      no, it would ruin the plates and the iron.. you can spray iron smoother on your hair when is air dried or blow dried, but never use it with your hair wet.

    can i use a gel product with this flat iron or will it ruin the plates?? because other reviews complained about the plates chipping but when i used my friends i had alot of gel in my hair and it worked better but i only used it one time so i was wondering if it would still work if i did that frequently

    For the record...the hai website says this has a 3 year warranty, so use it & dont complain like so many people did in the reviews. Thats a long warranty. And paying for S&H for a brand new straightener is a lot better than purchasing another one for +/-$100.

  • Check Your Plate Contact
    The key to a great flat iron is the plate contact. When you press the plates together there should be solid contact over the entire plates. If there is a gap anywhere, even the slightest one, the iron will burn and strip your hair. So, no matter the brand, check your plate contact. It makes a huge difference. Floating plates help tremendously also.
