JessGreat! All It Takes Is A Little Patience.I thought this was going to be much more difficult than it was. Took about an hour the first time, despite my hair being thin from getting waxed professionally every 4-5 weeks.
All it takes is a little patience. And considering the three pack of wax (which will probably be enough for about six uses) costs 1/4 what one professional wax does, this is a great money saver!
From the other reviews, I realized a coffee cup warmer and mirror would be essential. Don't try to wax yourself without these items!posted Feb 26, 2013Link to this post -
JuneUnited StatesHairDark BrownThick or Coarse HairLove This!Best wax I have ever used. I started the search for hair removals over 15 years ago and have tried a variety of products and methods. Once I found this, I bought the three pack, took me about 6-8 months to get through, and before I ran out I bought another set of three. It's easy to use and it works very effectively on hair down there, but also for arm hair, nostril hair, my very unwanted mustache and forehead hair. The little bottle of oil that comes with it is important; a little goes a long way, but it will protect your skin from being pulled.posted Feb 6, 2013Link to this post

BrittaineTexasHairLight BrownThick or Coarse HairFirst Time Self-waxingI had gone to have a brazillain wax and i loved it but it was a bit pricey.. so i started looking... i looked at so many products but most include the musil strips and i knew those were not good for ur sensitive areas.. i found this product and read every review until i decided to try it. it was very decently priced (this is sold at Sallys but it is double the price) and i got a discount! i finally got it and i was so thrilled! it worked as well as when i paid SIX times the price to have it done! it was harder b/c i had to wax myself but the result was the same! i would reccomend doing it quickly or finding a way to keep the wax warmed, maybe keeping it in a crockpot of water or something b/c reheating works a time or two but after that u r out of luck. all in all i would say that this is a great product and that i recoomend it to any one who has the desire to have their body waxed but cant afford the 'salon' prices. Good luck! its going to look awesome!posted Jun 4, 2012Link to this post

LisaCAHairThick or Coarse HairNot Sure Yet???I didn't have much luck on my first pass. There is much hair left and I didn't have the nerve to continue. Not too painful, just that the wax left too much hair. There was a fair amount of breakage. I did not end up with the smooth finished that I had hoped for. I tried different techniques that I had read in other reviews. One seems to work as well as the other. I intend to try again. We'll see.posted Jun 3, 2012Link to this post

GracieHairLight BrownCurly HairI Will Never Go To The Salon Again!I was a little skeptical about purchasing a home waxing system because I know how much the hot wax hurts when I used to go to the salon (no matter how long I've been getting waxed)! But upon reading the reviews on Folica and wanting to save a fist full of cash every month, I decided to try it. In addition, I've never used hard wax before and I didn't know how I would be able to wax myself properly. With my eyes closed and a quick prayer, I braced myself for horrible pain...1, 2, 3...! To my surprise and delight it didn't hurt and it wasn't uncomfortable at all!!! I couldn't be any happier that I purchased this wax!!!!!!! I just want to tell everyone I get waxed just so I can tell them what product I use and that I'm able to do it myself LOL! It may be a little time consuming, but it is definitely worth it!posted Apr 4, 2012Link to this post

CateHairDark BrownThick or Coarse HairExcellent Bikini Wax Product, I Use It On Underarms, Face, Even Legs Too!I have had salon waxes done on my legs for years, but hated going for a bikini wax. I tried a number of different home wax products, but they were terrible. They were sticky and messy and painful and didn't remove the hairs effectively at all. When I decided to try this product, I was skeptical, but the idea of saving so much money and getting the bikini wax done in the privacy of my own home pushed me to give it a trial.
I'm so glad I did. The very first time I used this product, I had excellent results. As I've gotten more experience with using it, I'm even happier. It is inexpensive, easy to use, minimally uncomfortable and very effective. I've been using it for two years now and will not go back to any other product. I even use this wax for my legs! It works far better than the soft waxes and strips.
A few tips to make your waxing experience more successful:
Do trim hairs to about 1/4" for best results. Too short and it won't be able to "grab" hairs well. Too long and it will be painful. I'm not sure why it's so much more painful with longer hair, maybe because the wax sticks to more adjacent hairs or pulls more? I don't know why, but that's been my experience. Ymmv.
Do apply the oil first. Use an ample amount and rub it into the skin well. Then use a hand towel, going against the direction of hair growth, to remove excess oil from the hairs and make them stand up away from the skin.
Make sure the wax is heated adequately, but not too hot. It should be fairly thin, like honey consistency when you apply it. It will feel hot, but not burn (test first before you put a bunch on delicate skin!) But make sure you heat it enough. If the wax is not hot enough, it will not cling well to the hairs and it will go on very thick and gloopy, which wastes a lot of wax both because it's so thick and because you'll have to repeat applications more to get all the hairs. Remember to stop and reheat your wax if needed during a session. I usually have to reheat a couple of times (perhaps a warmer would also work) to complete a session.
Work in small swatches, not too wide, several inches long. If you wax too much at once, it'll be hard to remove and more painful.
This stuff is not any more messy than any other wax product I've used, but drips are inevitable and the hot wax cools quickly on contact with surfaces. It can be very hard to remove from tile, impossible to get out of fabric or rug. I suggest putting down newspaper or some other disposable protective barrier beneath you while you work.
A small mirror with a stand that tilts to allow you to position it as needed will help a lot if you're waxing the bikini area by yourself.
Keep an old tweezers around to remove the last stray hairs and designate that tweezers just for this purpose. Residues of wax will stick to your good tweezers and can ruin them for effective use on the finer hairs of the face. If you buy pricey high quality tweezers, you know why this is important.
This wax is fabulous for other areas, not just the bikini zone. I use it on my underarms and on my legs as well. Surprisingly, it works much better and is cheaper overall than other waxes marketed for the legs.posted Feb 7, 2012Link to this post
