Jerome Russell's Punky Hair Color

AmandaHairPlatinum BlondeFine or Thin HairThis Stuff Is Total Crap! This stuff is the worst! I've been dying my hair for well over 10 years. I've had every color of the rainbow. I finally tried this brand. I used Mandarin. I bleached my hair as usual then applied the dye the next morning. Being summer time I have to wash my hair every day or the heat and humidity makes it fairly oily. I didn't wash it the next day but I did the day after that. After ONE washing the color faded so badly! It was so disappointing! I skipped a day of washing again since I didn't want it to fade anymore. Inevitably, I had to wash it. When I got out of the shower I was shocked to see how terrible it looked! I have 3 or 4 shades ranging from pale orange to almost red orange. And, it does NOT look nice at all! I would NEVER recommend this brand to anyone EVER! It's crap!posted Jul 22, 2010Link to this post

Janice L.Red Deer,AlbertaHairDark BrownNormal HairColor Treated HairBest Stuff EverI used this product back in the early 90's and loved it then. I found it again at a store by my house and still LOVE it. I bought Flamingo pink and it has lasted for over a month all I have done to it is touched up the roots. My derby girls love it too. I work in the schools and the Kids love the color.
I have an order at the store for 6 more bottles I just hope they keep carrying it. I have used manic panic and fudge but I will stick to this brand.
Keep it up Jerome Russell.

JulieHairBlondeNormal HairColor Treated Hair3 Years Green, Never Want To Go BackI use Spring Green, Alpine Green and Apple Green (alpine and apple are both quite blue) and I find that I need to reapply when my roots grow out, naturally, but my hair is still strikingly green even after 5 weeks.
Punky Color makes my hair incredibly silky and it smells wonderful.
I do bleach with half a bottle of Clairol Palest Blond (the first one I used because it was on sale, worked well so I just haven't tried anything else) even though I'm a natural strawberry blond... I find that just 10 minutes of mild bleaching makes the green bright enough to shame tropical fish.
I don't use Vaseline or baby oil because it's more gross then helpful, and anyone who says Punky Color stains their neck clearly has an aversion to washcloths and soap... just a little scrub, perhaps a little more vigorously than a regular shower, and my neck is perfectly pink.
I leave the color on for a few hours when I apply per another review's suggestion and I don't know if it makes a difference... the shortest time I've left it on is about an hour.
Punky does run with my shampoo (Aussie Moist) and conditioner (Suave) for the first 3-5 washes and occassionally I get a green streak on my towel, but it comes out in the washer and doesn't stain other clothes. The grout in my shower has a green tint, but I've been green for 3 years now, so that's to be expected.
Do be careful you don't splotch it on your table or floor, because that definately doesn't come out... though I've had some luck with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser if I catch it soon enough.
I wrap the earpieces of my glasses in cling film since I'm blind as a bat.
Biggest Pro: little kids thinking I'm a mermaid or fairy... like... REALLY.
Biggest Con: idiots thinking I went green just for Saint Patricks Day, and the even worse idiots wondering why half my hair isn't red for Christmas... idiots...
Biggest Suprise: even with my hair in 2 buns no one has ever said I look like a Warcraft gnome.

DHairMedium BrownBest Colors I've Used So FarI've dyed my hair bright colors many, many times. This was the first time I used Punky and I have to say I'm absolutely in love with how bright the colors turned out. As others have said, use some vaseline and gloves to keep your skin from being dyed and keep some tilex around for your bathroom and you'll be good to go. It definitely helps to bleach your hair ahead of time if you want the really bright colors. I used the Violet, Atlantic Blue, and Flamingo Pink. My only specific warning is be extra careful with the violet because if it gets on any surface, you're going to be working for awhile to get it out.

KitsoraEternalI started using Punky Color back in February because I wanted my hair Very red for a fashion show I was doing. It was AMAZING! I still use it today, and it's just the best! My hair looks healthy, it lasts FOREVER when washed properly, my hair is shiny, and it's cost effective! My hair has been -many- colors over the years, and of all the dyes I've used, Punky color is definitely my favorite. I started with the Poppy red, and then drifted to Flamingo Pink. They are fabulous!posted Jun 16, 2010Link to this post

TriciaGreat, Long Lasting ColorsWe have been using this product for about 2 years now and have never been disappointed. The colors do work best on bleached hair, but we have even had good results on "lightened" hair as well. The color lasts at least 8-10 washings - and usually much longer. My daughter used the flame red color on bleached hair in October 2009, and still had some light orange hue remaining last month!posted Jun 14, 2010Link to this post

MariaGreat Hair DyeThis hair dye is the best I've used for bright colors. It does not damage the hair, the colors are vibrant, and from my experience it lasts a good amount of time. (Picture was taken at 6 weeks). The only con is that it does stain quite a bit. Even now if pieces of hair are left on light color surfaces it stains and after washing my hair it still stains the shower floor a bit. It's worth it though.posted Jun 4, 2010Link to this post

December BHairAfrican AmericanColor Treated HairManic Panic Way BetterI've colored my hair with Manic Panic forever, and I figured it was time for a change, so I tried this. The color wasn't exactly right, but it was still pretty, so I didn't much complain, but it rubbed off for a while after washing. And it fades FAST. I used Violet, and I have African hair, so I can't wash it often. Manic Panic lasted in my hair for MONTHS. This lasts maybe a week before beginning to fade. I dyed it maybe three weeks ago and it's already a sea green. I'm not impressed, but the initial color is very pretty.posted May 22, 2010Link to this post

Cheree C.EdmontonPunky Colour ReviewI used the blue black and it came out nicely, although it did stain my head and nails. Sadly it came out after a few washes. My friends use it and they say good things about it. But when I use it, it doesn't stay in and the lighter colours dont show in my hair.posted May 19, 2010Link to this post

MirandaLagoon Blue, Flamingo Pink, Purplei've been coloring my hair for about 6 years. i usually use manic panic colors, but i wanted to try something different. i tried lagoon blue, purple, & flamingo pink. lagoon blue: it came out a really pretty aqua blue, which was pretty much what i expected. it does fade kinda fast at first, but then it seems like it reaches a point where it fades more slowly, which is kinda odd. but i would buy this one again; i really liked it! purple: i didn't really like this. it looked more like a fuschia pink, which i do like, but i wanted purple. it was a nice color, just not what i wanted. flamingo pink: ok, i am a PINK girl. that is my color. i normally use hot hot pink by manic panic, but like i said, i wanted to try something new. i was expecting pink, instead, i got red! it has maybe a hint of pink in it, but it's way too red for me. not buying this again.posted May 2, 2010Link to this post
