  • Dry With No Products
I dont know how the latest version of the system works, but I found with my old one (that I still use and adore after 14 years) works best when my hair is clean and dry. I tried it several times with hairspray first, then curling it, and it never worked as well as when it was just plain old dry hair. Save the product application for AFTER, and the results should be as advertised.

  • Clean Dry Hair!!!
I have been using my setter for about 15 years. I have moved from denver-very dry climate to houston- very humid climate. The curls in either place work best if you use a shot of hairspray after you get the right curl. Changing the curl after spraying gets a yuckky result, and gunks up your rollers too! The curl is bound to last alot longer in a dry climate, but still works alot better than a curling iron for staying power!

  • On And Off Switch
I have an OLD steamer that I got sometime back in the 1980s. I didnt like having to unplug it and deal with the sparking from the wall socket. I had a friend install an on/off switch so that I could plug it in and THEN turn it on. I dont know if the new units have those now, but it sure made a difference in my use of the steamer. I can leave it to warm up and if I want to slow it down because I get called away to the phone, I can just hit the switch and return later to turn it back on and finish my hair. I always unplug it when I am done curling my hair because even with the on/off switch, its not a good idea to leave it plugged into the wall. Any surge in electriciy can bypass the switch and go into the unit.

  • Wrap Those Ends
Ive been a Caruso user since Day One have very fine hair and use end papers (made from toilet paper--sheets torn in half from ragged edge to ragged edge) to hold fine hair onto the rollers. This is a great product--BUT--youve heard it before--why cant they just make them the old "salty" way (and without the built-in planned obsolescence). Weve all read endless variations on this "cry" and I truly think Caruso--which is distributed (owned???) by Helen of Troy--really just doesnt care. Oh, by the way, Helen of Troy, GET GREEN AND ALLOW US TO PURCHASE ONLY THE FOAM ROLLERS. GIVE THE LANDFILLS A BREAK!
