Directions

Bleaching Directions:
For unbleached natural hair color, skip bleaching directions below, and go to coloring directions. For extreme, intense, shocking color, proceed with bleaching directions below.

Pre-Application:
Make sure hair is clean and dry. Wear a cape or towel over shoulders and clothing during application.

1.) Begin by slowly removing the cap on the Splat-Oxide bottle, (point bottle away from face) and carefully pour contents of Splat Lightening Bleach packet into bottle.
2.) Replace cap securely and shake well for 1 minute.
3.) Slowly remove cap while pointing away from face.
4.) Cut end of applicator tip before applying to bottle.
5.) With applicator tip in place, apply bleach to desired areas of hair immediately. To achieve best results, do not let mixture stand and settle after shaking. Do not apply if skin or scalp is broken or abraded. Do not apply directly to scalp. When using, keep mixture 1/4 inch off scalp area. Cover with plastic cap. When application is complete, remove bottle cap and rinse out. DO NOT leave contents inside bottle with cap on.

Bleach Processing Time:
Processing time depends on natural hair color and the condition and porosity of the hair. The darker and/or coarse the natural hair color is, the more time is needed to process. Check hair color after the minimum processing time by removing product from a small strand with a damp paper towel. Be sure to check progress after every 10 minutes to avoid over processing or damaging of hair. Resistant hair can process up to 1 hour. Make sure bleach remains moist during processing. When hair has reached pale blonde, rinse hair thoroughly, then shampoo and dry. Your hair is now ready to apply Splat color.

If deep vibrant color is desired, make sure hair is bleached to a very light pale blonde. Re-bleaching may be necessary for deep vibrant color. Do not apply bleach to hair that has been processed with metallic dyes.

Coloring Directions:
Prep:
Dry hair thoroughly. Protect clothing with a cape or an old towel. Protect forehead area and ears with Vaseline to prevent staining of skin. Shake Splat color bottle thoroughly while pointing away from face.

Application:

Twist open tip, and squeeze color generously onto desired areas. Do not rub into scalp or it will stain. If color gets on your skin, wipe off with damp cloth immediately. Let color process for at least 30 minutes. (Use cap & dryer for best results) Rinse hair until the water runs clear. Shampoo and rinse thoroughly. Dry and style hair as desired.

Note: It is very important to make sure the water runs clear every time after you shampoo. Always use an old towel when drying hair, since the color will stain your towel. Keep product off of all bathroom and kitchen surfaces.

  • Nice Color, But Will Not Come Out. Ever. 3 Star Rating
I used the pink color on my virgin dirty blonde hair almost 3 years ago and I can still see bits of it in my hair to this day. I have tried dying over it with two other dyes and a color remover but it just won't come out! Planning on bleaching over it in a few months. I would recommend this color only if you plan on having pink hair for the rest of your life.

  • Perfect! If You Want Splotchy Results. 1 Star Rating
I evenly distributed the product after bleaching just as it said taking time to make sure it was even and properly coated throughout. After waiting 30mins as it said I rinsed to find parts of my hair were still completely bleached, had I wanted a leopard style dye job I'd be super happy, but alas now I just look like I'm missing patches of hair because of the bleach from step one. I'd say thanks but I have no thanks to give, only more money to a better company to fix this companies short comings.

  • Amazing! 5 Star Rating
I used Lusty Lavender. The first time I dyed it, it came out with different streaks of purple, but looked awesome! So I dyed it again a few days later, and it was sooo vibrant! The color lasted about 5-6 months! So I am going to try the Aqua rush, and the Blue envy next! I love Splat! :) (I bleached it before I put in the colour!)

  • Love It! 5 Star Rating
I have dirty blonde hair naturally and highlight my hair about once every 4 months. I tried the three colors, purple, pink, and a light blue that I do not see on the site, and it worked wonders! I didn't even have to bleach my hair. The colors were that vibrant! I only did it to about 2 inches thick of hair with an ombre affect and it adds such an awesome different look to my hair. I get complimented ALL the time. I have strangers that even come up to me and just touch my hair and say "Omg I love your hair!".

Definitely recommend to others. If you have dark hair though, this may not work very well unless you bleach your hair. Only down side, it does fade away VERY quickly, but all colors like this do. After about 6-7 washes, I have to redo it.

STAINS everything. when you wash your hair the color drips everywhere. stains the towels when you dry your hair. I wouldn't recommend this dye to anyone. If you plan on destroying your hair then you should use this product.NOT HAPPY,

  • Fades As Fast As It Goes In 1 Star Rating
My hair was originally dirty blonde, so naturally I used the bleach kit, and that barely worked. So I assumed it was just my hair. I carried on to use the Lucius raspberry red color, and at first it was gorgeous! But I washed my hair once after and it made orange streaks in my hair. So I redid my hair, thinking it was a coincidence, and got shampoo and conditioner for red hair. It's not slowly fading back to orange and I get more and more angry every time I think about my hair being orange. Now I'm googling better and reliable red hair dye. I'm convinced this is NOT permanent hair dye. It's semi permanent.

  • Lusty Lavender... More Like Lying Lavender! 1 Star Rating
This product was horrible for me! I dyed my bottom layer the lavender color hoping to get a pretty pastel purple when in reality it came out a REALLY hot pink! There is WAY more pink than purple in this product. I followed all the directions- I bleached my hair until it was platinum blonde, put on the dye, and after just a few washes, it was like 4 different shades of pink all over! I would NOT recommend this product at ALL.

  • First Time Dying:huge Success! 5 Star Rating
This was the first time I had ever died my hair. My nautral hair is jet jet black and this product worked great! I left the bleach in for about 45 minutes(I grew too impatient by this point) and it was a sunny orange color and when I added the dye, the Lusty Lavender, it was so vibrant! It really met my expectations! The dye lasted in my hair for a good six months without much fading. I suspect it has something to do with my hairs' thickness and how well it absorbs products that really helped the overall look I got. For those who say this product didn't work you may not of left it long enough. I personally, knowing my hair was rather thick, dark and oh so curly, I left it to the maximum time if not longer. A tip I might add is to test a strand of your hair during the bleaching AND coloring process that way you can be sure to get the color you want! I hope this helps all you first time dyers out there, and even those with experience in this department! Good Luck!
