening product in my hair because, my hair has always been easy to style. and i still dont feel if i used a serum in my hair for styling it would change the effects of the straightener because it straightened my hair nicely before. ive decided to switch to chi because that is what my hairdresser uses & she has recommended me to use. and despite what most people have said about the babyliss being used in many salons, ive switched hairsalons about 3 times in the past 2 years, and all hairsalons have used the chi straightening products. i do recommend this product, but i would say it depends on how often this person plans to use this product. but, like many straighteners it will dry your hair with use, i just wish the straightener didnt make my hair look fried when it isnt really. the chi has been giving me good results so far.=)posted Jun 24, 2008Link to this post

AlmFloridaPulls My HairWhen I first received the iron I was excited because all my hair stylist rave about the product Babyliss. But I was disappointed when I first used the iron, it pulled my hair every time. At first I thought I was using too much hair in the section I used but it still pulled anyway. I was not happy with it.posted May 3, 2008Link to this post

LaurenAustin, TxLamePrevious to owning this less the awesome straightener I owned a Chi. After two years the cord started splitting and then it literally blew up. I was in need for a straightner, quick! I went to my local gorcery store and bought on for a MUCH cheaper price than the one listed here. I brought it home and was certainly not expecting it to be as good as my last one, but it is really crappy. The blades dont even close all the way together. There is so much space that barely even straightens my hair. If I close the blades with my hands it closes all the way, but it is too hot to touch it. It does go up to a really high heat and you can choose the actual temperature you want, but it is very cheaply made. If you MUST have a straightener now and cant wait to invest in a CHI, it is definately cheap. If at all costs wait for a CHI!!!posted Jun 12, 2007Link to this post

JessiOkayi got this flat iron before i got my new one. babybliss works okay, but even with smoothing products it dries out my hair alot. and it doesnt keep it straight. my salon told me not to use it anymore, so i bought a wigo(the red one)and it is the best thing i ever bought!!! DO NOT BUY A BABYBLISS, BY A WIGO(THE RED ONE)posted Feb 16, 2007Link to this post

AnonymousChicago, IL.Questionable QualityI bought my first BaByliss flat iron two years ago and was in absolute heaven. I am biracial (black/white) and have very curly hair. Im also a television news reporter and wear my hair straight when Im on the news. Initially, I was VERY satisfied with the iron. I was able to get my hair bone straight-without the frizz in about 30 minutes, which normally takes over an hour with other irons. After about a year, the flat iron stopped heating up. I thought it was due to wear and tear (since I used it every day and carried it around every where I went). So, I bought a new one and it started doing the same thing a few months later. Luckily, I saved the box and manufacturer warranty info. I called them, explained the situation and they sent out the Pro TT model(pictured above with the red plates) free of charge. So, hopefully this model works out...if not, Im taking my curls and money elsewhere!posted Oct 4, 2006Link to this post

BrendaStopped Working After A Short TimeI bought this iron for my daughter and it worked great but shortly just stopped heating up. Would not recommend this product as spent a lot of money on something I would think would have lasted longer.posted Jul 3, 2006Link to this post
