Re: How Long Does It Last.
I've found it depends on the color. The apple green I used faded with in two or three weeks, but the blue just kept on going, I only rebleached and dyed b/c I had extreme root grow out (after just under two months) and the color was less vibrant but still very colorful

      4-6 Weeks
I always bleach my hair first and it can last anywhere from 4-6 weeks or even longer if you only wash it when necessary, and when you do, use colder water/ colour safe shampoo and such.
Also, and this depends on the type of colour you use but they usually just fade to a lighter colour and you can't even really tell it's faded. For example, I used the flamingo pink and it was close to two months before I absolutely needed to dye. It just faded really well. But for the violet and blue-r ones, they fade to a white-ish type that isn't always super pretty. But if you take good care of the dye it can last a really long time.

      Get The Dye Off
I find that astringent facial scrubs and anti-acne face lotion also work, for some odd reason. Next time have her put on plastic gloves, an old towel around her shoulders and neck, and some vaseline on her ears and hairline. That should avoid any further Smurfette accidents ;)

      Wash With Oil.
Rub in an oily moisturizer or baby oil then scrub with a little soap. The dye is a bit oil soluble, but it may take a couple of repetitions.

    Which Red Should I Choose?
I have auburn hair, and really want some fire engine red streaks. I would like the streaks to fade into an orange rather than pink, but I don't want the original color to look too orange, either. I can't find any reviews to help me decide between red wine, vermillion red, fire, or flame.

Any suggestions? How do these colors compare and how do they fade?

    Thanks.

Dyed Black Hair - No I Need To Bleach?
I dyed my hair from its natural blond to black and brown and now the roots are coming out. I want to let it grow out and use this temporary dye while it does, but will it work if I have dyed black hair? I can’t afford to bleach my hair at a salon, but does this come with bleach like regular box dyes usually do? I don’t want to bleach my hair if possible though. Also if I do bleach my hair or even if I don’t will it have different shades where the different colors are? Thank you.

      Must Bleach!
You definitely have to bleach the black hair before using a punky color. If you don't, the blonde hair will be colored and the black will remain black, as black hair doesn't take these kinds of colors.

      Yes - With Caveats
You will get different results on the part of the hair that's been dyed black and they'll be unpredictable because the dyes may interact which means there's a chance of something funky happening. Depending on what kind of color you used to get the black, bleach alone might not be the right way to go about it. You may need color stripper and/or toner. I strongly suggest you find someone who REALLY knows about dyes and removing them to help you with this.

I did it wrong. Once. I fried my hair in the process because I tried - three times - with 40 volume bleach (that's the really strong stuff). I'm not kidding, it turned out medium blond with bright orange spots. Repeated bleaching got the blond part lighter but did NOTHING for the spots. I finally had to go to a really good colorist and have it professionally corrected which meant bleached one more time with either toner or color stripper and then colored a particular shade of blond since by this point it was like super platinum blond (almost white)...and cut about 5 inches shorter. It turned out that if I'd used whichever of those two things (color stripper or toner) she used on my hair along with bleaching it, my hair would have been fine and never needed all that repeated bleaching.
