Sean EvansLead In Grecian 5 5-minute Haircolorexcuse my last reply. this grecian-5 DOES NOT contain lead acetate. although, the p-Phenylenediamine is probably just as dangerous. take a look at the site below. my suggestion is if you see an ingredient you cant pronounce, leave it alone:) take care.http://www.pnas.org/cgi/content/abstract/72/6/2423Feb 25, 2010Link to this post

Sean EvansLead In Grecian 5 5-minute HaircolorYes, it does. I imagine you could review the ingredients label online or at the store. A very short biochemistry of lead acetates function in the product... lead acetate reacts with sulfur elements found in the hair to produce the desired color. It actually isnt a very novel idea. The name Grecian 5 probably came from the fact that this same idea was utilized in the Greco-Roman period when men and women used lead combs dipped in vinegar (acetic acid) to color their hair. Using lead in hair dyes have not been totally regulated by the FDA because the govt branch has not been given enough information to alert consumers to its harm. However, I think the FDA has mandated that each dye containing the neurotoxic heavy metal (LEAD) state that users should not use it on their eyebrows, mustache, or any other hairs besides the ones coming out of the scalp. (I would heed to this or better yet NOT use it at all).Feb 25, 2010Link to this post

Shirley McwilliamsCan This Color Be Used By Women?I just would like to know if this haircoloring for gray hair can be used by women or is this color exclusively for men? Im allergic to the haircoloring products that are on the market for women. Does this haircoloring for men contain some of the same ingredients that are in haircoloring for women? Please email me at the email address below. Thanks.Reply to this postJan 19, 2010Link to this post

Less Than 5 MinutesIve used this twice with great results. Here are my tips: 1)use tight fitting surgical gloves, not the flimsy ones included, to protect your nails or theyll stain! 2) Squeeze the dye out vigorously and quickly and aggressively massage it throughout your hair so you can follow the next tip. 3)ON FIRST APPLICATION IT TAKES ABOUT ONE MINUTE TO MIX IT ALL INTO YOUR HAIR--LEAVE IT ON FOR ONLY 30 SECS TO ONE MINUTE MORE--NOT 5 MINUTES!--OR IT MAY BE TOO DARK!! I have done this and had a nice darker shade still highlighted with bits of gray, very natural look. 4)On subsequent apps, start by putting it in your part and around the hairline edges, the places that tend to be grayest, so youre sure you color those areas. 5) Use a shampoo for colored hair or youll wash it out in 3 weeks. 6)Freely admit to your friends what you have done, there is no shame and its obvious anyway! Have fun!Reply to this postJan 11, 2010Link to this post
