I bought One n' Only Curl Remover...

I bought One n Only from Sally Beauty and it was the one in the yellow box, where it was supposed to make "permanent PIN straight" hair. Anyway it's the one where after the 1st step you are supposed to blow dry it and flat iron it "pin" straight and THEN apply the neutralizer. Well I've had bad experiences with chemical relaxing treatments in the past, so before using I cut a test strand... that worked perfect! OMG I was so excited.
Then I did everything the same, left it on the until my hair no longer fell out of a knot (and not a moment longer) and then rinsed. Well yet another BAD chemical hair straightening experience. My hair was neither "pin" straight nor nice. It looked like Garth's hair off Wayne's World straight, but not nice, and that was after spending the exact same amount of time blow drying and flat ironing as before. Before it took me the same amount of time to straighten my hair, except when it was done, it looked shiny and healthy and gorgeous. Now my hair looks like dried out straw!
I use hundreds of dollars a year in professional conditioners and products and so it's not for lack of a good moisturizing conditioner. I use a protein treatment to restructure my hair and a moisturizing treatment to try to save it from breaking. I can not wear my hair curly anymore and it doesn't look that good when I straighten it either. Another VERY scary thing is that my hair is breaking all different lengths and to make it worse and very scary is that the roots (you know the little bulbs on the tips of your hair when you pull them out of your scalp) are missing! So either the chemical worked it's way into my scalp and burnt off the roots (and I DID keep the product at least an inch or more from my scalp while applying) or the hair is SO very weak that the hair breaks at the scalp rather than having the tenacity to pull out the root! I e-mailed the One n' Only company for advice (it's part of ConAir) and they didn't even have the decency to respond to my questions. That's why I don’t feel bad at all trashing them now.
Only try this product if you have very coarse hair that will withstand the chemical melting that will take place. I had very healthy, very curly, but fine hair that is now broken warped (not curly, not straight) and ugly.
Not as painful

So I am writing this review to pay back for all the wonderful reviews that you all wrote.I am a white girl with extremely kinky and curly hair. Tight curls. When I wake up in the morning my hair stands straight up and I look like Marge Simpson. Last year I went to a local salon and had a straigtening for several hundred dollars.
My hair was unevenly stick straigt in some areas and not in others. The stench was soo bad that it ruined the shirt that I had on after the treatment! My hair smelled for weeks when it got wet. So I was reluctant to try this but I needed to take care of the new root growth. I took the advise of one writer and had platic clips, paper towels,
extra towel around the neck and shoulders, vasalined my face and neck, a good wide toothed comb, etc. I applied it myself and I can say that deviding the hair is not that simple. I devided it into smaller sections than recommeded as I have thick hair. I think the next time around I will just pile it up and take small sections down. Anyway, I left it on for about 15 minutes tops as I was a bit nervous. I did not want poker straight hair. I must say that it did not have a terrible smell. I used the whole bottle on my shoulder length hair. You would definitly need two bottles it hair is thick and long.
My results where not great but the bit of dryness I had after has gone away with good after care and the tresses although still curly are not as nervous and poofy. The smell washed out and the damage was minimal. And it did not strip my color away!. I think the next go around I will leave it on at least 5 minutes more. So, I did not get the results as good as I hoped but that may be operater experience and timing. The best is that it did not ruin my hair. I will try it again in a few months.

i have african american, thick and unruly hair. idk if this product for me was worth while b/c even though it made the curls looser, my hair was still thick. also, the product reeks soo badly. it smells worse than the relaxer chemicals and i think it might even be toxic. i noe that it felt like it was burning my nose and it was suffocating me. but, that was the worse part. it didn't burn my scalp and it did make it a little bit easier to manage.
Didn't think anything would work....

I am the only one in my family to have thick, curly, wavy and unruly hair. Both my sisters have straight sleek hair, so I decided to give this a try since the price was good. I ordered a sedu with this order also, and since my hair was so thick I ordered 3 of these. I only used one, I can't believe it, and I'm LOVING my hair now. I can't believe my hair could look so good, it's not as thick anymore, I still have some curl which is what I wanted. I will totally use and purchase this product again, and I'll definitely order from Folica again in the future.

I have wavy, often frizzy hair. One & Only got rid of the frizz and, while I still had to blow dry my hair straight, it was much easier to do. After two days my hair has still maintained its straightness and soft shine. The only thing I would recommend is besides using a comb to work the product through to the ends, I used my fingers (with gloves on!) to pull it through as well. The comb alone wasn't bringing it down enough.
I'm very happy with this product and will definitely use it again.

I'm Latina and have course, curly hair. I wanted to try this product to get some of the curl out of my hair and make straightening it easier. I followed the directions on the box and conditioned after rinsing but was disappointed with the results. My hair was just as curly as ever just frizzier. I only used about half of the product so I decided to try it again the next day. This time I used brush instead of a comb and brushed my hair a few times with the product in. I got much better results, most of the curl was gone although some frizzines was still left. My straightening time was reduced in half and it didn't damage my hair. I will definitely try this again.

I permed my hair about 6 months ago and it was horrible. The only thing hairdressers could offer me was a Permanent Straightening - around 10hrs in the salon, over $700 and the risk of singing my hair and making it even worse.
So I looked around the web and came across One N Only Curl Remover. After reading all the reviews I decided to order it.
My Mum helped me put it in - we brushed my hair, added the solution and kept combing it straight for 15 minutes, washed it, added the 2nd solution and then let it dry naturally. It was amazing! There is no sign of me ever having a perm, and my hair wasn't damaged by the Curl Remover at all (not anymore than what the original perm had done anyway!)
If you want to get rid of curls - this is your answer!
-----Folica.com was fantastic also - My order arrived within the week - Very surprised!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I purchased this wonderful product from Folica a couple of weeks ago and I've just straightened my hair with excellent results. It didn't make my hair poker straight but it took away alot of the frizzies. The ends were a little dry but a quick visit to the hair dresser to have them lopped off fixed everything. (definitely don't leave dry split ends unattended after a straightening for too long!!!) You really need someone helping you too. This product does exactly what it says it will do and I'm extremely pleased with the result. It's also helped with flat-ironing. I don't have to run the iron over my hair 3-4 times in one go to achieve a slick result. I'll certainly be using this product again in another 3-4 months.

I have (had) long tight super curly hair. Not course but soft managble curls. Before trying to permanently straighten it for $400 I thought I would try this out. Wrong decision! My hair is now damaged, super dry and not straight..nor curly. My curl pattern is no longer consistent and I have dry unmanageable frizz. My long middle of the back hair length is now going to get chopped next week to try and repair some of the damage. I know allot of people on here have had good luck with the product but I’m not one of them. I hate my curly hair but now all I want is for it to come back!
Product did what it said! Thumbs UP!

I am Black with a mixed grade of hair, very fine and very curly (great-grandmother was half-Indian). My hair was already permanently straightened using the CHI permanent hair straightening process, but it had grown out to almost a whole new head of hair. I loved the freedom I got from frizz & puffiness by having my hair permanently straightened. So when I stumbled across ONO and read the reviews, I thought there was a chance that I might get the same results with ONO. So I ordered it. I told my best friend about it and she ordered 2 kits and we got together to put ONO on our hair last weekend. And I'm so glad I did! I tested my hair all this week under the conditions that usually cause my virgin hair to become puffy, frizzy and big hair head. I can honestly say my hair stayed perfectly straight and well groomed, no puff, no frizz, no need to wear a hat from humidity! The same results as the CHI hair process, but at a savings of $593. I used ONO for Normal hair, since the CHI had grown out and I only color my hair which is totally grey in the front when not colored. I processed my hair the full 20 minutes for the 1st step. I was left with a wavy pattern on the new growth after neutralizing & before blow drying and then flat-ironing. It took about 3 hours to completely do my hair from start to finish since I followed a couple of the reviews and included the steps for permanent hair straightening. I used my Chi line of products for shampooing etc... and will continue to do so, since my hair is still silky, shiny & soft and has remained that way since ONO and using CHI. I will also continue to use ONO to straighten my new growth, hopefully no more than once or twice a year. I've been singing it's praises, showing off my hair and recommending it to all my friends. Thumbs up for ONO!!!!(o:

i have color treated, wavy hair...it's not super curly but it dries ugly! definitely not a pretty wave at all. and it dries frizzy! ugg! i almost bought their permenant straigtener but was too much of a chicken. BUT I LOVED THIS! it didn't make my hair bone straight but it dries into a pretty, soft, much more manageable wave. and it doesn't poof! yay!!!!! i only had to straighten it a little bit and i usually spend tons of time in the morning and before i go out at night straightening. i would definitely recommend this. especially for the price. i made sure to condition my hair between each step and my hair is super soft. i didn't loose any hair in the shower either so it seems to not have done much damage! A+++++

I am a 36 year old career mom. For years, my curls were perfect. Thanks to motherhood, hormones, stress, you name it, my hair has changed texture in the last few years. Nothing I tried could tame the frizz or bring back my pretty curls. It's looked pretty much like I am growing out a perm for 2 years now. So, I decided to take the plunge and try ONO myself since my hairdresser of 20 years would NOT put a straightener in my hair. I had someone help me since I can't reach the very back of my hair and am somewhat OCD about everything. I wanted to make sure all parts were covered evenly, etc. Well, I was not too impressed with my hair after allowing it to air dry, but could tell a big difference in the amount of frizz. But, after wetting my hair, adding a bit of Dove Frizz Control lotion and using a big round brush and hair dryer I am completely sold on this product. My hair is straighter than I have ever been able to get it with just the dryer. I hit the bangs with a straightening iron and it feels absolutely perfect. No frizz, no ugly waves after a day at work. I bought the ONO frizz remover kit 3 years ago and never used it because I was scared of damaging my hair. I tell you, I regret that now. I wish I had done this years ago! Don't be afraid--get it now!!

I had a perm and my hair was real wavy and would frizz really bad in any situation. After I used Curl Remover my hair was a lot less frizzy and was A LOT more straight. I would never blow dry my hair cuz it would be like a huge afro, but no matter if I blow dry it or let it air dry it's a lot more tame and easier to manage. I should have left the remover in my hair longer but I was so anxious to see what my hair would look like. Overall, I loved the results and I even bought some for my mom.
Best. Chemical Process. EVER!

I LOVE this stuff! Instead of just removing my curls (and waves and puffiness) it actually straightened! No worries on my hair reverting during humidity though my hair did get limp. Another reviewer said she'd take limp over puff any day of the week and I totally agree with her. I have been through a lot of trouble to make sure my hair always looks good during the summertime. Until recently I wore weaves but my scalp was begging for mercy from the tight pulling thanks to the braids created for the sew-in.
For those who are an 'old-hand' at using relaxers, perms and other chemical processes, don't be afraid to extend the time on the application. Make sure to use a good conditioner afterwards. FYI, my hair ranges from 3B-3C and I am of black African, Irish, Native American, French and Spanish heritage. IF you are interested, I have a longer review with some step-by-step instructions on my blog here: http://oshunsmirror.blogspot.com/ . I could have gone into a longer post here but I didn't want take up too much space. Short and sweet: ONO is FANTASTIC!
Also to those who were unsatisfied, I wonder if you bought the correct formula? My hair tends to be 'difficult' so I used the resistant formula.

I was so scared to use this product because my hair is pretty much straight with a little wave on the ends and some frizz. I used to use a straightner on a daily basis which was really easy and only took around 15 minutes. However, I wanted to see what this product would do to my hair. I left it in around 12 minutes and only used half of the product because I was afraid of the damage it would cause. I was so thrilled to see how my hair dried. It was as if I had straightened it. I am so excited and will be using this probably once a year for maintenance. I encourage everyone to try it. Oh, I tried the one for tinted and highlighted hair since I was afraid of damaging my hair.

I am part African American and part Asian. I used this product b/c I did not want to relax my hair again. I used this product all over my hair and it was noticeable straighter. It was still curly but definitely less curly as the product said it would be. After blow drying and styling my hair, my hair felt very moisturized and was shiney. I didn't use any additional products in my hair, so I think the moisture was because of the product. I would definitely use this product again and would recommend it to anyone who wants to loosen their curls!

Before I began coloring my hair I used home chemical relaxers about once or twice a year at most, and was usually pleased with the results; however, the product I last used before was discontinued.
For the past few years I have been coloring my hair and found that the hair relaxers left my hair spongy and dry looking so I stopped using them. My hair is naturally curly. The curls are usually very soft underneath buy my top layer has been very frizzy lately. I wanted a product that would remove some of the curl and frizz and would help in styling.
After reading all the reviews, I decided to buy the One N' Only for color treated hair. The instructions said to leave it on anywhere from 7 to 15 minutes. I left it on for about 8 minutes because I didn't want my hair to turn out pin straight and was also afraid that my hair would dry out since my hair is dyed. My hair is now very straight when wet, something that wasn't possible before, and is much easier to style. I can blow dry it a lot easier, I can even use rollers on my damp hair and it will dry with beautiful waves. I don't even need to use a flat iron throughout all my hair, I only use it sometimes in a few spots. I also expected my hair to turn out dry but was very surprised that my hair turned out very soft, silky and all the ugly frizz was gone. One last thing, I only wash my hair every 3 days but since my hair is dry and colored, this helps to keep the natural oils and since the dirtier my hair is, the straighter and silkier looking it gets.

I read all 98 reviews here and appreciated them so I'll post my own sadly unsuccessful experience.
My hair before ONO: very thin, layered red hair, a few inches past my shoulders, air-dries in combination of frizz and ringlets, undamaged because I never use heat or chemicals on it
My hair after ONO: the same
Good: didn't damage my hair, didn't burn my skin when it got on there
Bad: Even though I left the thio solution on 8 minutes, got no curl relaxing at all. Maybe I'll try it again and leave it own longer next time

I am a mostly black woman with naturally curly hair (like scray Spice).I tried a "Just for Me" perm for african american hair and it broke my hair off and I had to grow it out and start from scratch. I wanted more of a wavy, and less curly type of hair and the ONE N ONLY Curl Remover product worked pretty good. It took out about 25% of the curl, I may try it again later to try and get more of the curl out but for now my hair is more manageable and that is what I was looking for. According to one of the other posters I may need to try the formula for more resistant hair if I do I'll post again.
