JanetThe Dry SouthwestHairDry HairThick or Coarse HairLeft My Hair Soft, Light, And BouncyJust recently I began hearing about clarifying shampoos. I never thought I needed one but read that using Chi oil or products with cyclomethicone or dimethicone coat the hair and require a clarifying shampoo to remove these cones and buildup. I was SO pleased with the Kenra Sulfate Free Platinum shampoo that I decided to try this.
It smells like grapefruit and some other lovely, unidentifiable fragrance. It lathers a bit but not a ridiculous amount which I prefer. I have very long and thick hair and only needed about a capful. It really did its job. When I came out from under the dryer my hair was so light and bouncy. I could tell that there were no residues left and the color of my hair was more brilliant and shiny. Kenra is truly a fine product.

Kat J.Middle Of A Cornfield, INThere's A Reason Why Kenra Is So PopularI have seriously processed hair; it's naturally dark, I took it platinum, then had some fun with rock star colors, then went back platinum, and now rock a dimensional blonde. In short, my hair is often very, very angry with me. On top of that, while it's pretty thick, it's also very fine. As a result, I'm prone to somewhat greasy hair. I only wash a couple times a week, in order to keep the ends happy, but that means it takes some power to get the grime and styling products out of my less damaged roots.
My best friend works at a Kenra salon, and knowing all this, introduced me to the Clarifying Shampoo. There's a reason she's the only person allowed to touch my hair.
I use the Clarifying Shampoo in concert with the Redken Blonde Glam line. I wash with the Kenra to strip out all the crap, then with the Redken shampoo, and condition with Redken for about 5 minutes. I have the occasional angry hair day, but for the most part, it's soft, manageable, has plenty of volume, and doesn't get dirty very quickly.
Kenra Clarifying Shampoo is not sulfate free, so it lathers well, but contains a different kind of sulfate than most other clarifying shampoos. It also uses grapefruit extracts as one of the active ingredients, which help get hair really clean, while not completely stripping it of everything it needs. It's by far the best, most gentle while still being effective clarifying shampoo I've ever used.
Plus, on top of everything else, the packaging design is fantastic. This is definitely a bottle you can leave out in your shower or on your counter and not worry about how it looks. This goes for the entire Kenra line. Everything has clean, simple lines, a cool, slick silver color, and allows easy access to the product.posted Aug 17, 2010Link to this post
