one 'n only Colorfix

AnnushkaAm Very, Very Happy With The Results. Before my medium/light-brown hair had been colored with Manic Panic Blue, which is actually a temporary dye thats *supposed* to wash out after several washes or so. Well, it didnt. The blue turned my hair green quite quickly, and never faded even after several long weeks. I dyed it 3 times: black, chocolate brown, and chocolate brown again. The green never budged, quite clearly.So. I used Colorfix, and I am very, very happy with the results. It removed all the coloring. Although there are two (2) things you should note: First, the smell is repulsive. It smells like fart. A really, really awful fart. And secondly, it makes your hair actually have far more warmer tones than it normally would have had to begin with (but with a toner, it can be corrected nicely). In the end, it did its job and removed all the color. And for that I am thankful, and giving it 5 stars.

MichelleThis Works!I have used color fix a number of times over the past few years. It has always worked to get the color out, but I have always had to re-dye after. Many times the red undertones would return within a few days after the re-dye job, but it still left my hair way better than the previous dye job. I had never used the processing lotion b/c of all the other reviews that said not to. The other day I decided to put the processing lotion on a part of my hair after using the color fix. I wanted to see if that area took the dye differently. Yes!! It was a more true color tone and did not turn red like it did before when I did not use the processing lotion. Yes, it did darken my hair a bit when I first put it on (I am a med/light blonde), but it is such a more real color with highlights. The times that I have not used the lotion it seemed like my hair got a funky tone in areas. Anyway, I think the lotion keeps the hair more stable for re-dying and makes it last longer. This does work!posted Feb 22, 2009Link to this post

LeeNYDid What It Claimed To Do.Colorfix is not meant to take you back to your natural color. Its a color correcting product, which means you HAVE to redye. Those with that reviewed and said it that Colorfix brought them back to their natural color were lucky and rare--this product isnt meant to do that. Also, to the reviewer for June 8, 2008, Colorfix states it may not work on semi-permanent dyes. This may be why you had problems.I recently used colorfix to get rid of the permanent black dye in my hair that has been in my hair for a very long time and that I have redyed black many times. I had to do the procedure twice to remove enough color so that in a few days I can recolor. It did not bring me back to my natural color, but I dindt expect it to. Nowhere on the box did it state it would do this. It did turn my hair an auburn color, which oddly, everyone loves except me. I have dark brown eyebrows and auburn hair--just no. It did remove the black as I wanted. It also didnt damage my hair in any way whatsoever. Its actually extremely soft. My hair didnt tangle and I didnt lose any hair. Also, this did nt bother my scalp at all.I have not redyed my hair yet. Im waiting a few days before doing that. My hair has not changed (darker or lighter) since the intial color change. I just want to be sure before applying a new color.Im giving it 4 stars because the smell is *horrible* and it doesnt come out after multiple washing. I was running on the treadmill today and my sweat amplified the smell of the Colorfix, my basement smelled like rotten eggs. Its truly a horrible smell. Also, even when I cant smell it my cat can. Hes constantly in my hair. Makes me wonder if anyone else can smell it. Its gross.I did not use the processing lotion.posted Feb 20, 2009Link to this post

Danielle GMAClean Slate!I have been coloring my hair for years at home. I have naturally mousy, light brown hair and have been coloring it medium brown (I use Loreal Natural Match 6N-5N). I also used a cap recently to put in a few highlights around my face, which made my hair a little dry, but using a strong conditioner, it feels fine. The color seemed to fade rather quickly so i decided to go a shade darker for a change. I grabbed a box of 3N by accident, instead of a 4N and didnt notice until it was already processing on my head! Came out black! So now Im freaking out, because I made this mistake years ago and had to bleach it out, which left my hair a mess! At this point Im thinking that Ill just wait it out, hoping it fades. Then I saw reviews on this website and I couldnt wait to go to the nearest Sallys to pick up a box of Colorfix ($13.99). I was nervous at first to use it because I have somewhat fine hair that has been processed over and over and I didnt want straw-like or over processed hair. I was amazed at how well this stuff works, and how little it affects the condition of hair. This is what I did:1. Please note that the product package only contains the solution so I bought gloves, mixing bottle, protein filler(optional), and Colorfix.2. Separated hair into 6 sections so it would cover evenly. 3. Mixed the 1/2 Color reducer and 1/2 catalyst (did not use the processing lotion - just threw it away). The mixture does small a bit like perm solution, but I opened a window and it really is a small trade off considering the results. My hair had a scent for about a day, but not strong enough for anyone to notice the next day at work).4. I worked quickly putting the solution on my "mini ponytails". I did not put it on my roots yet. The middle and ends were darker as they are more dry and porous. I left it on for about 10 minutes. 5. Then I took out the hair elastics and put the solution on my roots and covered my head with plastic wrap.6. I put the hair dryer on low heat for about 10 minutes and I could see the black in my hair beginning to change to a medium orange brown, then a light orange. I wasnt too freaked out because so many reviews said this would happen and I never expected to get back to my natural color. i just wanted a clean slate in order to recolor to a medium brown.7. Once all the color lifted I rinsed and shampooed twice and conditioned for about 10 minutes. I then rinsed and put in a protein filler so that when I re-color, the porous ends wont soak up so much color. I let my hair dry. My hair was a little dry, but no more than when I color it. Definitely does not feel brittle and straw-like like bleaching.8. *****This is the part that I cannot stress enough!! If you are going to re-color...buy 2-3 shades lighter than the color you want!! I bought a level 6N (light brown - the shade I wanted to be)and my hair turned almost as dark as it was before I put in Colorfix!!! And all of the previously highlighted, drier chunks of hair took the color in seriouly 5 minutes, turning pitch black!9. So now Im freaking out again. Some of the reviews in here did mention this, but I cant stress it enough!! I let my hair calm down for two days, conditioning like crazy. 10. I repeated the Colorfix again, which brought my hair to that funny light orange. I now bought a level 8C (ash blonde). I bought the cooler shade to counteract with the orange shade I new I would get after Colorfix. It seemed ridiculous that I had a blonde color knowing that I was trying to reach a medium brown! But...it is much easier going darker if this was going to come out too light.11. I decided to have a strategy this time with the color to ensure I had even results. I separated my hair into 6 sections. I remembered to put the color on really fast because the color grabs within minutes. I started with the roots in the back of my head and worked my way up to the top. However, I did not put any color yet where my hair was the driest from highlighting (which was on the crown of my head and sides of my face). Then I put the color through the rest of my hair, starting in the back where the hair is the healthiest (takes longer to grab), working my way up again to the top. Then at the last second, I pulled the color through the pieces I hadnt touched. 12. I did this in 5 minutes. By minute 6, I had to rinse the color because it was already darkening. My hair came out great...very even. I conditioned and now my hair is a pretty medium brown. (***but please remember that a BLONDE color was used and it still came out much darker (2-3 levels) than the box.)I would recommend anyone who colors their hair or anyone who likes to experiment with color to always have a box of this product on hand...it really is a life (and hair) saver!!posted Feb 20, 2009Link to this post

BethAustin, TXSemi-permanent Dye - Worked Great!Well, I have been dying my hair with semi-permanent dyes for the last few years. I always use a color pretty close to my own (dark ash blond), just warmer and a little darker because my hair is so ashy that it often looks grey in the light. The dyes never completely wash out of my hair, but they fade just enough that I can wait 2 or 3 months before re-dying.The last dye I used was much more red for a change. It looked great at first, but it faded disappointingly fast, and most of all at the roots! My classes are about to start again, and I didnt want to look like I had dyed all but the 2-inch roots of my hair. I could tell that I had several colors in my hair, so I started looking at removal products and decided on Colorfix after all of the reviews. Due to the varied results, I used the stuff one week before classes. I was hoping for results that I wouldnt have to re-dye, and I got them! My hair looks great - warmer than my natural color because of the way the dyes before changed it, but a nice dark caramel blond. When it first dried, it was noticeably orange-y, but it calmed down by that night and had settled after about 24 hours.I ended up using half of each of the 1 & 2 bottles on my hair (a little past shoulder-length) and left out bottle 3 completely, like others. I had used a deep conditioner the day before I used Colorfix and a lighter one right after it, but the first day my ends were still pretty dry. After just a day (the same time the color settled) the ends felt normal. Ive washed my hair again, and it feels great, I am definitely impressed with how well this worked for me! Its not a huge before & after difference, but my dye wasnt that drastic to begin with.

MichelleTraverse City, MISo Awesome!!! :)Hello everyone!!! Okay, I dont want to bore you with my long story, so Ill just "fill" you in. Here we go...I am a natural blond, well medium ash blond. About three years ago I dyed my hair dark brown, I loved it! That wasnt enough. I then dyed my hair black, jet black. Still wasnt enough for me. THEN, I dyed it a purple-red color, it was awesome! Still wasnt enough though, so I put dark blue in my hair, just streaks. So, my hair before I used this product was, are you ready: dark blond, dark brown, black, reddish-purple, and dark blue. I am thirty years old, and plan to attend school to become an RN, so I need "normal" hair (whatever that is). I used the one and only color fix, and I was afraid it would break or melt my hair. But I did it!!! I do have to say that it smells very bad, but not as bad as some people have described it. I left it one for twenty minutes, and I washed it out. I was so shocked. My hair was almost back! I decided to skip the third step, did not want my hair to get darker. SO, my hair is a dark blonde with highlights! My tips are a little dark, but I am happy with it. I get to keep some of my dark color. So, if you are reading this, you are most likely getting ready to do this. Dont be afraid, if you read and follow the directions it should work. Be prepared for a bad smell, but that is because of the sulfer. Have fun and good luck!!!

SlkLancashire, UK.It Actually Works. So Im one of those very skeptical people. For five years Ive been home-dying my hair, usually really dark red and brown colours. I began getting very bored of it recently, and was sick of my naturally dark ash blonde roots showing every four weeks. I went to the hairdressers to see about having highlights and gradually going lighter, but because there was so much colour build-up she advised against it, as Id likely get very brassy results.A bit disheartened, I came home and was determined to find a way to lighten my hair without murdering it with bleach. After doing some research, I came across Color Oops, and Colorfix. Reading the reviews here pushed me towards Colorfix, and so I ordered two boxes just to be safe. After paying £30 for shipping *cough*, it arrived, but because I was doubtful it sat in the box for weeks. I went out and bought everything Id need, including a tinting brush, mixing dish and lots of pairs of gloves, plus some dye in Medium Ash Blonde and some neutral shampoo. Finally got around to it today. Still early days yet, but so far Im chuffed with the result. First time around I didnt mix enough to saturate my hair (I did the full correction method), so after 20 minutes I rinsed it off, and was amazed when even that started producing results. I doubled the mixture second time round, and left it on for 45 minutes.I couldnt believe I had light hair again after I rinsed it off the second time. I shampood thoroghly twice and towel-dried my hair. It was very, very brassy, not too orange, so I then applied a protein filler for 20 mins, and followed with the ash dye.Initially I thought the dye had darkened my hair right back, even though Id only left it on for 6 minutes, but when I dried it on a low heat setting, I was amazed to see a medium auburn colour. Not as light as Id hoped, but its a gorgeous colour, really lovely, and unless it starts darkening (which Im expecting, if Im honest) I wont be touching it again. It also feels in great condition, I used an intensive conditioner after dying it and it feels really silky.Im really impressed, I thought I was stuck with almost-black hair forever. Its taken nearly all the red out, meaning if I desire I can now get highlights without them turning vivid orange. Shipping cost to the UK is ridiculous but I bought 2 boxes, Ive got a box and a half left so its great value for money. If my hair darkens in the next week Ill probably do the same thing next week, and try a lighter dye. I skipped the processing lotion because of all the negative things I heard about it, even if my hair does darken all it would have done is darkened it prematurely.I cant believe how much I love the colour, it suits my skin tone so much better than the dark, dark red. I barely noticed the smell, if Im honest, whilst not pleasant it wasnt overbearing. I just wish they stocked it over here. Id gladly recommend this to anyone with a build-up of permanent dye, as it shifts almost all of it off. Its not harmful, and so is the best place to start if youre looking to go lighter without bleaching 2/3 times.posted Jan 5, 2009Link to this post

RHoly Cowi was very scared to use this product and i waited 3 weeks after buying it to use it. i had been bleach blonde for 6 years and decided that i wanted to be a light blonde. according to 7 different hairdressers red and blonde are the same thing. needless to say my hair was red so i dyed a blackish red color. i looked like a dead person. i have naturally auburn hair so i was afraid that when i used this that it would be bright orange. I used it exactly how it said (didnt use step 3) and it is perfect. it did turn out orange but after 2 days it darkened to a really nice brownish red color. i have had alot of compliments so far. everyones hair is different so there is going to be different reactions. it worked awesome for me.posted Dec 28, 2008Link to this post

Tammy McmahanHuntsville, AlabamaA Miracle In A Bottle!!!I am naturally a level 3-but for the past 3years have been a level 9! So I thought I would go a few shades darker to a level 5! What a disaster-my hair was so porous, etc. that it turned black! So I needlessly suffered it for two months very down and out and luckily came across this product. It is a true miracle! I first did a strand test and it was beautiful-blonde again. So on Friday night I did steps 1&2(ditched step #3) and had beautiful light golden blonde again. Next day a little darker but still great, no re-color was necessary. Sunday day 3 a little darker so I did the process again! Awesome results! Now I have a clean slate to have whatever shade of blonde I want again! Thank you girls for your post here-you helped save my hair problem. I put Ion protein reconstructor on after my shampoo out and my hair has never been so soft and light like when I was a child!! The smell was not an issue, smelled like a mild perm, but was gone the next day!!!You will be so thrilled you used this!!!!posted Nov 24, 2008Link to this post
