Terry P.Nyack, NYHairMedium BrownNormal HairA Rare Product That Does What It PromisesSometime in my early 40's I had to renew my driver's license. When I saw the picture I couldn't believe how gray I was. Now there's nothing wrong with gray hair, it's just I'm not ready for it. My brown hair is my vanity weakness. I tried Grecian foam, following the directions to the letter. In just two short weeks I was amazed at the difference. I continued to use it until I reached the point where there was just a hint of gray at the temples and that's when I went into maintenance mode, using it two to three times per week. That was over 10 years ago. Today when I compare my license to the one from 10 years ago people are amazed at the difference. Even my hair stylist became an advocate, recommending it to her male clients after I showed her the evidence. I put this product in the very rare category of products that deliver everything they promise.posted Mar 22, 2011Link to this post

MarkPhilllyHairMedium BrownNormal HairThe Foam Works For Me!I began graying rather early, about 40. I'm now about to turn 50 and was getting tired of dyes that looked too drastic between haircuts. I've been using the foam for 3 weeks now and I'm really impressed with the results. Quite frankly, my wife or I have not really noticed the strong foul smell that others have complained about. My hair has darkened nicely to near my original color (med-dark brown) and I'm about to enter the maintenance period. The positive review aside -- I do have some concerns about the lead...I need to research that aspect some more.posted Mar 2, 2011Link to this post

Jim R.Decatur ALHairAuburnNormal Hair5 Months And CountingI have been using the product now for 5 months. I originally had dark auburn hair and beard. It was getting white hairs all thru on top of my head and my beard is mostly white. I started out using Grecian about every 3rd day and washing it on that day also.and it took about a month for me to notice a difference. It says to not use it on your beard and mustache but I did anyway. My beard turned from white to a reddish blond which is preferable over white to me. My beard never got any darker. My hair on top however has gotten rid of most of the white and it looks more like it did a few years ago. It has also played a role in making my hair more manageable. I don't recall the directions saying not to wash your hair for 2 weeks or for any period. They said to not use a harsh shampoo or a conditioner. I'm not sure if my shampoo is harsh or not but I haven't used any conditioner all this time. I do make sure that my hair is completely dry with a blow dryer before I apply it and I blow dry it after using it also. As far as the smell goes, I don't like it, but I have gotten used to it. I don't ever smell it after blow drying anyway.
I did not look at the ingredients in this product, and since I just found out on here that it has lead acetate in it I might check out Just for Men or something else. I do like Grecian Formula other than that though and was going to and may still continue using it after checking out this lead thing further.
One more thing. I did not use the foam. I used the liquid. I was on here trying to find out where I could buy the foam. I saw it once in a store and now I can't find it anymore.posted Feb 4, 2011Link to this post -

Jerry MyersGreat StuffI am very satisfied with it! Followint the instructions and not washing my hari, after a bit more tnan 2 weeks of using it every day, then applying 2 or 3 times a week after that, my hair is being maintained at just the colour I want it to be. In order to not get any product on my fingers, I applied it with one finger. I took a disposable garden glove and cut my fingers off. I then put the glove ends on my index finger when applying the Grecian.posted Dec 28, 2009Link to this post

BrockWorks Pretty Much As Described (good & Bad)If used as directed this probably works like a charm ---though a stinky and potentially toxic one if not handled with care as it contains Lead Acetate. Unfortunately, for people who have very oily hair like me it is impossible to follow the "for best results" directions about not shampooing your head more than once a week to reach the desired color. Nevertheless, I chose to try and stick with the product and after a couple of months of (almost) daily applications my hair darkened to a satisfactory level. (Since I'm probably less than 20% gray I can't say for sure that someone else with my hair type with considerably more gray would ever reach the desired color, but of course, you won't know if you don't try.) I am on the "maintenance dose" now which means I have to apply it 2 or 3 times a week and, while the smell is not pleasant, (despite what the package says) my wife says she can't smell unless she sticks her nose right by my hair. The other drawback alluded to above is that the chemical used to do the darkening is Lead Acetate that may be safe to use on your head (provided you have no cuts or abrasions) but that you don't want to get into your eyes or to ingest. I wash my hand at stages during and after use and I go the extra mile by wasing off the comb and the bottle itself. I also try to be cognizant of when I have put my fingers in my hair so I can avoid contact with my eyes or mouth and wash my hands again at the first opportunity. Bottom Line: There are a LOT of drawbacks, but it is pretty much the only game in town for GRADUAL hair coloring. If that is not a priority to you then "Just for Men" or getting professional hair coloring would probably be a better option for you.posted Aug 23, 2009Link to this post

EdCtToxic WasteI have used this biohazard for almost two months now. Not only does it not work, Im mystified as to what the FDAs requirements are for toxic waste and its use on humans. If the lead paint on my windowsill is hazardous how can this higher concentration of usless chemicals be legal. Oh well money talks and yours will walk if you use this.posted Mar 18, 2009Link to this post
