VUnited StatesTurning Black Hair Brown Without BleachingI bought two bottles of Bigen in honey blonde. My hair is naturally black and i want it brownReply to this post
I figured if I bought a blonde and put it on my hair it will turn my hair brown, because I refuse to bleach my hair and damage it. & Since blonde is a really light color my hair obviously wont turn blonde at all but it will at least turn brown
Do you think this will work? If not what do you recommend i do to turn my hair borwn WITHOUT bleaching or using crazy stuff in my hair.

DaynaConfusing ArticleI lost the directions contained in the box, and I can't believe theres no information availabe online on how to apply this coloring... Sure, there a hundreds of sites that say:Pour content of bottle into a bowl, mix with water... But how much water!!!! This article is at the least confusing, first it says to mix the powder of 1 Bigen powder with 5 water measures of the bigen cup (2 oz), then it says mix 1 Bigen powder with 2 water Bigen cups (1 oz.), then 1 Bigen powder with 1 Bigen cup (1 oz.)... LavonThank God!!!I tried this dye in my hair and I had a reaction to approximately 12hrs, later of applying the product. Everytime I would touch my hair or scalp it would extremely itch, to the point that I had to seek some medical attention. My scalp was covered with fluid filled bumps, my hair gradually fell out, not to the point of baldness, but it thinned out in areas. I was prescribed to used hydrocortisone in a foam, it is for the inflammation to stop the reaction of the dye. That helped with the local irritation, I also used antihistamine medication for the systemic reaction I had for the rest of the inflammation, like the swelling of the ears, brows , part of the neck. I will not recommend this product to anyone, like I said I used it and I didn't react to it several hours later, so a strand test in my case was not indicative. I thank the lord I didn't lose my hair, or a more severe reaction. I not for sure if this product is for african americans hair type because I'm not satisfied with this particular product.Reply to this postAug 28, 2010Link to this post

SoknharyPAPendingTo be honest me my mother and so forth has been using this product for many years now, at first it was in a bottle of powder, having to mix with water. It has never given us any reaction. As a student who is taking cosmetology this may not be the best choice for all people, but its much more safer for your hair than buying some knock offs at a retail store. Reason why your hair may look vibrant for a moment its' because of the chemical in "Boxed Color" that hold metal, that makes your hair shine, but it severely damages your hair and scalp, because it opens your cuticle by so much that it would b so much harder to close it. Also don't blame on the product, if your going to try something new, you should always do a patched test. Meaning use a bit of the product n rub it either against behind your ears or right on the inner crease of ur arm fold for 24-48 hrs. Some people can use this and some can't DON"T FORGET NOT EVERYONE is the same. Either because of ethnicity, porosity of hair, length, age, depending on Medications that could affect the color for not showing well, and as well as smoking, the smoke can chemically change the color while its processing. My aunt owns an Asian market for some people who thinks the powder mixed into the water is bad or not working for you, Bigen also have a cream based product only made to darken hair or grey coverage only, which is called Bigen speedy. Again though if you are interested getting one of the powder or cream base color, ALWAYS ALWAYS do a patched test first, if never use product or do patch test everytime because as you age everything of in and out of your body changes and you probably can or can't use certain things anymore. Also even though your wasting like 4 5 dollars on these product just to test them out, it's better then not to test them before use and end up in a hospital n pay hundreds of dollars, when you could easily avoid the expenses. Well I hope this helps anybody who are concerned and have unanswered questions.Dec 28, 2011Link to this post

AlexCan't Bleach, Peroxide Or Remove Color!I used to use these dyes, and once I got the Bigen in there was no getting it out again. I tried to darken from a very dark brown to something lighter, and bleach didn't work. Color lifter barely worked, and left an ugly, brass red but barely lightened the color. Bigen eventually does fade, but bleaching/frosting after using it is a BAD idea.Nov 1, 2010Link to this post
