I am a mostly black woman with naturally curly hair (like scray Spice).I tried a "Just for Me" perm for african american hair and it broke my hair off and I had to grow it out and start from scratch. I wanted more of a wavy, and less curly type of hair and the ONE N ONLY Curl Remover product worked pretty good. It took out about 25% of the curl, I may try it again later to try and get more of the curl out but for now my hair is more manageable and that is what I was looking for. According to one of the other posters I may need to try the formula for more resistant hair if I do I'll post again.
Its awesome

My g/f introduced me to ONO (wassup Camille) and I must say I totally love the product. I am Black and Asian and have this thick curly hair which I have worn natural for years now. I like my hair but during the more humid in Miami you need a lil somthing to help with frizz and poof. THIS STUFF WORKS!!! I used it the first time in Nov 06 and just applied for a second time (6 mos later). YEAH no burns, no breakage, no poof and most importantly I can still go back ad forth (curly to straight & visa versa)with alot more ease !!!
great!

okay so ive never EVER dyed my hair or anything. just straighten it every day! i have wavy hair. So i ordered this product after seeing all the great reviews!!!I have gotten my hair straightened chemically before but i dunno it wasnt as straight as i wanted it. seeing some reviews saying that it damaged their hair and stuff freaked me out! especially since the smell of the product is strong! so i decided to put it off for a week! lol! i wanted to try it sooo bad but i was sooo afraid id try it and itd ruin all my hair! BUT i finally got enough courage to try it! i did it all by myself! i combed it in the whole time and when i rinsed it was sooo dry! BUT i used the Neutragena triple moisture or somethin like that and OMG my hair felt soooo GREAT! it has NEVER been this soft before!!!! so after doing all the steps i didnt end up using the whole bottle..my hair goes just a little past my shoulders. im not sure if i should have? i thought it would damage it but since it didnt i think maybe i should have used more? so i blow dried my hair and there is still wave in it but when i started to straighten it it felt sooo thin! i think i just need to do it one more time since i got the hang of it now. but i really LOVE this product! if u have any doubts or are afraid to try it DONT BE! its great!!!!!!!!
Finally!

I've been beating my hair up with a straightening iron for years. I've been pouring my money into expensive products that didn't work. I guess I wasn't aware of the extremities my hair was going through. Frizz was a huge problem. I could not sweat or walk in the rain without my very-carefully finished hair going *POOF!* My hair was also very coarse no matter how much gloss or spray I saturated my hair with (which made it oily and icky). For $5.99 I got what I bargained for. It's hard to believe that it was only $5.99 because I had called salons for their price in permanent straightening and it was as much as $600! My problem was my perm I had 8 years ago (I'm not naturally curly) but the woman at Sally's Beauty Supply said this formula would revert my hair the way it was before the perm. So far, so good! Hopefully, I don't have to apply it in the later months, but if so, it'll be well-worth it. ^_~

I use this product hoping that it'd loosen my kinky waves around my roots to shorten straightening time and just make my hair easier to handle. I left Step 1 on for 10 minutes. My curls were loosened but not much. Kinda disappointing, but my frizz/pouffyness is all gone! I love this product for that. I thought I'd always have a frizzy afro but now my hair lays down like normal hair. I've never in my life been able to wear my hair down due to the frizz and now I can just gel it and go!
My hair is damaged due to daily flat ironing but this didn't really add any more breakage to my hair. My hair was dry afterwards so I wore it natural, added some aloe vera gel, and didn't wash for 3 days. That seemed to help it recover.
I'm a 3c/4a/Course/ii.
Wow!! My hair looks amazing!

First of all, I read every single review of this product before I purchased it. I have very fine, curly hair. The curls were unruly and looked horrible clean. I had no idea what to do with it. I was tired of blow drying and everyone in Miami had gotten the Brazilian straightening treatment. Well, that was just WAY too much money for me.. so I found this. I was skeptical, but purchased it. I did the treatment at home, by myself. I used semi-sterile latex examination gloves and did not wear any protective clothing on my neck or shoulders. I applied the first step and allowed it to stay on for approximately 7-10 minutes after I finished applying it. I then washed it all out in the shower, but my hair felt REALLY dry. I freaked. So I applied some NeXXus Humectress conditioner, washed that out quickly, and then applied the neutralizer. I left that on for about 7 minutes, then washed it out, used the Humectress AGAIN and then towel dried my hair. It took me about 15 minutes to blow dry my hair and it was STICK straight. Without using the flattening iron. I get MORE compliments on my hair now than ever. Even my hairdresser complimented me on my new straight locks. I tell EVERYONE about this product. Living in Florida with the humidity, my hair doesn't curl at all anymore. Today I went out on my boat, my hair got sprayed with sea-water... and guess what? Still straight. I will definitely be using this again!
Permed hair!

I got my hair permed about 5 months ago hoping for the nice curled hair look; didn't happen. So for the past 5 months I have has to use a flat iron for about 40 minutes each morning. I used to have stick straight hair and having to deal with dry, curly hair became a nightmare. I used the normal formula and IT WORKED GREAT! My hair is no longer curly AT ALL and it is back to being shiny and super straight. I loved the way this product worked.
just ok

i have very frizzy wavy/curly hair that i am so tired of using product after product to make it look good. i thought this product was just what i needed. it took out some of trhe curl in my hair, i now have mostly loose curls and some wave, but it did not remove any of the frizz. i'm thinking about trying the ONO frizz remover since my waves are just the way i like them now, but i'd like less frizz. the process didn't take that long, but i needed a friend to do it for me. it stunk up my bathroom for a day or two, but it wasn't that horrible. overall, this product wasn't everything it promised, but a step in the right direction for my hair.
no damage

frizzy pouf perm

About a month ago I decided on a whim to head to a nearby frou-frou expensive salon for what they called a "body wave". I left that salon with a whole in my pocket and a head full of tight frizzy pouf permed curls. I was hoping initially to give my flat straight hair in the back a nice little wavy lift while the natural frizzy patches on either side of my head de-frizzed and defined. That didn't turn out so well.
Either way, after one month of "just live with it" hair, I headed on over to Sally's and picked up a package of ONO for tinted hair. My sister ran the cream through my hair from root to tip and left it on for only about 10 minutes. I was wimpy and didn't want my hair to fall out. I'm glad I did however, because after the neutralization step I was able to let my hair air dry for the first time in my life ever and NOT have a bushy frizzy mess! What I had was super loose curls and waves throughout with tons of shine and softness!! I'm so glad I found this product. And for the price, you can't go wrong.
Now you must keep it real and realize that what the box indicates as how hair results will be, is very well indicative of your results. Please don't think that you can go from super kinky curl to pin needle straight in only one application. It's simply not going to happen. What this product provides however, is a solution to the frizzy hair mess and over tight processed hair. I'm sure if I wanted pin straight hair, I could go for a second box, but would most likely wait a couple weeks to do so.
Another tip is after the neutralization step, I added a dollop of Sunsilk's TLC hair creme. It's also a wonderful product that makes the hair very soft and silky to the touch and gives the hair a nice satin sheen. It also does a great job of hydrating the hair, in fact, I'd say I've had much better results with that than oil treatments. Good luck with the ONO curl releaser! I think that you too can get great results with it. ESPECIALLY if you had a freak perm like myself.

The price is great. Product doesnt stink. Bottles are smaller than they might appear in the picture to you. Best to get 2 orders in case you have more lengthy hair. Didnt get rid of my minor root problem which is why I bought it. May be best to loosen a wave.

About three weeks ago, I got a perm at a salon. What a mistake (and waste of $120)! It was poufy on top with tight curls, and styling it was impossible. To make matters worse, she had permed my short-ish bangs also, promising me that it would just make them "softer." Well, they were tight as ramen noodle and frizzy!
I read the reviews on this site and decided to give this product a try. Because my hair is quite thick and full, I used the RESISTANT formula.
It worked beautifully! It was a bit tricky to apply the product in the back of my head, so my boyfriend helped me with that - but other than that part, I could do it myself. I was worried about damaging my hair, so I left it on for about 9 minutes but my hair still got really straight! My hair looks pretty healthy - no split ends or breakages.
I feel so much better with the ugly perm gone - and it only took like 40 minutes total (from prep to finish).
Totally worth it!

I color and highlight my hair so I needed something gentle that would not strip my color. This product works great. I get good relaxing without stripping my color.
It worked... the second time around

I tried the "normal" formula on my thick, wavy hair (following the directions and leaving it on for the maximum time) but saw no difference. I couldn't even keep my hair from curling while the product was "processing"!
I waited two weeks and repeated the process with the "resistant" formula (I know, risking horrible damage), but this time it worked.
I do not have the out-of-the-shower straight, soft hair I had hoped for, but I am happy that it now takes me 15 minutes with a straight iron instead of the 45 it used to take me, and it stays straight and soft for a few days.
The stinky salon scent does linger for a few days, and you'll need to use deep-conditioning treatment (I used to use cheaper stuff, but now I use biolage).
For the price, it's worth trying, but if you have any doubt, go for the stronger formula.

I bought this for my daughters very thick, curly hair. It seems a bit softer. Other than that, it pretty much looks the same. I only bought one box. She definetely could have used two. I took her to my hair stylist to have her apply it. ( I was afraid of goofing up ) She said it was easy to work with. I think we'll buy two boxes next time and give it another try.

This totally removed my curl! My hair has no curl in it at all, which is why I actually gave it only 4 stars. I wanted to keep a little wave. And my ends are a little crispy after using this. But it does work.

I am white, and have this in-between hair. My Dad has very curly hair, my Mom very wavy. So I decided after months of a mess, I would go curly with a loose perm. Sure - that was a mistake and I had a bigger mess on my hands (this was 3 months ago). I read reviews for this, and certainly the price was right. My husband helped apply the product so it would not be directly on my roots. I have only a wave left, but there are some sneaky tight waves underneath (the shortest lengths) which I can just iron out if they really bother me.
But all in all, I might well try this again in 3 to 6 months time (as the directions suggest) because I can finally leave my hair down without it turning into a puff-ball. I suggest asking a friend (or spouse) to help apply it, just to be sure its evenly in and not on your roots. I can even feel my hair is softer. I did apply a leave-in conditioner, so it won't feel dried out. And I am happy to say I really just need some product for the slight frizz I have to tame (and I mean 85% less frizz, after using ONO), I may not even need that iron again! Give it a try ladies, you will be happily surprised!

I'm a "mixed chick" Black, Indian, Hispanic and White. And my hair is manageably curly but gets fuzzy in the Miami humidity. I have found that Proclaim (protein) gel works wonders when i wear my hair down and curly/wet especially because i spend a lot of time swimming. But i wanted to go straight for a while and i've tried perms for black hair in the past but they were too harsh on my hair and caused breakage. So i did my research on this site and found the best product for my type of hair One n Only Curl Remover! I read the reviews and received some good reports but one review really sold me on the product. I would like to thank Angel for her review that specifically targeted multi-racial hair and the best part is she used to live here in miami. So she vouched for the effectiveness of this product in the Miami heat & humidity. THANK YOU Folica.com for this site, it has truly been helpful to me, and my hair looks absolutely fabulous!!! -Michelle, Miami FL

i had a really bad "poodle-looking" perm since April and finally couldnt take it anymore...so i bought this product, straight ironed my hair first...then combed the product through and apply a deep hair conditioning mask after i rinsed the formula out...my hair is so soft, manageable...and my hair is back to my natural hair type..but please note: try getting a trim before and after the treatment and use a leave-in conditioner everyday to repair damaged ends...
