Sharon O.Foam Only?Have been using Richard Caruso Steam Method since it first came on the market. Have purchased 4 complete units because after a while the foam on the rollers rots away, I do not really need another steam unit, and I have a lot of the rollers, all I really need is the foam part of the roller. JenniferOviedoPink Foam Vs Red FoamI would also be curious to see what others think. I just recently purchased a new Caruso set as all of my rollers were completely rotted. I had thought to myself when using the new system with the red foam that the curl that I thought I once had with the Caruso system is just not as good now (not as much curl and it doesn't last me but a few hours if that). I'm not sure if it's the new rollers or the fact that the new system is a little different than the old one (ie, you don't need to add salt to it). Any thoughts out there?May 8, 2011Link to this post

KatrinaConshohockenFoam OnlyI spoke to Helen of Troy, the maker of the Caruso Steam Hair Setter. They do not sell the foam alone. They told me you have to buy the complete roller. Debby H.I Too, Need Only The FoamI have been using the Caruso steam rollers for 15 years and have the same problem,over the years I have purchased 5 units ( 4 of them still work) and additional rollers. I have a large bag full of rollers with no usable form left on them. It is such a waste to continue to purchase more when what I have is good and just needs new foam. SylvieHow To UseInstructions are included/as well as diagrams-Ive had this setter for years-takes about 2-3 minutes to start steaming and the roller only needs to sit on the setter getting infused with steam for about 5 seconds or so. I have fine hair so I dont steam the roller cap. By the time I have the last roller on my head, the first one is ready to come out--but I wait 5 min-after removing rollers I find that if I wait 5 min(I put on makeup etc. to use up the time) before I comb my hair//the curl is set better and will last all day-this is the only way to get any curl in my hair and keep it healthy and shiny at the same time-I always have a spare unit and rollers in case they stop making them. The steam unit can last 3 yrs. or so for me-great value considering I have to use it every day and havent spent a penny at the hairdressers for ages!! You wont find anything better in my opinion-by the second time you use it-youll be a pro!! ENJOY YOUR GREAT LOOKING HAIR LIKE I DO!!Feb 25, 2010Link to this post

Judy N.NCUse Rollers Without MachineTo use rollers without unit. Place a splatter screen above a boiling pot. stand rollers on
top( careful don't burn your fingers) Lay roller caps down and go at it. Again it is very easy to get burned. A gentle boil is best.Sep 23, 2010Link to this post
