NataliaHelp Please A**hole Sylist!!I was wondering why the stylist put some weird stuff in my "african american" hair and combed it through to loosen up my curl pattern before he put in this treatment? Then when he put in the treatment he didnt even flat iron it! He told me this wouldnt affect the hair and that it doesnt need to be flat ironed. The roots were puffy so i went home and flat ironed it myself. I'm still in the faze of not washing my hair. Can anyone help or give me an opinion as to why this procedure was so different from the Global Keratin?Reply to this postSep 3, 2010Link to this post

StephanieConnecticutKeratin & At-home ColorAbout coloring and this Keratin product: how long do you have to wait after coloring to use Keratin? Or how long after using Kerating can you color? (At-home) Thanks!Reply to this postAug 27, 2010Link to this post

Maria A.Schenectady, NYColor First, Keratin FollowsHair is composed of strong structural protein called keratin. This is the same kind of protein that makes up the nails and the outer layer of skin. Each strand of hair consists of three layers.
1. An innermost layer or medulla which is only present in large thick hairs.
2. The middle layer known as the cortex. The cortex provides strength and both the color and the texture of hair.
3. The outermost layer is known as the cuticle. The cuticle is thin and colorless and serves as a protector of the cortex.
My Stylist recommends the Keratin to be applied following a color treatment, when the hair cuticle is open. The Keratin is absorbed into the hair and seals the cuticle, which allows it to be smooth. Applying color after a Keratin treatment can strip the Keratin from the hair, defeats the purpose.Sep 9, 2010Link to this post -
Kimberly E.East Orange, NJHair Coloring W/keratinStephanie, I waited at least 2 weeks after having the Keratin treatment to color my hair and things worked out well for me. So you might want to try this. I have also had a few friends who had thier hair colored two weeks before the treatment so give or take a few weeks before or after the treatment. Hope this helps. Good luck. Kim E.Sep 4, 2010Link to this post

Pamela D.TnCan This Product Be Used As A Defrizzer?I heard that you can leave this product on for a very short time (30 min.) instead of 3 days and it acts like a defrizzer rather than a straightening product. Has anyone tried this product that way?Reply to this post
I also heard if you want to use it as a mild straightner you should wash your hair the morning after having the treatment done instead of 3 days??
Does this product contain formaldahyde?Jul 31, 2010Link to this post-
Diane H.AZCoppala TreatmentYes, Coppala has formaldahyde in it. This is where the fumes come from as you iron the hair. This treatment product is not what you should use is you just want light defrizzing . You can use the shampoo, conditioner and the heavy conditioner and there is also a leave in cond. with this line. The home care products will be able to help with light frizzing. Many lines now days have leave-in smoothing products that are effective with light frizz. There are really good conditioners and oils for managing light frizz.
The coppola method is meant for curly hair, that has too much curl and volume, bushy and unmanagable. Also hair that doesn't respond enough to good conditioners and styling products. It is a commitment due to the expense and time needed to do a good job. If you are thinking of washing your hair before the 72 hours, tells me you may not be needing this type of treatment. This treatment slowly reverts back to soft curl on its own, but you should start out as straight as you can get it. Even then it won't be stick straight, you will still have body, and it will last the best.Sep 3, 2010Link to this post
