ChristineUsing The Marcel IronHow do you use a marcel iron? Many of the reviews talk about being careful about how you maneuver the iron. Id really like to get one but first can someone help me decide if this is the right iron for me or not? thanks!Reply to this postJan 19, 2010Link to this post

LynnOttawaHow To Use A Marcel HandleHow do you use a marcel handle? First advice is don't practice with it on for goodness sakes thats a good way to get burned.
First find the button that locks the marcel handle from rotating so that when you close it it doesn't slide all around. I have no idea how you work with it unlocked. Then open the clasp and put your hair in it and close it and you will figure out how it works. After you have practiced with the heat off for awhile, try it with the heat on low. When you are comfortable with it turn it up.
Now you can control the degree of pressure on your hair and you can apply as much tension as you want allowing you to grab shorter pieces at the root and pull to straighten, lift and manipulate your hair the way no spring curling iron will let you.
It will just take practice but once you get the hang of it its well worth it. I just bought a bablyiss that I will never use because I can't control it the way I could my marcel handle. You can determine the size of curl and direct your curl so much better as you slide your hair through the marcel handle. I hate the spring handle.
Good luck - if you can drive a car, you can learn to use a marcel handle!Sep 20, 2011Link to this post
