This stuff works but...

I waited a week before writing the review because I wanted to see how my hair would behave after a couple washes. The ONO Curl Remover worked great! My tight curls were loosened and the frizz was greatly reduced (I processed for 20min, used half the bottle). My hair was (and stayed) uber straight after heat styling. BUT the treatment does leave the hair a bit dry... I now make sure I deep condition and use a leave-in cream (FHI Heat Hot Sauce, super awesome!) every time I shampoo. I'll also have to trim my ends. A week later: some curls are back, hair isn't too dry, could use the trimming. I would buy this product again because it dramatically reduces my styling time (even more with my Sedu iron)!! :)
Worked this time!!!

I reviewed below- June 19, 2007. I tried it again, using a new box, 2 days after I tried it the first time. This time, it worked! I left it on 20 minutes. Not perfectly straight, but close! I'd rather have close to straight than pin straight and damaged. My hair is soft and manageable- very happy. And yes- both the before and after photos are air-dried, with no products in there except leave-in conditioners.
It works!

I just purchased this product today, after reading all the reviews on this site for the past two months. I have color-treated hair, so I bought the formula for that hair type. I followed the directions - leaving it on for the maximum time allowed, and used Sunsilk Straigten-Up conditioner after the 2nd step. I then towel dried and blow dried my hair (something I have NOT been able to do without my hair seriously POOFING, FRIZZING and DRYING up to the 80's teased and *big hair* styles). As of the time of the below "after" photo a few minutes ago, I have not yet used the flat iron on it (again, something that was a total waste of my time before using this product). My hair is soft, and while some wave remains, it made brushing my hair easy, and blow drying easy.
I have VERY thick, loose/kinky type hair naturally and have not had a style haircut in some time because most times I just pulled it into a bun, clip or ponytail. I plan on getting it style cut in a few days for the first time in 2 years. Overall I'm very satisfied, and will use this product again. *Note the before picture was taken in Nov. 2006, so the product did NOT alter my current haircolor, it is just a different shade now compared to the after picture.
Wow! Really worked!

I have VERY thick loose curly hair. It took at least two hours if I even wanted to try and get a straightener through my hair. I was tired of frizz and curls. That's when I tried One 'N Only curl remover. I am SO glad I did! The application was super easy, and stinky I might add, but nothing horrible. I also have dyed, highlighted/bleached hair, so I got the tinted kind. It made my thick frizzy ol' hair, almost stick straight. I do still have a tiny bit of wave left in a few sections, but over all..perfection! I left it on for the longest time allowed, and brushed it through my hair the whole time it was on my head. End results are awesome! I now take maybe 10 min to straighten my hair and it's like I'm a new "non curly" gal! I'm sooooooo glad I tried this!!!!!! Yay!
This is good stuff!

I bought this stuff at a local beauty salon after reading all of the reviews. My hair is naturally straight but of course after a baby I decided that I wanted something completely different and went with a perm. My hair grew out so I have straight hair at the top about 2 inches and then curly hair the rest of the way down ahh!! So, all in all...I absolutely recommend this product! My hair is completely straight out of the shower like it is when I have flat ironed it! This stuff really works! Such a big fan, and you can't beat the price! It is somewhat smelly, but just like a perm. If you can put up with that then you can make this work for your hair! :)

Like half of the people to review this product, I got a bad perm recently. I tried to get used to it but I wanted my old hair back (it wasn't perfect but it wasn't this bad!). It had tight curls underneath and looser curls on the top with bad frizz all over!!!! The only thing I could do was wet it and then mouse it, which I did not really like. So, after 2 weeks of dealing with it I started looking for something to take it out and found this product. I read ALL of the reviews and decided to try it. I figured it couldn't make it any worse! I am sooooo very glad I did!!!!!! I used it just like the directions said... left step 1 on for 15 minutes, rinsed, left step 2 on for 5 minutes and rinsed again. Then I let it air dry. It still needed some frizz help (it had some frizz before I even permed it), so I put on a deep conditioner for 5 or 6 minutes. I let it air dry again then used my flat iron with some flar iron spray (got2b brand) and my hair looks better than ever now! Its straight and shiny and best of all... NO FRIZZ!!!!!!
I highly recommend this for taking a perm out, I don't know what it does to naturally curly hair but it will definatly take a bad perm out. Also buy a pack of conditioning hair mask just in case.
excellent value! thumbs up!

this is a good product. you can use this as for thermal reconditioning (TR) process, when you use an iron in between the chemicals. just search in youtube the steps for TR/rebonding. excellent value!
Amazing Product!

I'm a 14 year old with thick frizzy hair with small waves. I had been looking at this product for a long time but was very scared to use it because I didn't want to damage my hair. Finally I just decided to go for it after the woman at sallys said the chemicals weren't as strong as some other treatments. I used the resistant formula and had my mom help me. I ended up leaving it on about 25 minutes so that the top, frizziest layers would process long enough. After I finished both steps, I used a hair conditioning mask and left it on about 3 minutes then rinsed. My hair is so soft and when I woke up this morning it was straight! Some little kinks in the front but thats probably just from the way i slept. I couldn't be more happy. I'm going in too get a hair cut because the ends are awfully dead and split. BUY THIS PRODUCT! It's a pain to put in but its not expensive and if the neutralizer takes the nasty smell from step 1 out. Good luck :)

I'm hispanic with thick, kinky curly shoulder length hair. I constantly have to go to the salon to have my hair straightened which can be amazingly expensive. I'd seen Ono online and ordered it but was too freak out to give it a try after reading the directions. The box has been sitting in the bathroom for about two months when my grandmother came for a visit and immediately started to nag about the appearance of my hair asking me when I was going to get it fix. Well I broke down and tried it last night and O.o omg I'm sooo glad I did. I bought the tinted formula since I have color treated hair and didn't leave it on that long since I was freaked out that my hair would get damaged. Needless to say that it came out the same if not better then a salon straighting. I've never been happier. Finally something that works and wont send your wallet screaming for the hills.
Worked alright

I used one n only a few days ago, I purchased the color treated formula. Ive never used a relaxer before so I was hesitant to try it, I only left it on for 10 minutes then rinsed it off. I had super curly hair before, and now my hair is wavy, I wanted more of a straight look, so I'm going to wait 2 weeks then do it again. The frizz was also greatly reduced and its much easier to straighten.
I did it again

This is the second time I've used the product...I did it last year also.
This time it came out even better than last time...my hair is soft, smooth, shiny and not dry at all...and best of all..IT'S STRAIGHT!!
Suggestions...deep condition your hair the night before you do the process...DO THE STRAND TEST every few minutes to see if the curl is removed enough...if not, leave it in a few more minutes...continue to GENTLY comb the product through during the alotted time to maintain a straight pattern to your hair...and get a trim shortly after you do it....
I am so happy I didn't spend hundreds of dollars on the Keratin treatment...my results are 10x better than my friends who did it and I spent under $8...
Best $7 I've ever spent.

I read a few Q&A things where people are suggesting that this is not the right product if you have wavy hair and that you should try something else. Well, they are wrong. I used the resistant formula, did the initial step for about 15 minutes, and then followed it up with the 5 of the neutralizer. It seriously looks like it has been flat ironed straight out of the shower. I never imagined it could look this good.
The smell is really strong but it's worth bearing through. Also, it should be noted that my box did not come with latex gloves (I'm not sure if this was a fluke or not?) and the directions say that you should be applying it all with them on so make sure your box either has some in them or that you pick some up as well.
In summary: USE IT.
WORKED!!

I have naturally curly hair, and HATE it! I purchased this product yesterday...and did some heavy reaserch about it and other relaxers. I was a little worried about some of the bad reviews, but i went ahead and did it. It's only hair, it will grow back. Well i am soooo glad i did!!! It didn't take all the curl away, but it took most away. My hair is a little bit more dry than before, but that was to be expected. But it cut the time it takes to do my hair in half!!! I used a blow dryer after i was finished with the application, and i couldn't believe the difference!! I would reccommend this product to anyone!!!
I'm not sure

When i used it, i knew people complained of the smell but WOW it is strong. I used it while i was at my dorm in school and everyone thought that the dorm hall was like on fire, it has this weird burnt smell almost. The chemicals are DEF a lot less strong than a relaxer, some of the product even got on my hand and it didn't burn my hands or anything like a relaxer would. It def made my curls looser but it's been almost 3 months exactly since i last used it and i'm pretty sure my hair is right back to where it was. It made my hair 10xs easier to straighten, didn't frizz as much even when i went to the gym my hair didn't revert back. I think the product definitely helped with straightening, but if you're using it to get looser curls, i don't think this is the perfect product. i plan on using it again soon though.

i got ten inches of my hair chopped off and got a perm at the same time, and i liked it but after a few weeks i was sick of all the frizz. i got this product and since my curls were pretty tight, i left it in for the maximum time (fifteen minutes) thinking that it would still only loosen my curls. my hair is slightly wavy now without using a flat iron on it. it smells a little strong while you're putting it in but it smells just like the perm stuff and the smell doesn't last like when you get a perm. my hair isn't dry, breaking or anything even though i washed it the next morning, blowdried it and used a straightener.
This product was a huge letdown

I have loose, frizzy curls and lots of them. I hoped that this product would just smooth them out a bit and make them look like the "wavy" picture shown on the package. I bought the tinted/highlighted formula, because my hair has some 8-month old highlights (it's not very damaged; just wanted to be on the safer side). I followed directions to a T. Used condish after every step and sectioned hair carefully. Left it all on for about 12 minutes. Straight ironed hair after procedure and didn't wash again till day 3. Results: frizzy, still curly, super-dry hair. My curls used to be soft and defined (though they were frizzy), now they are dry, undefined, and fuzzy. Also -- the smell is HORRIBLE. Ruined my pillowcase and it still stinks even a week later. Just because most of the reviews on here are positive, doesn't mean this is a sure thing. Remember -- you are dealing with very harsh chemicals here. Use at your own risk! I regret messing with my previously healthy hair.

I'm not sure if I should buy this product. I hate relaxers so I went natural. I like the texture of my hair but it's very thick. I like to keep it long but it tangles when I wash my hair and breaks off. My texutre has some tight curls, kinkiness and some loose, straighter strands. I want my curls but I want all the same pattern and a little flat. I'm hairy so when my hair is out I look like a lion. I always keep my tied up. Can anyoen suggest anything? Do you think I should set the curl by rolling my hair into ringlets and then apply ONO solution? I think if I just use the solution without setting it that it will take out the curls I like and make my hair like a relaxer...straight, fizzy, and puffy...basically a straight afro.

I had naturally pin straight hair. Last September, I decided to get a lose, wavey perm. Once that fell out I decided to get a little tight perm...it looked awful. I was not going to wait a year plus to have the perm grow out, so when I found this product I was ecstatic! I used the normal formula last night and kept it on as long, if not longer, than the directions suggested. My hair is completely straight and back to the way it naturally was. This product is AWESOME if you are a sufferer of a bad perm!!
Great

Great for removing unwanted curl. Know that, it DOES NOT remove all of the curl, it turns it into a wave pattern. The only way to remove all of the curl is to use a stronger permanent wave solution, and use it in the same method. And in that case, it would would be terribly frizzy.
