MAVALA Stop for Nail Biting and Thumb Sucking

Happy DadMavala StopThis stuff is incredible! A pacifier is easy to take away, what do you do with a thumb? After taking my sons pacifier away on his 3rd birthday my 4 year old asked my wife the next day, "on my next birthday are you going to cut my thumbs off?" She really did not want to suck her thumb, it was just a habit. We painted her nails and put Mavala stop on her thumb for two weeks, and she has not sucked her thumb in over a month. My wife also came up with a good Idea for kids that talk back, she painted her pinky, now when they talk back they get the pinky. They talk back very little now.posted Feb 8, 2008Link to this post

Mom Of ThreeIllinoisMy Son No Longer Sucks His Thumb!Well, I was skeptical. I read the review on Amazon and they were ALL great. There was one who said ... if you cant bring yourself to taste it ... than dont order it. Well, that made me hesitate to order it ... but I did in the end. It smells terrible and it tastes terrible ... my son completely agreed. He was such an avid thumb sucker and really unwilling ... but two stomach flus in less than a week ... said "time to give up having fingers in our mouth." I think this is way better than those awful and expensive devices you can order that they wear on their thumb. At night ... my son does wear a band aid on his thumb as it isnt something he can conciously not do when hes sleeping ... but he is cured ... the best money I ever spent!posted Feb 8, 2008Link to this post

CrystalHouston, TXBroke My 12 Year HabitI am a professional nail biter. Ive been biting my nails for 12 years ever since i was 4 years old and I am now 16. I was always embarassed when my friends would ask "Why does your fingers look like that?" I tried so many methods to stop, but none of them worked. I bought Mavala STOP thinking this product will probably not even work. Trust me, it worked. The more I kept my nails in my mouth the more worst the taste was (and LONGER). I definately reccomend this to anyone who has problems with biting their nails.posted Feb 7, 2008Link to this post

Vinita PatelChicago, IL.It Works! My 11 year old son always use to bite his nails. Ive never had to cut his nails with clippers...until now. I apply the product on him 3 times a week. I have actually seen a nail bed on my sons hand. Amazing! Before, he would just bit it off. His nail beds look so much nicer. I also put the solution on his fingertips. He use to bite the layer off...not anymore!!! He is also happy with the results. In fact, yesterday, he took the polish out of the medicine cabinet and applied it himself. I really recommend this product.posted Feb 5, 2008Link to this post

AimeeGreat Product! We used this on for our eight-year-old nail biter who wanted to stop biting his nails. It was an instant success! He put his hands in his mouth briefly on a few occasions, but hated the bitter taste and was quick to pull them back out. He did complain that he could sometimes taste it when he was eating finger foods, but he just used a fork until the urge to bite his nails was gone. We put it on his nails every-other-day for about two weeks, and almost two months later, the urge seems to be gone. After trying many products and methods, we finally found something that works!posted Feb 5, 2008Link to this post

AnonymousI Can't Believe It Worked! We used this for my 3 1/2 year old son, who CONSTANTLY sucked his thumb - all night and all day! I figured that I would have to try several ideas before he broke the habit, so Id might as well get started. I painted this on his thumbnail one night while he was sleeping (I didnt want him to know that this was something I did to him. We had prepared him for at least a month by telling him that one day hed be such a big boy that he wouldnt need his thumb anymore and it wouldnt even taste good! He was getting excited for that day) Needless to say, when he woke up in the middle of the first night, he had a hard time. I slept with him for the night and gently held his hand so he wouldnt forget and put it in his mouth - it really tastes awful! But by the 2nd and 3rd night, he just kept his thumb near his face, but didnt put it in his mouth. So, Im amazed that my little guy, who was really hooked on this thumb has completely stopped - cold turkey! He did tell me this morning that he sucks his thumb for 2 minutes, only on Thursdays, but Ill take it!I highly reccommend this product!posted Feb 5, 2008Link to this post

CindyMarylandMalva StopBought this to get my daughter to stop biting her nails. It does a great job -- the only thing is you have to be diligent and apply every 2 - 3 days. I found that after about 2 days the bitterness is not as intense and my daughter began biting again.posted Jan 30, 2008Link to this post
