CateHairDark BrownThick or Coarse HairExcellent Bikini Wax Product, I Use It On Underarms, Face, Even Legs Too!I have had salon waxes done on my legs for years, but hated going for a bikini wax. I tried a number of different home wax products, but they were terrible. They were sticky and messy and painful and didn't remove the hairs effectively at all. When I decided to try this product, I was skeptical, but the idea of saving so much money and getting the bikini wax done in the privacy of my own home pushed me to give it a trial.
I'm so glad I did. The very first time I used this product, I had excellent results. As I've gotten more experience with using it, I'm even happier. It is inexpensive, easy to use, minimally uncomfortable and very effective. I've been using it for two years now and will not go back to any other product. I even use this wax for my legs! It works far better than the soft waxes and strips.
A few tips to make your waxing experience more successful:
Do trim hairs to about 1/4" for best results. Too short and it won't be able to "grab" hairs well. Too long and it will be painful. I'm not sure why it's so much more painful with longer hair, maybe because the wax sticks to more adjacent hairs or pulls more? I don't know why, but that's been my experience. Ymmv.
Do apply the oil first. Use an ample amount and rub it into the skin well. Then use a hand towel, going against the direction of hair growth, to remove excess oil from the hairs and make them stand up away from the skin.
Make sure the wax is heated adequately, but not too hot. It should be fairly thin, like honey consistency when you apply it. It will feel hot, but not burn (test first before you put a bunch on delicate skin!) But make sure you heat it enough. If the wax is not hot enough, it will not cling well to the hairs and it will go on very thick and gloopy, which wastes a lot of wax both because it's so thick and because you'll have to repeat applications more to get all the hairs. Remember to stop and reheat your wax if needed during a session. I usually have to reheat a couple of times (perhaps a warmer would also work) to complete a session.
Work in small swatches, not too wide, several inches long. If you wax too much at once, it'll be hard to remove and more painful.
This stuff is not any more messy than any other wax product I've used, but drips are inevitable and the hot wax cools quickly on contact with surfaces. It can be very hard to remove from tile, impossible to get out of fabric or rug. I suggest putting down newspaper or some other disposable protective barrier beneath you while you work.
A small mirror with a stand that tilts to allow you to position it as needed will help a lot if you're waxing the bikini area by yourself.
Keep an old tweezers around to remove the last stray hairs and designate that tweezers just for this purpose. Residues of wax will stick to your good tweezers and can ruin them for effective use on the finer hairs of the face. If you buy pricey high quality tweezers, you know why this is important.
This wax is fabulous for other areas, not just the bikini zone. I use it on my underarms and on my legs as well. Surprisingly, it works much better and is cheaper overall than other waxes marketed for the legs.posted This weekLink to this post -
RebekahUKPleasantly Surprised!I ordered this product with pretty low expectations. Much to my surprise this stuff is incredible! I love it! It left me just as smooth as a salon waxing. This product automatically became an item I can't, or no longer want to, live without! I'm so glad it comes in a 3 pack! Will definitely be buying more.posted Jan 1, 2012Link to this post

MaryMNNew To The Waxing WorldI have never gotten a wax job at a salon, but ordered on a whim. Tested on my legs and it worked great -- got really excited and tried my arm pits too -- forgot to apply the oil first....big mistake! Did the other one with the oil and it worked well. I will order again and venture to other parts after a little more practice!posted Nov 14, 2011Link to this post

TaraWorks!I was 18 when I secretly ordered my first kit, and trust me I did my research. Despite the negative reviews, I tried this kit, and it works amazingly! I currently live in a college dorm, and waxing takes about an hour and is flawless. Plus, the smell is minimal and the mess is practically none. I will NEVER try another kit! Though in the directions, it says to start in the front and work your way in and back--just a friendly tip, do the opposite. Starting at the back allows you to pick up the end of the wax much easier than trying to 'flick' it up as the directions suggest, because if you overlap the wax onto a smooth area just a little, it leaves a little 'handle'. Great product, been using it for years!posted Oct 3, 2011Link to this post

LindaFl.First Time User. This was my first time ever for using wax- I've always just shaved. I was a little nervous about the pain, but was surprised it wasn't all that bad! The wax was a bit messy, but like I said, I'm new at this, so I'm sure I'll get better. Also, it dried a little quicker than I thought it would, but I adjusted as I went along. I followed the instructions and got good results. I missed a few places, lol, but that was my mistake, not the waxs'. I will do it again this evening to clean up what I missed the other day. Thought maybe I should wait a few days before doing it again. I dont believe it addressed this in the instructions but I will read them again. I am definately glad I tried this product!posted Apr 21, 2011Link to this post

TamaraGreat Product If Used ProperlyThis an awesome wax! I have use this wax for probably 10 years, since the company went out of business from which I bought wax originally. It stays pliable a little longer than a hard wax not specific for bikini area. The three things you must do, regardless of the directions: Definitely use the supplied oil. Definitely use a stopwatch and remove immediately at 1 minute ( I start rolling up the edges for a grip at 50 seconds). Last, and against the instructions but how you will get the most hair and the least ingrown hairs, is that you must put the wax on in the opposite direction of the hair growth and remove it in the direction of hair growth. Any wax I've ever bought will come with directions instructing to put the wax on in the direction of the hair growth and remove it against the growth. Seems like common sense would tell you that you want to remove hair in the direction it grows so it won't break off but will pull in a more direct line out of it's root socket. I have tried to use wax pulling against the growth of the hair and it always breaks a lot of the hair off, which is how you don't get a smooth finish and also how ingrown hairs develop. Plus, it is much more difficult for the hair to come out like that, therefore it hurts more. I've been waxing myself for many years (like 15 - 20 years) and I follow what I just explained, plus, I always go over each area twice. It's like the oil makes some of the hair slick and it slips out of the wax. However, if you don't use oil, the wax sticks to the skin, making it very difficult to remove and much more painful. So, I just go over each spot twice but only apply the oil the first go around. If I remember correctly though, when I first started waxing, I couldn't do that. The skin and hair follicles were just not accustomed to being ripped out of their homes and would leave the whole area really red and bleeding. That effect went away after waxing for a few months. It also took me a while to get it through my thick head that you really can not leave the wax on there more than one minute, period. It becomes too hard to be flexible, which is what you need for easy removal. Anyway, the two cents of a long time user. Have a good day!!posted Apr 17, 2011Link to this post
