It Could Have Been A Lot Worse!
Right! I promised I'd write a review whether it was a good experience or not! After using it myself I have mixed feelings, I was blue back before, and am now brown with highlights, my natural is ash brown I chose colour fix and it did shift the black to a auburn, I did two applications, but it was a little patchy so I had no choice but to put on a brown, it still has hints of red though. It does say u can use it up to 16 times! But after only two my hair feels a little brittle, it will snap if I give it a tug, I've just now had some highlights only a few and it's an exceptable lightness, However this is a colour stripper, so don't expect your hair to be happy with it! I plan to never dye may hair again lol But it did work, but for the expense of getting it sent to england I probably should have just bleached it all over, although my highlights to have a slightly pink look when they were being done, and when my natural hair comes through I think I'm going to have different tones to my highlights..... will wait and see...

Colorfix No Good On Natural Instincts Black
I have layers upon layers of Black Natural Instincts semi-permanent dye on my naturally brown hair which it was not able to remove. It says that on the box though, that it may not work on semi-permanent, still thought I'd give it a shot. So if you've been using this same dye in black for years, it probably won't work for you. I still give it 2 stars for not killing my hair though. It's not too much worse for the wear, so I can't complain.

    Awesome Results!!
First of all my hair is waist length and I've been dyeing it black or blue-black using permanent drug store haircolor for the past few years. Last time I dyed my hair was about a month ago and I used a dark burgundy red which I used on my roots and over the rest of the dyed black hair. The results were as expected: reddish on top, dark over the rest of my hair (with some reddish tints showing in the sun). I decided to lighten up my hair now that spring/summer is near and after reviewing numerous comments about this product I decided to do it myself. I vowed to never to go the hairdresser again since 99% of the time I was very dissapointed with the results and amounts of $$ I had to pay. One box was more than enough for my length of hair!!! I also skipped step 3 since most reviews said so. The result was an even, light auburn-brownish color which despite the uneven colors in my hair turned out great all over. THE SMELL WAS NOT BAD AT ALL!!! I can't believe how sensitive some people must be to smell because it did not bother me at all, I find some hair dyes to smell stronger than Color Fix. I actually left my hair with these results and in a couple days I am planning to add a caramel-honey color and some blond highlights to it. Nevertheless the most difficult phase of my hair transformation was over in just 30min with ONE application of Color Fix!!!

    After Using Colorfix
i wrote a review about how colorfix fixed my hair, well now i have finally dyed it the color i wanted to begin with and a piece of advice is seriously get a lighter shade than you want and if you can wait at least 3 days to a week to do it, my hair came out redish but dark in some parts, not what i wanted but honestly, i'm glad i did it, i feel like all the built up chemicals i had in my hair are finally gone! my hair feels better than before. I recommend ColorFix.

    Works On Semi-permanent Natural Instincts
I died my natural medium brown hair with Natural Instincts semi-permanent (wash in 28 shampoos, apperantly)midnight black. To my shock, I found out from the company that this color may stain your natural hair color and it may never wash out. About a month after I died it the color was definately not coming out, so I researched online what products I could use. I read all about the One n Only Color Fix and decided to give it a try. I mixed equal amounts on Part 1 and Part 2 and left on my hair for 20 mins and I applied heat with my hair drier. I washed it with shampoo twice and applied conditioner. After drying it, I could see my old natural highlights. My hair is close to the medium brown I used to have one. The smell is not that bad. I did read that the hair might darken up a little bit over the next couple of days. I am not waiting to see what happens. So far, so good.

    It's Debatable.
okay, first off i'd like to say that colorfix seemed to be the miracle product to remove unwanted black hair! i was in relief when the lady at sally's suggest this product as an alternative to bleaching. i'd like to say my natural color is a light brown, but i've been dying it since i turned 18. i can say it's gone from auburn to black, to platinum blonde, to crazy colors and then darker again; dark brown and black. it's stayed black now for the last several months and needless to say i was extremely bored, especially with the summer right around the corner. so i got this self claimed "alternative!" and used it two nights ago for the first time. i must say, i was impressed. it did what i figured it would, without the process of heat or any device. it lifted the top half of my hair to a orangy-brown and the lower half to a reddish brown. i went a head and used the color i had purchased the next day and redyed it to the shade of brown i was looking to achieve. WELL! that was stupid, my hair turned back to nearly a shade of black and the color of the dye was a VERY light brown. i figured this might have had something to do with not mixing in the lotion step, but it really didn't have much clarification in the box as to what that was for. i have used perminate color, and i have used box color. i'd say for the past couple of months i used the box color. i explained this to the lady at sallys and she assured me that it would lift! so after i redyed my hair and it turned back to a dark shade, not exactly black, but close enough, i went back to sallys and bitched. the lady explained i would need to reapply it and USE a 30 developer with the color i bought to put in after i used colorfix (originally i had used a 20.) but i got the feeling they didn't really know what the hell they were talking about. i also want to note the box says this product has no odor, but it CERTAINLY does. absolutely smells like sulfur and will linger on your hair when it is wet (after reading this forum i have noticed it can last a week or two.) anyway, reapply yesterday night. lifted again, took photos of it and decided to just leave it the lifted color instead of redying it for a while. however, when i woke up today and took a shower, i noticed the smell and it was terrible. so i washed my hair twice and used a deep conditioner. i decided after the smell wasn't gone to sprits a little of that lotion crap into my hair (somehow thinking it might eliminate the odor) sadly, after i rinsed it out i noticed my hair had turned A LITTLE DARKER. in fact, darker then it was just an hour before. i was utterly distraught and confused. i guess the lotion really effected the molecules or something, so i say avoid that! i had a little bit left and decided to go over the parts that became darker again, hopefull to get it to a lighter point. i'm not going to avoid washing my hair, but i refuse to use the lotion again and hope that was the culprit in the color turning darker. i'm on the fence and suggest you read all the comments before wasting your money and being misinformed by the lack of advisement the sally's associates have.

    This Stuff Works.
Used it on my blue-black dyed hair and it stripped my locks to a golden brown shade. I ordered two boxes because my hair is really thick, but I only needing one box for thick, shoulder length hair. TIPS: Use a stiff, plastic brush to make sure the mix is in there evenly...you don't want to miss spots Apply to the ENDS FIRST. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned much. Most of your dye is at the tips of your hair, less of it is at the roots (hair is more porous on the ends, and if you've repeated applications, it has more dye). I put it on the ends first, wait 5 mins or so and then proceeded with the full head application. I wrapped my head in plastic and applied heat. I left it in for 40 mins. My hair is healthy and much lighter now.

From Orangy Red Back To Golden
I've been a bathroom Dyer for 25 years. I've been Red, Brown, blonde, bleached etc. In the last 10 years I've stayed consistantly Auburn. With all the grays, I wanted to restore myself to my natural blonde. #1 This is only a Dye remover, it's not a bleach. Don't expect to be blonde or restore your natural color. It removes dye deposits only, giving you a base color to start over again. #2 If you are taking red out, like me. It could take up to 3 applications to get you to the desired color and to get all the red dye out. Red is extremely stubborn. So keep that it mind. #3 After getting to desired color, please use the #3 step. Yes, it will make your hair darker but that's what it is supposed to do. It shows you that deposits are still in the hair and you have to repeat the process. This is not a quick 20 minute process for those whith stubborn dyes. Take your time, read the directions and follow the directions. #4 After finishing up #3. Use a clarifying shampoo to help remove anymore deposits form the hair and to get rid of the smell. I shampoo 2 to 3 times and no more smell (Which nis not that bad people! Perms are worse!) #5 If you can wait a few days to re-color, I would suggest doing that to give your hair a break form chemicals, especially if you are going blonde or lighter. If you can't wait, Use a protein reconstructor followed by a Deep conditioner. Use the deep conditioner every other day on your ends if your hair is dry. #6 I went from Orange red, back to golden blonde in 2 applications with Semi-perm in my hair. So yes, it works on Semi-perm color. Even store bought. So don't believe it. #7 If your scared to do this on your own, I suggest forking over the money and going to a salon. I've always been a DIY hair girl, so I knoew if it didn't work, I could always go back to being a dark auburn again. Don't expect a miracle, but I certainly have both times I've used this product. I've not had any damaging effects from this, like a bleach. It restored me to a good base color to re color my hair a closer shade to my natural. That's what I wanted and that's what I got. I am in Cosmetology school right now and I will be focusing on color correction as amy specialty. I've fixed a lot of bad dye jobs with Colorfix and will always have it on hand as a hairdresser!

    Love It!
I died my hair a dark brown but of course it basically turned out black. I didnt like how dark it was and after reading these reviews I decided to give it a shot. I love the color that it brought my hair to after the first time using it leaving it in for about 25 minutes! My hair is now a natural darker brown with a nice auburn tint to it. This is pretty close to my natural hair color and I am really happy with the way this product worked!

    Works Good!
I have asian hair & I played around with a lot of color in my hair. I decided to dye it black for the fall/winter which was a huge mistake when I decided to go with a lighter color when spring was approaching. I went to many hair salons asking if they would do my hair, most of them said "No, good luck" or offered to bleach it & all that jazz for $300. First of all, bleaching my hair for $300 is ridiculous & it's not even good for your hair! I decided to go on the internet & do research for alternatives. I stumbled across a youtube video on someone using this product. I went out to Sally's the next day & applied it that same day. I did it twice to lift the black hair dye out (it actually comes with enough for 2 applications) since I guess the black hair dye has been in my hair for a while. I bought hair dye just in case I didn't like the color, but after I used Color Fix, it left me with a pretty nice dark brown color so I didn't even have to re-dye it. The reason why I only gave it 4 stars is because the smell of sulfur is still in my hair & today will exactly 1 week since I've processed my hair. I shampooed everyday to get the smell out but it's still there. It's tolerable when my hair is dry because you can't smell it, but when it's wet, it's intolerable & it gives me a headache!
